Gran Turismo Sport demo coming Oct. 9

Does it look better than forza 7? Is there music while racing ?

Yes sir there's music when racing, clearly! As for the visuals comparison, comparing both feels apples to oranges. Forza 7 looks great, so does GT Sport. It really boils down to which console you own, both are killer platform sellers!

looks so fucking amazing on my HDR display ;_;

Oh snap. I wonder if they put in 24h Nurburgring challenge.

There are also events where you have to select cars from your garage. It's basically the standard career mode type stuff from previous GT's in a different wrapping.

Might be unfair, but I have a PC and ps4. I have not purchased either game yet as im torn which one to play.

Still don't know why they don't allow 1080/60 capture direct, best way to get that is stream to YouTube it seems and then use that output.

Right that explains why the video isn't at 60fps. But you could've done this, run the replay of that race with the steering wheel view, turn on broadcast on youtube with 1080p60fps option selected and now you've got the 60fps 1080p view of that same race :)

Didn't know about that. I'm assuming the quality is downgraded when streaming though? Anyway, didn't have much time to mess with stuff so I just wanted to get some quick footage up before I left home. First time driving on that track and without a map so excuse the slow driving too. Lmao

Yeah I'm unsure of the bitrate used when streaming, but yes both YouTube and Twitch now allow 1080/60 streaming. But direct capture is still 1080/30 :(

All the PR peeps had to do was show some of these later traditional events instead of saying the whole campaign is about teaching you how to drive for online. : was not expecting endurance championships with their PR. I wonder how many there are though.

Kind of not surprised since Sony made us deal with low quality jpeg screen captures for the longest time. Lol

Does the game autosave? Im scared to turn it off as when i ckick save it tells me it cant save to server and to check my network connection. But i can play online just fine.

It's happening to pretty much everyone.

Restarting the console has fixed it for some.
Thanks, will give that a try.

EDIT: Restarting the console didn't help, but I did a Arcade race and now can access the option menu without it crashing instantly.

OK, so my bad on the menu mouse cursor thing. They seem perfectly navigable with the D-pad, though I do think the text is much too small. I have my PS4 set to Japanese, though, so I don't know if it's an issue in English. There's a lot of real estate on the screen, but the text is so tiny I have to lean forward to read most of the kanji.

Once I got into a car and started doing laps it started coming together. It's been a while since I last played GT6, so I can't say for sure what's changed, but I can feel the great sense of weight transfer that game had here. It irritates me that you still have to turn Traction Control off for every individual car, and every time you do a Challenge, instead of being able to specify a default setting, but that's GT for you. I really like that there's a 60FPS option, too. I slapped that baby on and never looked back.

Those Level 6 Challenges ones you unlock are surprisingly involved (especially that 6 lap Interlagos race where you have to pit and win to get the Gold). It's a good sign, though I'll still wait for some feedback on exactly how much meat there is on the bone. As someone who isn't into multiplayer, doesn't have PS+ and isn't into the whole replay/Scape thing, the Campaign is all I have to rest my hopes on. If there's some good stuff in there for me to obsess over perfecting then I might still be in.

I'm so excited for this after work. I'm not sure how I'm gonna break it to my SO that I'll be using up the bandwidth for a couple hours though, because I couldn't queue the download last night.

In general, that sort of thing can happen when it's making an online "call" for a database that isn't configured yet (even in offline). My guess is there are some switches they haven't flipped behind the scenes until the full launch.

Guys I am on PRO with 4K Sony XE9005 and in the display settings I cannot change to 4K mode as it is greyed out and currently on 2K frame rate mode. HDR is ON. Any idea how to fix this?

Just fired up the demo.

I can't beat the first driving school challenge (drive in a straight line).

The arcade mode my BMW tops out at 60 MPH.

Have I fucked up in the settings somewhere or is this maybe a problem with the analog trigger on the controller? For some reason my acceleration and top speed are just garbage.

That's actually working as intended. That setting is only available when you have a 1080p set and want replays at 60 FPS. Or... you could set you PS4 to output at 1080p, should work as well.

no no as far as I can tell quality ain't downgraded, if you've got good upload speeds, the 1080p/60fps footage is going to be glorious!

Put your fuel map to lean, use the dpad for the option, that saves fuel. On the last lap you can put it back to full power and enjoy passing everyone else, there is enough gas, you are just burning through it fast.

i cant change fuel online, its the gr4 ferrari, after 2 laps no fuel and with the nissan gtr full fuel till finish

Had to get one or two laps in before work. Used the M3, forget exactly which one but it was a regular production model.

