I'm not going to send any kind of message to Tyler Malka since the probability of him actually reading this thread is 0.00000001%. It is obvious his silence during the weekend was because he was seeking legal advice and his statement was probably written by a lawyer.

I wanted to say thank you to all the great people who posted here through the years since 2006 when I joined, but sadly most of them already left.

To the remaining mods, you're supporting a horrible person, but in the end, it is your choice. This is my last post here, I know i'm just a nobody who rarely posted, but this community (the nice people) meant a lot to me and kept my passion for videogames alive even in my adult life when I barely have a few hours to spend on this hobby.

It is a bitter end, but I hope whatever alternative is created by former members retains the essence of the good times.

Yes, I'm sure this woman is currently fielding countless talk show offers and book deals because she reluctantly called out a videogame forum moderator in a Facebook post. Totally makes the constant stream of harassment and death threats worth it.

Seriously, try to follow this train of logic even one step further. If this was some sort of grand conspiracy, why would she expose it through a Facebook post where she doesn't even name the dude in question? Only saying the name in a comment after being prodde for it by a third party?

Why not just go to the press with the allegation? There are plenty of gaming sites that would eagerly verify and spread her story. The logical explanation is that she just wanted to vent about a very real moment, while avoiding a huge explosion. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened anyways.

Where are all of these world famous, multi-millionaire rape accusers you seem to think are lurking around every corner? Hell, even Bill Cosby's accusers didn't get any press until an already famous comedian made it a part of his set.

They want the attention, don't give it to them. At the same time though, the community as a whole needs to blow off some steam and those who weather it will lead the way on maintaining an open and insightful dialogue about all of this.

Ya know, I'm just a Junior Member, I post occasionally but not very often and honestly I would like to post more, but the climate on this forum always seemed so one sided. After this incident don't see myself posting anymore after today.

I don't know if the accusations are true, but the way Evilore responded to them seems really shady and suspect. He could have said that the allegations were false, it wouldn't be too hard, but instead he decided to call Leupp mentally ill and crazy to make it seem that she was just having a cry for attention, when it seemed nothing like that from her words and her actions.

Also the deletion of the Off Topic seems bizarre, you can have a non political off topic. But even then what does the current political climate have to do with the accusations. This is just one movement out of many things happening in our world. So people in power have sexually harassed other people? Seems like it, and people now want to speak out about it, and if the accusations are false then why are we not allowed to discuss anything non gaming related? Sure it will be shit show for a while, but then you guys are just going to ban everything you don't agree with like you have always done. You're already doing that with all the suicide posts that are popping up right now. So what difference does it make to get rid of Off Topic unless you just want to silence people on your platform that want to bring up this discussion.

Anyways, like I said, I'm not going to be posting here anymore and you can go ahead and permaban my account if you like. There were some great threads on this forum that I really liked, but I can live without this account. But I agree with The Albatross the most because I feel like OT is getting punished for something that isn't their fault. People are going to see it how they see it, and you know a lot of people don't play games when it comes to sexual assault.

OT was not the problem with GAF. The moderation team and OT was one of the most important and defining parts of GAF. The reason those things have disappeared in the last 48-72 hours is the problem with GAF.

I'm going to be looking at this just from this alone. Mind you that with everything else that was written and previously stated obviously does raise concern. That said, I came to Neogaf a few years ago to talk games and upcoming content; not about those who run the forum.

There was one thing I asked while Neogaf was down and no matter how many times I asked, there was no answer (and more to the point that I was being made off as a guy defending Mr. Lore): What's Neogaf's replacement? In spite of whatever shit that was flung my way, I got no answers. For as "Toxic" as Neogaf can be, I didn't get one person to give me an alternative choice. If one comes up in the future, then I'll go check it out and may migrate over, but until then, I'll stay put here.

If there's a way to make Neogaf a better community, feel free to count me in. If there's an alternative to Neogaf, feel free to reply. This has nothing to do with "Defending EvilLore" by any stretch of the imagination.

I’ve been on GAF for quite some time now. I’ve loved it here. I firmly believed in NeoGAF’s power to spread informative and positive news regarding my favorite hobby. I loved the promotion of healthy, constructive discourse, but sometimes balked at the heavy-handed, power-tripping nature of some of my bans.

I do, however, have a problem. I’ve spent way too much time on NeoGAF as of late. Much to the chagrin of my wife who has a perfectly valid point: I am always on my fucking phone. Even when I’m playing video games, I’m on my phone.

I’m a father of a two-year old who is super adorable and very much deserving of my full attention.

