Gran Turismo Sport demo coming Oct. 9

So this game going to be a full GT or more like a "Sports" painted Prologue?

Think about prologue in terms of package with a fully fledged "campaign" mode that is entirely online. Most of everything else is time attack stuff in various conditions

Being more precise, the Sport mode (campaign in previous GTs) is about racing every 20 mins against people on the net, and you go up (or not) in ranks etc like that

That depends on too many things at this point, people have different opinions about the content of the game. Online is the main focus here, not single player content, which is a big change for the franchise.

A user on gtplanet reported that the options bug can be fixed by trying to enter options 4-5 times. Sounds weird, but worth a try.

Racing online against real people is a blast!

as long as they don't use you as target practice

I was sceptical at first, but I think it's a good change.

I'm hopeful that the matchmaking system will cull out the Destuction Derby drivers sooner or later when you go up the skill brackets.

So what's the early verdict, folks? Is GTS going to redeem this bait 'n' switch "best year for sim racers ever", save the day and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat?

After you choose your tyres. Just wait and it'll start filling up with a lap estimate. Just stop when you have enough

Ah I got it. I was hitting don't don't refuel after selecting my tires because it was the only option. No patience lol.

Got bronze in the end, great race. I think I'm sold.

Hold the phone, I think this might be the one. It's like it's taken the best of Forza and PCars and wrapped it up into a nice little package. It's not as car collectory as Forza, nor is it as hardcore as PCars but it straddles the middle of both of them very well.

And, something I didn't expect. Online racing against random people works for once. The system forces everybody to respect each other.

I'm having a great time.

it did in the beta at least. that's what the game is built around, so it should.

just focus on driving as clean as possible early on so your rating improves quickly.

Early reaction in this thread: Plays way better than expected, visuals look good, handling feels nice on controller, multiplayer is fun etc. I think GT Sport is a resurgence of GT since GT5!

How is online playing so far? Didn't tried it yet.

Do you have a chance as new player? Do people make driving mistakes online here and there?

Photo mode is pretty crazy with options. I love it.
Still have to figure out how to get shutter speed lower than 1/60; i hope it goes lower.

Is this worth playing without wheel. Sold my Logitech one over year ago. If not then will grab another.

All my play today has been with a controller and it feels great using the in car view. Somehow, you get the feeling of the car having weight and know what the car is doing even with the controller. Do not even think about using chase cam though.

Hard to tell - but colour me surprised. I'm not really a sim guy - I played DC to death and loved the 'make me awesome' feel of the handling. Tried PCars2 last week and could barely keep it on the track. I figured GT would be more of the same and that my peasant sim-cade predilections would make me a poor a fit, but I switched off all the assistsand went for broke and honestly, I did much better than I'd being expecting.

Will definitely be jumping back in this evening to see if it was just fluke.

GT games have always been playable with a pad and not at the loss of time either, seems the same this time around too. So you should be fine if you don't want to get another wheel.

that was amazing to watch, how did you get that car, how did you unlock it and which track is it and the time of day conditions?

Go to sport mode, track is Lake Maggiore. It's an online race but you can do time trial qualifications, and it'll give you a decent list of cars to choose from.

Ditto here, though i am more of an arcade guy(NFS/Burnout/Driveclub), I have always loved owning GT games. To some extent I have enjoyed them, but boy GT Sport has legitimately surprised me at how good it is to play with a controller with all those assists turned off.

I went to look up car stuff in the show room for Lexus and there is no info for the LEXUS LC500 which is weird to me.

They have newer stuff like videos and info for BMW Z4 concept

The Interlagos Challenge is just so good. Graphics fidelity is impressive. I was about to get the gold medal did some shit in both of the last 2 laps (same turn argh). Trying again with joy.

Sweet and did you capture that with a capture card or did you upload it directly to youtube from your PS4 Pro and what software performance feature mode are you playing it on?

I used ps4share on Pro with a USB transfer. 1080p video output.

Holy shit there's an actual endurance race at the end of the stage 6 mission challenges.

Career mode redeemed. I'm preordering.

Right that explains why the video isn't at 60fps. But you could've done this, run the replay of that race with the steering wheel view, turn on broadcast on youtube with 1080p60fps option selected and now you've got the 60fps 1080p view of that same race :)
