Gran Turismo SPORT | OT | Putting it all on the line

Holy shit the "tutorials" in this are really fun lol.

I was like a crack whore jonesing for more crack trying to eliminate milliseconds just so I can get silver or gold lolol.

Also is GTS the first game to actually use cones as the guide for the racing line? I've always wondered why racing games don't give you the option or tell you about this considering that the cone placement is literally one of the first things you learn at a track day... or maybe I just never noticed it?

The one thing I really like about the game is that it feels like it was made for car enthusiasts who actually find the act of driving fun. I'm not naming any names, but I prefer this approach compared to another game that just tries to celebrate car culture.

Anyway, I might start rambling soon so I'm gonna stop and just post my first pic from scapes instead:

Had something weird/awesome/awful happen to me when I was goofing around in the Drift mode.

Bought a car (GTR 2017), took it to Drift mode, crashed around a bit and somehow managed to get the damage to stay on the car even in the garage/showroom of the main menu. Was oddly hilarious seeing these beautiful SCAPES with a scratched up GTR covered in mud and dirt.

It was oddly persistent as well, the car's icon thumbnail was covered in dirt, and the damage seemed to carry over to other events for me.

Couldn't find a menu item to fix the car. But some combination of the following sort of worked. It actually reminded me that in older GT games you had to take your car to the mechanic for maintenance and washes every once in a while.

Eventually I discovered the fix for this involved some combination of triggering a PIT repair during a lap, messing wit the livery editor/applying livery, and reset livery to default.

Damaged/Dirt look persisting was cool but I think I'd rather it be on an offroader than a stock premium GTR.

This game better be delivered by the time I wake up in a few hours, I can barely contain my excitement and I want to learn all the tracks as soon as possible.

After taking fighting game seriously and seeing how fun it is to compete in them, it's time to do the same with racing games.

Welp, lost my entire evening to this game. Having such a good time with it. The menus and all the stuff in-between racing is just so classy. A very pleasant experience.

Ahhh, stop giving me dogshit vision cars for all these missions. These cars are the absolute worst to drive. They have all the character and feel of a fucking apple store.

Given that I play with the regular controller I'm pretty happy I was able to get gold on all the beginner challenges more or less within five tries.

Now onto the intermediate ones...

Dragon Trail and Lago Maggiore got lots of love, what is everyone's feelings on Alsace Village? First two sectors feel like track generator tracks but the third sector is kind of fun. Def not nearly the quality of Dragon and Lago.

One more for tonight.

So as for the game itself, I've only done 1.5 rows of the driving school stuff. Thought I'd hate it since license tests are just eyeroll-inducing most of the time, but for some reason the added element of seeing friend times to compete with, combined with the helpful tutorial videos, makes the entire mode feel much more complete than in GTs past.

I'd go so far as to say I've already had more fun than in the hours I've already put into FM7, and I'm starting to seriously wonder if I'll ever go back to it now.

I'm eating crow with GTS, and I'm totally happy to do so. Glad I decided to give it a chance.

if you race in an empty spot at the back does your DR go up even if your result sucks?
in other words is there a way to finangle your way faster to people who know what they are doing other than racing to win?

you mean SR? you should see it blue every time you come up to a segment, just race cleanly even if you are in the back

Everyone killing Brands Hatch with the M4 it seems. I'm getting blown by on the straights in my Genesis. Brand Central only has an N400 model for sale. Does the N300 M4 only come from rewards?

Blue? You mean green?

Nah. Buy that one, use mileage credits to tune it and balance it for N300.

When I go to video output settings in the games menu it shows 2K output mode for PlayStation 4 pro console. And underneath it says prioritize frame rate.

It won't let me click on it, is there other options?

Yes, if you're on 4k tv you need to set your PS4's system level setting to 1080P and then go back to GT where you will now have two options.

So am I displaying the game in the highest resolution? When it says prioritize frame rate it usually means I'm running at a lower resolution.

Caved and got the game. Shop here had an irresistible deal, game + limited edition gt ds4 for 139 nzd (basically the controller worked out 1/3rd it's regular price) which is great coz my current ds4s are pretty much had it.

Game is awesome so far. Decided to buy a wheel (first one ever) and wow . That's all I can say

Yeah i went a g29 with shifter but honestly not a good enough driver to work the shifter so am sticking to the paddles which feel awesome. And my lap times have improved from beta which i put down to wheel and increased again when i went manual.

What wheel did you go? I had no idea so just went the one i know of.

With you on increasing lap times. Also noticing corners I would have some struggles with are easier.

Got the Thrustmaster T150. Was looking into wheels at work today, probably not the search history you want "Thrustmaster any good?"

Traditional career mode is definitely missed, but I'm still enjoying the campaign just as much as Forza 7 and the PS3 GT's. It's so satisfying getting that gold.

Had some fun online too, but the penalty system is too lenient. This guy was crashing into me and others every chance he got and still managed to finish third with no penalty because he drove clean towards the end (when there was nobody around to hit).

Having loads of fun at the moment but i can't decide whether to get a wheel or not. Fortunately, the game controls really well on DS4.

His SR should take a massive hit though. When your SR is in the red after a race your DR won’t get adjusted positively. So he probably got nothing out of that race but heading towards the SR dumpster.

How do I move the minimap from the bottom right to the bottom middle? I've seen this in some screenshots but couldn't find it in the main menu from the beta.

I have a G29 primarily for Dirt Rally and WRC 7, not as much feedback as I'm used to and can't find a setting. The DS4 does feel great though, good for when I cbf setting up the wheel.

This is the most fun I've had in a racing game, and I've only touched the single player. Loving this.

My 5 year old son is also having a blast. He loves doing time trials! This is him trying to drift:

And me winning one of the Mission Challenges (got the gold!):

Well that's reassuring.

This game is weird. Why am I okay with coming 8th? Why am I not mad at the guy who won? I actually feel happy for him when I see his driver celebrating and it says "First Victory!".

This might be the only non-toxic competitive online game I've ever played.

Mhmmm my Samsung smart TV usually has a popup if HDR is activated, eg for FFXV. For this game despite activating it in-game, no notification. Is it on? Anyone else with a Samsung smart TV not getting those?

Yes yes yes! Every other racing game my mindset has always been MUST BE FIRST MUST BE FIRST.

In GT Sport I'm just chill starting 10th, finishing 14th but with a clean race. I had a race where I started 14th and ended 10th but ended up rear ending a game right at the end to put my SR into the white (should've been blue) and I was upset. SR is all I seem to care about for now?!

The setting is in the drive options in the menu before a race, time trial, etc (the gear). Go to Advanced Options. Its towards the bottom of that.

I do not get the HDR pop up either with my Sammy. All other HDR games show the pop up.