In light of these unfortunate circumstances, I can’t think of a better time to turn in my NeoGAF card and say “adios”.

I highly, highly doubt this forum will return to it’s former glory and prominence anytime soon, judging from the utter shit show that is the front page. Seems like you guys have your work cut out for you.

I firmly believe in “innocent until proven guilty”, and when someone flip flops on their story or backs down from an initial position and can’t remain consistent in their communication of a given situation, it sends mixed signals and red flags. So basically, I don’t like that she deleted her post, wanted to keep her story as a “cautionary tale” before saying “fuck it” and outing Evilore, and I am completely baffled regarding the part where she proceeded to sleep with him after the fact.

All that said...I DO believe that EVERY SINGLE WOMAN is worth listening to and being treated as credible. I do NOT condone dismissing these very serious allegations. BELIEVE women! Ask questions. Investigate. Prosecute when it is warranted. Men who force themselves on women or pressure them into sex are fucking scum. And as for pedophiles, there’s one demographic I’d like to take the job of executioner for. The way this is all being handled is inexcusably bad, it's just a master class in bad executive decisions. There isn't much community left here, but removing the Off Topic forum because the owner of the website allegedly did something disgusting several years ago -- and was identifies -- is punishing the community for disgusting decisions that the owner of the website made.

Evilore, the Off Topic forum did not make you make the wrong decision or do the wrong thing 2 years ago or 5 years ago. The Off Topic forum did not make Amir0x download child pornography. Yes, the Off Topic forum exposes risk for your business (these three issues are examples of that risk), but the reason your business is a business is largely because the site has both a gaming discussion area (which I think is the initial draw for most members) and then an off topic area (which most members also chat in). I think most people here became members to chat about videogames, but then naturally, you chat about other things you're interested in -- sports, movies, music, or the really specific topics like the Black Culture threads, developer/programming threads, or the communities like WrassleGaf or NFLGaf. Punishing those communities because you or your former staff are exposing your business to risk with poor choices is not the right way to handle this.

There have been a number of high profile sexual assaults in the news lately, and while most folks are talking about Harvey Weinstein, Liberty Mutual -- the investment firm -- has also recently fired two employees for sexual misconduct at the workplace. It wouldn't be right for Liberty Mutual to say, "We're not having the company Christmas Party, because Christmas parties is what got us into this mess in the first place," or "We're not going to participate in social out reach because social out reach has made us look like hypocrites with these sexual assaults." No, because it's not The Christmas Party or the Social outreach program that's causing the problem: It's bad, hurtful, or illegal decisions made by you or by some former staff members.

You've always had a reputation for making brash decisions, and most of these have not faired well for you. Poorly thought out statements about Amir0x that bent the truth, came too late, and just weren't handled correctly; decisions to ban certain topics from being discussed; decisions to ban certain members or former staff, and scores of others. This, though, is clearly the worst decision and it shows in inability to accept fault. This decisions seems to simply be another projection: "I've made bad decisions in my life and business, and so the business must be punished." That doesn't make any sense, it's selfish and delusional.

You have an opportunity to make the right decision. Obviously you feel like this site is your baby and "it's your's," but this business exists in spite of you, not because of you. It can be hard for a CEO or business owner to give up something that they think is theirs, many CEOs resist this and are befuddled when their board ousts them for a business that they themselves launched. The right thing for you to do would have been to announce that you're taking an indefinite leave of absence from NeoGaf. Revenue from the site would be put into an escrow account to cover expenses and hire staff who would manage it in your absence. A board of staff (moderators, admins) would be formed to hire staff who would manage the site and support the community. Those would be base level decisions which would ensure, at least, some integrity with the site which would keep at least some members around. The site would persist and could possibly bounce back, ultimately you wouldn't be punishing your customers or your business for your own bad decision. Instead, you made the wrong decision with how this was handled and then continually made the wrong decision with how you're going to move forward with this, instead of holding yourself accountable, you're punishing the community that has made your business successful.

It shows an utter lack of self-awareness which then also undermines any integrity that you're trying to preserve against allegations like the ones you're facing.

I've always believed in the presumption of innocence. No matter how distasteful an allegation is, you can never assume that it is factually correct before it has been tested. Societies are built on people having the benefit of the doubt before being condemned, and it seems that some people are all too quick, for a variety of reasons, to jump on a bandwagon.

The community side is what kept me here, I learned to totally avoid OT since it was a echo chamber cess pool, constant threads of "look at this terrible person being terrible! How terrible!" with nearly copy-paste responses as well. Gaming was sort've the same way as well, post a opposite opinion and get dragged over the coals. Don't like indie games? Hitler.

