Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

Lol true, I feel like SF has never really used gold in its UI before unless someone has an example.

I love the new character select screen, shit looks smooth and clean af.

Deff revisiting sf5 when AE comes out. I never thought I'd say that especially with marvel being out but shit THIS IS WHAT IM TALMBOUT CAPCOM!!!

You played a game for (presumably) two years. That was your deal. Of course anyone who buys it later will get a better deal, just like a sale or a GOTY edition.

The fact that I, that have bought this at launch, still can play online with whoever else, and buy the characters I want (with Fight money or real money) is really nice.

And we're not losing absolutely anything.

You're totally right, and like I said I'm not really bothered by it at all. I really like how extra content is handled in SFV too.

I think I just misinterpreted what they were saying a couple of years ago; I obviously expected the game to get cheaper, and maybe goty additions with bonuses etc, just not with all the characters included ($40 is a really good deal!).

Well they should really change their wording then....

as that make it sound like your getting season 1 & 2 characters

Literally one second later they specify a difference between existing owners and the bundle re-release, and what existing owners will be getting with the update.

If you look at the themed Arcade mode .. it indirectly confirms Sagat. There are 4 battles, which would be Ryu, Ken, Birdie, and Sagat.

The trailer also has an obvious hint what Ryu's V-trigger will be.

BTW, seeing the Ryu SF2 ending screenshots and the fact that this has 6 options for arcade mode, does this means there will be 6 endings per character?

Because if so, holy shit, that's insane.

Yo fuck El fuerte and fuck T hawk.

Woah woah, calm down there donald trump, let us mexicans have our representation, okay?

That's what I'm wondering. It'd be crazy if every character got six different endings.

I was thinking the same thing.

No arcade mode to one of the most robust.

Who wants to see the brick wall return from the SNES days?

Even the arcade version didnt have that! That was the reason I used to try and get excited about it back in the day.

I wonder how much fight money you'll get by clearing each arcade mode with a character. 10k for each route making it a total of 60k per character? But that seems a lot.

16 x 60k = 960k

960k just from the base roster seems waaay too much. That's 9 more characters just from playing Arcade Mode.

Considering that I'm literally playing the game right now (Trials with Juri), no I wouldn't.

I just like calling out Capcom apologists that will defend their games no matter what.

SFV doesn't have an Arcade Mode = "who needs Arcade Mode"
SFV adds Arcade Mode = "OMG HYYYYPE!!!!"

I'm one of the people who didn't think an Arcade Mode was necessary, but Capcom has gone the extra mile with this mode by including different paths and endings for each character in each of those paths, so of fucking course I'm gonna be excited, they did something no one thought they'd do! Can't we just be happy with this new update stop acting like kids? Capcom deserved all the bad press and all the shit they got when SFV launched, product wasn't perfect and still isn't, but this update is taking it in the right direction.

That seems to be the lesson after this thread and the mvci budget thread from yesterday.

This is an important takeaway.

I criticized SFV like hot fire at release, but not because I was rooting for it to fail. I love Street Fighter. I want it to THRIVE. I want it to get better, be better, be trend-setting and widespread in its reach. A game that, as they promised, would be great for players of all skill levels.

I got a lot of blowback from several SFV supporters that acted like requesting a proper Arcade Mode was somehow silly or stupid. "Who plays fighting games solo?" they said. "Fighting games are meant to be played against other people!", ignoring decades of history with the franchise where a proper Arcade mode and solo experiences in fighting games have kept solo players engaged.

For many of us, the "haters" of SFV were some of the most passionate Street Fighter fans I knew, and we "hated" because we knew SFV could be better than the bare minimum.

I'm glad to see Capcom taking major steps to correct course.

This is what the CFN site states regarding Arcade Mode in SFV:
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter,
you can enjoy the story paths of 6 SF games.
There's an ending comic panel for each character in each path.
Of course, you can turn on Fight Request while taking on Arcade Mode as well!
So yeah, pretty much every character will get 6 different endings, unless something was lost in translation for that part.

An arcade mode though? I like arcade mode in fighting games too, but I'm not buying a fighting game just to play arcade mode for 10 minutes and call it a day. That's a waste. Include the arcade mode but at least try to go beyond arcade mode once you complete it.

Sounding really good. The only possible way I can see this messing up is if arcade mode matches were 1 round each with no difficulty settings.

Yes, really. an arcade mode. Not everyone plays games the same way. Some people would literally boot up the game do an arcade mode run through with one character, and shut off the game. Repeat throughout the week. And occasionally once a week or in a month, play local versus against friends or family. And that was enough for them.

El Fuerte's SFIV game plan and bad chef gimmick are annoying, but I love luchadores and wouldn't mind if Capcom gave him another shot.
