Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

If X-Kira is right, then his 2nd V-trigger might be Evil Ryu. Evil Ryu only matters to me if I get that fucking axe kick back. In that case, new Ryu main right here.

Looking at the screenshot they posted of Ryu using his V-trigger. That doesn't look even remotely like E.Ryu stuff.

Mentioned this before but visually it looks exactly like Ryo's God Fist:

XIII version

Over the years this move has done things like deal big damage and caused a soft guard break (ala XIII), caused dizzy on hit allowing a full combo after (like in XI) etc.

Since it's a V-Trigger and not a super for Ryu, it might cause stun, guard break, crumple, or be an unblockable of some kind.

It's also the anim for his focus attack from SFIV.

Edit: Eh, maybe not exactly the same. Nm

I'm thinking it's some variation on focus attack. Like one where his mind is at peace or some shit.

Ideally it'd let him FADC too.

Isn't Ken's current V-Trigger sort of an FADC? It lets him cancel specials etc. into activation pretty similarly.

I think so too.

Ryu in SFV is the only shoto character who can't cancel dp or fireball into v trigger, one of the reasons his combo potential is limited.

I think ryu's second v trigger will be like focus cancel, I think it will have two or three level of charge, for example fast charge it to continue combo or hold to crumble your opponent.

I bought the original game but the season 2 characters. Will I get all of those characters with this update?

If you buy the AE disk you'll have everything.

If not, no. The update is primarily for the free content, balance changes, and whatever else they shove in there. People who own the game as is right now aren't getting any holes filled.

My only problem with the V-Triggers being new is that while they add variation, they are pretty damn brief compared to a lot of other games. It's just enough variation, but hopefully they add more juggle points or V-Skills. It's a good start either way.

Mika's new chair move might be a new V-Skill, but we've yet to receive any details on that front.

That's a whole lotta endings.

Yeah 28 characters (including Zeku) x 6 arcade modes so it wouldn't be surprising if we get way more when we get more characters in the future. It's quite exciting! :D

I'm more of excited for those free fight money (if they would provide any) but I have a feeling that those modes would fetch 1k or 2k per path so 6k to 12k per character for all 6 arcade paths.

See this is that ultimate Arcade experience. All I wanna do is go through all the arcade paths with different difficulties and listen to podcasts.

Watching some clips from the panel and here's a nice quote from it that I transcribed and think is a decent summary of Arcade Mode from Capcom's mouth itself:

This isn't just ‘pick a character, fight some characters in a row, fight a boss, watch an ending and move on'. There's six different paths themed after each of the Street Fighter [games], so you can pick...a Street Fighter 3 themed arcade mode or a Street Fighter 2, or Alpha or 4 and you will actually fight the characters from those games that are in V and there's a few extra touches that make it feel a little bit more special than just ‘Hey we finally released the arcade mode, here it is.'

That's kinda what I thought so it's good to have confirmation.

So what are they gonna do for SF1?

Can someone help me understand? Arcade edition is $40 for the base game + expansion passes 1 and 2.

I already own the base game and the first pass but in the store the season 2 pass is $30???

What's there to understand. Arcade Edition is a great deal.

FWIW, I earned all characters in game and i still have enough for FM for Zeku. If you logged in every Friday for the challenges (along with the Capcom giveaways) these past 1 years, you would certainly have had enough FM to buy both S1 and S2 characters

You'll need to buy them, but you probably just want to wait for a sale for Season 1 and Season 2 (either via codes on ebay or on PSN/Steam) because both will probably be available for 10 bux each.

Lol a lot of confusion it seems. If you buy the arcade edition you get those characters for free via download codes. If you have the original game you get the free update but no you still have to grind or pay for S1 and 2 characters.

I don't get why people would think this. If this were the case then why would Capcom even bother releasing the new package next year? People could buy the current game for cheap and receive everything.

LMAO well I know who to not pay attention to.

honestly the only reason I care is because I dont know if Ill like a character or not eh. Like I bought ibuki and kolin learned a bit of them but no matter what I always just go back to Mika. #MikaForever

Buy season two now for $30, and you’ll have the full Arcade Edition experience in January when the free update hits and you’ll save $10.