But, the positive side of the mob mentality is that developers and publishers would get called out left and right and shit would get done QUICK. I highly doubt loot boxes or microtransactions in general would have the light shone on it now if it wasn't for GAF. All the scrubs on twitter like Cliff 'No one plays my game' Blesinski, Boogie 'Both Sides' 9288, Colin 'Politics and Playstations' Morarity, and Arthur 'I'm actually so bad at games' Gies are some examples of GAF doing good in not letting bullshit slide in the gaming industry. They were jumping with glee when GAF went down, pretty sure they are quiet as shit currently.

I'm here for Games, first and foremost. No one has better E3/General Conference coverage, Leaks, and the god damn MEMES to go with it all. Please don't ever take the site down again.

I'm not going to send any kind of message to Tyler Malka since the probability of him actually reading this thread is 0.00000001%. It is obvious his silence during the weekend was because he was seeking legal advice and his statement was probably written by a lawyer.

I wanted to say thank you to all the great people who posted here through the years since 2006 when I joined, but sadly most of them already left.

To the remaining mods, you're supporting a horrible person, but in the end, it is your choice. This is my last post here, I know i'm just a nobody who rarely posted, but this community (the nice people) meant a lot to me and kept my passion for videogames alive even in my adult life when I barely have a few hours to spend on this hobby.

It is a bitter end, but I hope whatever alternative is created by former members retains the essence of the good times.

You know what I've always hated most about Neogaf?

I rarely felt like I could speak my mind. You risked being called something terrible for simply asking a question, or asking for more evidence, or simply being on the fence about something. I realize people hate toxicity, but the ban culture here -fostered- toxicity because the bandwagon attack mobs were allowed to shower insults at will... even if the insults themselves were hate driven ['cunt', for example].

If you asked a question, you were accused of baiting. Do you guys realize how toxic that is? People should always be allowed to ask questions. If you asked for more evidence, you were done. Heck, I fucking hate Trump. But if I mention that? Then clearly, I'm lying... right? I'm just setting up for something else. Bullshit. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. I've been far more left than almost every one here for longer than most here have been alive... but just because I don't agree with their agenda I risk being painted as a fascist, which is absurd. That's a culture of fear. That's censorship through ideology shaming. I guarantee my anarchy trumps your fucking Clinton loving nonsense, but god forbid I say anything against Clinton, because I get painted as a Trump loving fascist. That's sick. Sick, sick, sick. Now, you know what? I don't know if you're guilty of anything. I don't know if what was said to happen happened, and honestly, even if it did, I don't know what signals were or weren't sent, or what level of miscommunication happened. So I don't particularly like that you were summarily executed by mob. My guess is you're full of shit... but I know that's just a guess. I know I have no idea. And I won't execute you for it, just like I wouldn't execute Naughty Dog, even though it was so much fun for people here to leap to ridiculous conclusions based on a single tweet.

But you know what? You fostered an environment that summarily executes with no evidence. So while I hate it, and I'll -always- be on the side of 'wait for more information' regardless of the topic, I can't say I can't see the sick humor of it all. Some people need to learn by example, and if you're truly innocent of all charges, then I hope next time someone gets accused of something you support the presumption of innocence. This is not saying I don't think horrible things happen all the time - they do... my wife has been sexually harassed at work and I know how hard it is to come forward and rock the boat.

If you're guilty, then I hope you learn. Evolve. Grow. Become a better person. Everyone can change, even though some swear no one can.

If you're innocent, then also learn. Evolve. Grow. The culture of 'no proof needed' you fostered is sick... it flies in the face of everything our collective cultures have learned and fought for over the past few millennia. You reaped what you sowed, and it's either ironic, or horrifying, based on your guilt... which I can never know.

I'll probably get banned for this post. I don't think I said anything worth being banned for. In fact, I think this is a pretty fair assessment of both your actions, the accusations against you, and the general culture of this site. If you ban me, fine. If you don't, I'll still be here, posting, because, honestly, I don't judge a community on a single individual member. Heck, I don't judge -you- based on actions of a previous you, because I know people change over time.

People learn. People grow. People evolve. Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. Now it's time for you to do so, and in the process, evolve this site so it doesn't become an echo chamber of toxicity against anything deemed toxic.

I'm not a rude person and I won't be that now either. I've been posting here pretty much daily since 2005, it's with sorrow in my heart that I now ask the mods to remove this account. I simply can't support the board and helping the owner making more money with the attitude he's shown over the years and especially now and how he's dealing with this serious issue. I know the board will survive but I don't want to be part of it.