First impression was that the car felt heavy. Wasn’t sure if it was input lag or the weight of the vehicle, but it felt more like the latter.

Can’t wait to get home and put a few hours in.

Stupid suggestion, but are you by any chance driving with manual gear shift? 🤔

Did you, uh, shift gears? (I haven't played GT before so I don't know if the games does it for you or not)

The preorder just gives immediate access to those cars. They're still unlockable in the game

Great to hear, I really thought about ordering the expensive collector's edition because of the 18 cars. Damn.

But what about the helmed and the colors for the cars?

This is my thought as well.

X to shift up, square to shift down as well.

You can unlock them in game as well. Under the main menu there's an option called something like mileage exchange. There are a few things you can get in there in exchange for mileage you accumulate through playing the game.

Played it for about 4-5 hours, and TBH at first and a few times I wasn't too sure about it... I mean, it's clearly a good game but my first impression of the career mode, or the lack of cars (is this a beta thing?) I wasn't too sure. Even the graphics, at times I felt it was a mixed bag... a few of the fairly green/plain day tracks some of the environment wasn't all that high quality. I'd say Driveclub has nicer grass, plants, etc. Of course, the two games try excel in different ways... number of cars, people watching the race, etc -- so I don't mean that as a negative per se. Just that my first hour or so, there were times where the cars were incredible looking but the environment felt a bit more mixed (1080p no HDR, mind you).

Anyhow, the point was that I felt a bit mixed... Quite positive, still. The production values and music, all the car knowledge and the celebration of cars in general. All awesome. But overall, were some things I felt a bit less positive about.

But there was a few moments basically sold me on the game: First one was that desert track with the Camaro. Think it's Stage 1 Challenge 6 or something. Wow at that environment. Second, when I finally got Gold on that. Felt like classic GT challenges, and personally whether it was licenses in GT or even something like Challenges in Driveclub, I like trying to 'perfect' little challenges by seconds or millseconds.

However, the biggest one was the online lobby system.

Quickly joined a game room, entered the track, and seamlessly starting doing time trials as other players raced around, pitted, entered in and out of the game room, etc. The speed and smoothest you can join public 'rooms' where you can just do laps, clean racing, etc -- that's probably sold me on the game.

The ability to just seamlessly join open 'tracks' with people, and not having to sit in a lobby and wait together for a race to start, is pretty huge. It's not a unique feature, and other genres (e.g. Ground Control 2 for RTS games) have done it many times before...

But GTS seems to do it really well and especially with the track, time trial, 'perfecting your track time,' etc spirit to the game I think it's going to result in a pretty awesome car appreciating and race celebrating community ... A sort of 'track' culture, distinct from 'racing' culture in in that it's less combative. Between online gameplay and interface production, the game has a lot of ways it could do to promote a positive community.

I think, when all is said and done about bells and whistles, review scores, graphics face-offs, etc, what really could shine about GTS is its online component and a sort of 'track' culture.

Right, saw that but you can't buy anything there yet.

Man, that's great, no reason to buy anything else as the standard version.

There may not have been a story, but there was absolute progression in GT careers that you're conveniently forgetting. Acting like career was just a string of races rather than something that required you to experiment with different car classes & types, have a whole RPG like progression with leveling up and upgrading your your cars after earning money from races and what not, is pretty damn disingenuous, just like the assholes who were acting like fighting against the AI in training mode was replicating the Arcade mode experience in SFV.

Look, I'm not telling folks to have a problem with the lack of career the way I do. Don't have an issue with it? That's totally fine. I only ask the same in return, if folks have an issue with there not being a career mode in the game. accept that and let them be rather than provide such disingenuous "solutions". It comes off as snarky, and insulting.

1) this is still in the game, very much so, just play the game and stop complaining

2) the difference between SFV at launch was skilled players versus casual. There is a group that felt it tedious to go through an Arcade mode to unlock colors and outfits instead of just getting to the reason they bought the game, to play against other opponents online. This was in sharp contrast to people who are intimidated by online play and wanted a meaty SP experience. SFV arcade edition is finally getting both sides what they want.

3) you complain a lot and it’s annoying...and it’s no better than the SFV fans dismissing the SP content as unimportant. A campaign is here in GT, a leveling system, and tons of things to do before you ever go online.

Sport mode is addicting, spend several minutes for a qualifying lap, race, then the cycle begins again with different cars/tracks
