Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

You've had two years to unlock all this crap with FM breh.

Yeah unlike at launch, there's plenty of opportunities for Fight Money in the game now, you should be able to get all the characters + stages.

This should just be the response to any shit posters who come in here going "LOL PAID UPDATE"

So should I endorse Capcom for releasing an unfinished game?

What they are doing is not great, it's what they should have done 2 years ago. And I say this as a person who plays the game almost daily, there are some things that cannot get a free pass.

They never got a free pass.
But when they do something right, you should at least give them props for it.

Is there any word about whether digital owners will get the season 1 and 2 characters for free? I bought it at launch, so it's not like I can buy a used copy for a tenner to upgrade.

I feel a right plonker buying the extra characters now (mainly since I've not really played it much). That could be lessened if I got another set for free.

I can see them offering a s1 + s2 pack. Seasons Pass buyers got the battle costumes for the DLC characters as an extra though. Also Vanilla owners who kept playing and bought the seasons passes should have more than enough FM to have all new stages, as long as they kept up with the weekly missions. That's another thing to consider.
So far there is no indication that they are putting more than the new characters into the new package.

So.... if you bought this game for full price on launch, is there any way to get the DLC at a discount if you haven't gotten it yet? Or is it cheaper to just buy this for $40 if you only have the base game?

We'll have to wait for more information. The first Seasons Pass already got discounted to 19.99 back then I think.

didn't they say they wouldn't be releasing new versions of the game? or has that plan just gone by the wayside

Straight from the blog:
From the beginning, we promised that you’ll only need to purchase the original Street Fighter V, which we’re sticking to.

From the very beginning they promised that you will only need one disc to keep playing. They were also openly saying that updated packaged versions are a possibility.

Exactly, if you've played the game for any length of time since launch, you probably already have everything you want that you could buy with Fight Money. The game throws it at you...

If this $40 package had ALL the DLC costumes THAT would be a deal...
(Since DLC costumes can't be bought with Fight Money)

The game we should have gotten on day 1 will finally be here in year 2.

I get why people are saying that, because the game didn't have a lot for single player enthusiasts to do, but if they had released SFV with all that content (especially that roster) it would have been a legendary first iteration of a new fighting game. We all talk about how great Alpha 3 was on the consoles, but that wasn't even the first iteration of the third game in that series...

So for anyone who hasn't bought SFV yet and might get AE, you will be able to easily unlock every future character the game releases with FM.

You already could before but each character increases the amount of FM you can earn so with this update + the first two seasons it'll actually be braindead easy to do so. Especially if Arcade Mode gives you even more FM.

Damn this is true, new people are getting a ton of fight money.

But the "Arcade Edition" package is just a Game of the Year edition anyways - Base Game + Arcade Edition features (free) + S1 characters + S2 characters. It's mainly for people who don't have the game yet, heck it wouldn't surprise me if S1 and S2 characters were just codes for their respective season passes.

Someone who has the base game already can just buy S1 and S2 season passes and they'll be in the same position, they still get the Arcade Edition features for free once the update is up. Of course this won't be the most cost effective way to do it though once the AE package is released.

It's not like SFVAE is a separate game - it's just the game plus season passes packed in one go, probably updated with the new features.

There will be a sale or two on the SFV 2017 deluxe edition before the end of the year (digitally speaking). If we are talking physical copy, there's no doubt that the arcade edition is optimal from a price perspective since both character pass will amount to more than 20$ buck even discounted (assuming the base game at 20$).

So with SFV arcade edition you get:

Base game
Characters pass 1
Characters pass 2

You will have to grind out FM for the stages and costumes (or pay with real money) just like us current owners have to do. :p The good new is that it's going to be far easier to amass FM since you start with 28 characters + more modes to earn FM. ;)

Capcom really has a messaging problem with all this shit that was entirely of their own making

You should've been able to buy everything with Fight Money, but just buy Fight Money in the PSN store if that's your prerogative.
Every piece of DLC in the store, even the ones which can be purchased with FM, can be purchased with cash. You don't need to just buy FM if u can just buy whichever piece of DLC you could want with money instead

That’s true with survival and now arcade and battle mode you technically could get all the content for free if you’re an original owner it’s just grind.

I'm sorry to hear about your inability to read. It must be tough being completely illiterate that you can't read a thread title.

I apologized already :(

I though it was free update at first, but people were talking about selling the base game to buy this one confused the hell out of me.

The game wasnt good enough to waste months and years grinding on it. I think I unlocked a few season 1 characters before falling off.

Plus I got other games to play, fuck grinding.

Exactly, I actually kinda envy those who are jumping in with AE.

They literally gave us free fight money a few times just for turning the game on though.

Are you trying to explain to me how their economy works

Like I have the game

SFV Deluxe has been on sale for $40 multiple times this year.

A better deal than this tbh because I've had that for months

As a former Chun-Li main, it's interesting to see that her new V-Trigger is Kikosho, a move which has typically been a Super/Ultra level move in the past. Really curious how much damage it does.

Also, behold my Kikosho Wall of Shame.

I'm really, really hoping that with the new V-Triggers that we get a version of Karin that plays more like her Alpha 3 version.

Also I kind of like the gold.

They're not gonna mention something like this on the update bullet points but it would be great if all the stage elements move at full fps after the update.

If I didnt care that much about the game I wasnt going to log on every week to complete some arbitrary checklist.

And like I said, I unlocked most of season 1 which was enough grinding for me.

They already showed her new VT ? Do you have a link for it ?

I truly hope they do right for both Juri and Chun li in S3 because they need some buffs.

They missed out on a bunch of piss easy or legitimately free FM from the weekly missions tournaments, log in bonuses. But yeah, just doing the short character stories for 28 characters will be nearly 6 DLC characters right there.

Chun-Li became my main again after the backtracked on the stupid decision to make lightning legs a half circle input: come back!

This is getting released in Japanese arcades so by Japanese law they need one playable schoolgirl character. She's a lock.

Technically everyone has a schoolgirl outfit now and we got Karen...I hope she makes it back in though but if not SFIV is still active. I'd be fine with those two as the only Alpha and SFII returnees since the game is skewing toward SFIII and we need more reps there.

the fact that they're so blatantly pushing arcade mode makes me laugh. like they were fucking scarred for life when the SFV launch was pretty much ruined by people crying about no arcade mode

now they're like YOU WANT ARCADE MODE YOU MOTHER FUCKERS? HERE TAKE IT TAKE ALL THE ARCADE MODE IN THE WORLD

That was already apparent since they were showing off MVCI

No checklist, just booting the game up.

I play her now and again, but I main Guile in Ranked.

That's kinda what's funny to me.

A lot of people were saying Arcade Mode didn't matter and yet here we are there's tons of positive talk towards it. All the "we need ARCADE MODE" talk was worth it at the end of the day.

In their defense, this is a really surprisingly in-depth implementation of Arcade Mode
