Gran Turismo SPORT | OT | Putting it all on the line

Just finished level 1 of driving school and oh fuck this is full of loot crate gacha shit for the cars isn’t it...

Is this your first Gran Turismo?

They've always given out random prize cars at the end of completing certain milestones. You're misunderstanding what a loot crate is. by that notion every enemy in Diablo or borderlands is a "loot crate".

You can also purchase every car in the game from the dealership.

Yup, seen your times, good target. :)

My physical copy turns up in a couple of hours (UK), so once work is out the way I'll be streaming a shed ton this afternoon.

Not too shabby yourself! I have the collectors edition arriving tomorrow and digital sitting ready to go, so midnight it is for me.

To those already playing the game - are there more than 3 Sport mode races available at one time or is it like the demo?

Bit disappointed that Sport mode is nothing more than 3 daily races aside from FIA shit. Pretty lame imo. There needs to be events for every class. Really short sighted format right now.

I honestly like it for the start of the game. Noticed during the demo that races became much cleaner throughout the day because people were really learning the tracks.

I would like to see it expanded to more events down the line but in the launch window I think 3 is fine, just so that people really get a lot of time with these tracks per day.

Completely agree. Also gives you many opportunities to improve.

Yeah, that is a good point.

What I'm wondering is that in the OP here it says that Sport mode races refresh every Tuesday. Aren't they refreshing daily? They're called daily races after all.

Yeh I think it will be fine for a while but I hope they double the number at some point so that you can chose between races happening at the same time.

I'm in love. Tweaked my default traction control and Controller sensitivity to 1, and it feels so damn good. Also tweaked the race audio to race effects as I never drive with music, and boosted the race sounds a bit. No complaints with the audio here.

But Circuit Experience. Man. It is the quickest way I've ever seen to go from zero to hero. Lots of games let you time trial a track sector by sector, or follow their racing line, or race ghosts of your friends or leaderboard players - but the combination of having a specific car, and specific targets to beat, sector by sector culminating in a full lap, with text and video instructions for every part, is a game-changer.

Yeah agreed. And a bit irritating that for the inaugural set of races they used the Speedway for one. Goodbye SR for anyone who tries that one.

I think these daily rewards are just trolling me. The one I got before midnight was a Toyota 86, and this time it showed me a platter of GT3 cars and a road car...and yup, it gave me a Ford Focus.

The top class of cars for launch day is limited to oval racing in Sport mode. That is shite.

And things like this are why there needs to be an alternative choice for each of the daily races.

That or some kind of voting system for the next days races.

If the title of this game is, Gran Turismo Sport, than the Sport mode right now is a massive failure. 3 tracks per day, limited to one class per track. Woof. Please PD, just copy iRacing seasons and call it a day.

It was the same in the demo.

I wouldn't call it a failure because I still managed to have a great time with the format but it can definitely be improved.

3 Tracks a day with Qualifying + racing is around 50-60 Minutes of unique content Playtime per day. I think that is enough for Most people, but i can understand it is too little for the Hardcore crowd though.

It emphasizes a few things. First, the event nature of racing. Second, learning and getting better through repeated qualifying trials and races. And finally, manageable variety that will keep races / “modes” well populated instead of spread thin.

I’m fine with it, although I would much prefer no oval racing.

Yeah, sorry but it was fine for a demo or beta. But three races a day, one track per class when there are 15!!! different classes of car. This is fucking dumb. GT Prologue had better online class based races. I did not expect the 3 daily race setup to be the final game mode. What a waste. The most important mode of this game is the most limited right now. So many positive things going for this game and they dropped the ball imo. Maybe this is just them trying to prevent their servers from melting during the launch window. I sure hope so.

You’re gonna be in for a rude awakening, I reckon.

Getting a prize race car..
That you already have..
That can't be sold only deleted.. :(

Also I feel the license progress should have been carried over.
Giving through those first 8 was deadly dull!

That and to ensure online races are full during a launch where most people are coming to grips with online

I haven't even hit the track yet and this games just bleeds class. So beautiful so far. First thing I did was buy the Corvette C7 Gr. 3 Road Car with mileage and then I signed to drive with Chevrolet for the FIA GT Manufacture Series, being gifted a C7 Gr4 and Gr3 to use until the event in the process. That was cool and unexpected!

I watched some streamers going trough the SP yesterday. It looked really boring.

PD better present some kind of DLC plan so people can know what to expect.

I think this game in its current state is is going to be boring in the long run when the WOW-factor of the new graphics wears off and the lack of content becomes clear.

Probably been asked to death but I pretty must just played the career mode in GT games, and never touched online. I'm not much of a multiplayer gamer.

I assume this game isn't for me?

Depends, you probably won't get full value from it, although if you have VR it seems like that will be another grab and is really well done.

I don’t think watching it does it any justice. It’s about competition.

Depends, did you actually like the career mode in those or did you just like doing races? You can set up your own custom races now in arcade mode, number of laps, AI difficulty, car class restrictions or multi class, number of opponents etc. there's still a campaign mode that's basically like the license tests and they have some longer race events in it too. Kaz also said there's post launch support to add in more single player race events.

I think it's ideal for SP
You have a lot of progression to fill out
22 different tracks to achieve challenges on, sector and lap.
A huge license section to get golds on
Another challenge section after licenses
Arcade racing in car classes with 3 difficulty slots per race to achieve wins on.
Spit screen 2 player
VR

The caRPG aspect is all but gone. Instead the single player is pretty much medal chasing through a slew of tests and challenges. Still enjoyable and the driving is far better than it has ever felt, but you won’t have the same progression as older GT games.
