Amazon Preorderer here..just popping in,

hows it going guys?

...guys?

Amazon better do something about it soon.

Ive been playing mine a lot since i got it. Moreso than the NES classic which i put down after i tried the games.

I really like the demo feature where mario will randomly select a save state and play the last minute or so as as screensaver.

I played it all (long) weekend. Completed Contra, Castlevania, Super Metroid and Mario World, and half o Yoshi. NES Classic was a super cool toy, but I played it for a bit then quit. With the fixed 4:3 scaling and richer games it feels like a much more substantial actual gaming device.

I've always said the Famicom generation is my favourite one, but this has re-kindled my love of this generation.

8bitdo controller with menu reset is killer too, really opens up the rewind feature for cheatery ;)

kinda regret getting mine tbh. Its not even that the games dont hold up, they do, I just...dont want to play them?

Like, I did the first pendant dungeon in Zelda, played about an hour and half of Metroid, did the first 50cc cup in Mario Kart, and the novelty wore off fast. Dunno, I wont unplug it or anything, maybe ill get an itch for those games. I guess if nothing else its a easy way to access them whenever I want, should I want to.

Controllers are neat at least.

The best part is thats how im gonna feel but because other games are coming this week and not because i dont wanna play it.

that certainly doesnt help. Like I bought it, knowing full well 3 days later I would be wanting to play Battle Chasers for example.

Walmart order that was supposed to arrive tomorrow finally shipped today earlier in the evening. It's coming Wednesday now. I just hope no one takes the package before I get home

Wow. Pigs must be flying and hell has frozen over because Walmart shipped my SNES before Amazon.

We're truly living in an age of wonders, ladies and gentlemen.

I had almost instant regret when I bought mine. i could have played these games any time i wanted in the past decade and never chose to do it once. buying this doesn't particularly make me want to play them any more. I just wanted to recapture a moment of my childhood by buying this I guess

Started Castlevania IV tonight. I realized I had never played Castlevania IV before. I've been really let down by the soundtrack. ;(

The heck kind of expectations did you set that you were disappointed? CV4 is amongst the best music in the series. Second probably only to CV3 JPN version. It's obviously slightly dated, the samples are SNES quality, but the composition itself is god tier.

While I can understand some peoples not wanting to immediately dump tons of hours in it, my gaming schedule is intentionally free of games. For at least the next month, everything is off the table for me that's not on this system. That's little more than a day and a half per game, and honestly I'll probably play it longer than that with the meaty RPGs that are on there.

I'm also 31, hitting prime nostalgia age and lowest amount of expendable income though, so a break from AAA $60 games for awhile is probably in my best interest regardless :)

I completely agree. The NES Classic was kind of subpar for those of us chasing picture quality on real hardware, but the SNES Classic gets to "good enough". It looks more or less like the real thing and I'm not distracted by obvious flaws.

I wish I weren't so familiar with the SNES library because to a certain person with less experience, this would be a megaton of classic games.

im still bummed out that some titles arent present like dkc 2 +3, killer instinct and super mario allstars.

I wouldnt have complained if these were included lol

Buyer's remorse is always going to happen with a purchase made out of nostalgia.

This certainly isn't about playing the games, you could've done so at any time in the last years. This is to appreciate the package. If you didn't squee with glee as soon as you opened the box, you done fucked up.

I wanted one not only because i missed out on the NES Classic but because i was going to replay games like DKC1 or Kirby Super Star anyway. Better bundle too cause it includes 2 controllers. Never saw a standalone NES Classic controller.

Also add the fact that its gonna be cracked wide open to let us put other games on it too.

I have 100 ways to play SNES games between carts, VC, and a vast variety of devices + modded consoles on which to emulate.....

.... but I definitely squeed when I opened that box.

finally set mine up....

man, DKC really looks like shit on an hdtv no matter what mode.

I remember how amazed I was by DKC's graphics when it first came out.

I haven't touched mine since Friday, where I almost teared up going through the games for a few minutes each.

But new games are coming up and they're going to consume my time.

I love having it there though, ready to offer me my SNES fix. Don't regret a single cent about it.

I just had a look on howlongtobeat and Super Metroid clocks in at around 7.5 hours, is this accurate? I'd have thought it would be much longer for some reason.

Well this sucks. My EU SNES Classic from FNAC arrived today and it wasn't packed well at all. They basically just put it in a cardboard sleeve with practically no protection. As a result there are creases and dents on the packaging. :\

The world record is 40 minutes lol (less than 30 minutes in the in-game clock).

It could be between 8-20 hours for a first play, I think as a kid my first run was about 12?

My rough plan is to use a guide if I get stuck for more than 10 mins, so I'll probably be on the lower end of the run time.

I’ve done a bit of Mario, I’m up to the Death Mountain pendant dungeon on Zelda. Everything is being enjoyed! Best fun is the kids enjoying things.

That's funny to hear, when I was about nine years of age I thought it looked ugly! (still do)

what? when DKC came out it had the best graphics of any SNES game of its time. (and was better than most PS1 games) Like, when it came out, the graphics were a big deal because of the silicone graphics. It was one of the most graphically impressive games when it came out.

Scanlines really help with that game.... haven't tried the SNES mini's CRT mode on it, but on a Framemeister upscaler it's like night and day.

When I picked mine up from the post office, the person serving me (upon seeing the box it was packed in was obviously from a game store) asked if it was "the new Mario controller" and she said she played it with her family last night and it took them back to playing it "20 years ago". <3

But now I have too many games to pick from. Getting so many at once is a problem!

i'm still fucking waiting on this for delivery, anyone else using Argos/DPD had the same bullshit? supposedly it's getting delivered today but i was told it was coming on friday and then yesterday it just sat in a distribution centre all day without any update whatsoever, so i won't hold my breath. so pissed off.

My Target order that was shipped via shitty Surepost is in a city a few hours away and hasn't moved in three days. It getting here tomorrow as scheduled seems unlikely.

Jesus christ this cable is short. I had to play right with my nose to my 4K TV
Feels like being a kid again in that department.

This feels it's more ready to be connected to a PC monitor than a TV due the short cables.

Y E S ! ! !

Finall got mine delivered. Hastily set it up and played a few levels of SMW, a bit of Metroid, the first level of Contra III, the first level of MMX and a Mario Kart race. I really like the CRT filter! I can't decide between raw 4:3 or CRT.

Today's my busiest day of the week, alongside Thursday, so I can't spend much time on this nifty little toy... but, man, what a weeking I'll have!
