It's called a live wallpaper and it's been in Android for a very long time. It doesn't really hurt battery much but I do think it sticks around in RAM all the time.

I knew it was called something like this, but if it doesn't drain battery than that's fine. Pixel 2 is not really impressing me. Ill stay with my 6P for now.

Sometimes when I sit down and bend over to tie my shoes at the door before leaving my pants pocket folds over the top power button on my phone and causes it to reboot. I feel like that'd happen with this.

I remember it, but it didn't work super well. It could identify basic objects, but nothing like this.
