This site does really have a reputation for being quite left leaning and being quite political during the current Trump era, so not sure why after a sexual accusation, he just wants to block both sides. Like, he is screwing up more I think.
 
Just look at this shit being flung now, saying that because someone later sleeps with someone that assaults them, that the accusation is automatically false. This is what inherits the smoldering corpse.

I don't know if what was said to happen happened, and honestly, even if it did, I don't know what signals were or weren't sent, or what level of miscommunication happened. Wow, no surprise. You're not banned, and not because of decreased moderation but because your post isn't really profound. It is actually pretty vapid, deluded, and not worth a ban.

The moderators have done great work and are part of what made the site stay high in quality to 2017 (that's a long run). A lot that you don't see is taken for granted. This false sense of emergency to "hiveminds", "mod abuse", "fostering opinions", and "toxicity" is just a emotionally manipulative way to call for new management. Really pathetic, Tyler could see resignation facing allegations, mods come and go, but there is no emergency like you are speaking of.

It's people who drink the same punch as you that I think harass the mods in the first place.
 
Speaking realistically, the site cannot continue to grow or even be credible with the current owner under it's banner. That's just the reality. If you care about the community you helped to create, you should have the tenacity to hand over the keys to someone else so it can grow, Evilore. That's just how it is, when controversy comes out from someone holding office that person needs to resign to retain that office's credibility.

Can we just get back to being Gaf. People are to quick to play the blame game without hearing both sides. I understand you may not like certain people and this and that but let it play out itself. I have no business judging anyone without them having their say and I would hope if I was ever accused of anything that I would get to tell my side as well.

Let it play itself out and then make a decision after. There's no need for threats or putdowns for either party.
I'm just glad Gaf is back. We have a wonderful community of people and I do honestly think there is no community out there like Gaf. Whether you agree or not let's just get back to gaffing :)

it is sad that GAF crumbled from within. Not that outsiders, even people like Xbox executives, werent happy with how things turned.

If you want a smaller moderation team that focuses just on gaming topics and some basic and safe hobby and general discussion topics, at the cost of the already established community, it is your site and your decision. Not that I agree with it.

There was already a rift, sometimes toxic, between GD and gaming. Since GAF is a gaming site first and foremost,focus should be on the former.
Site is not ripe for political discussions.

As for the whole allegation thing, I agree it is better to separate personal lifes from mod and forum accounts and personalities. This created toxic armies,ready to jump or defend anything the leader wanted,sometimes due to fear or backlash. GAF is one of the most talked about forums and for bad reasons.
 
Very glad that the site is back. Gaf is a remarkable community and has been a source of countless valuable insights through the years.

I hope this debacle could democratize the ownership of the platform and forum so that any issues with the owners would affect operations less than what now has transpired.

he's not gonna step down, he gets a pretty insane amount of money for doing nothing and letting unpaid volunteers run the show until he screws things up.

he's shown that the community isnt what he actually cares about, it's keeping himself in charge and his decisions important.
 
I've always used the site towards gaming news and discussions... if that's where things are going to be refocused I'm more than glad to stick around. GAF is bigger than any one person.
 
All I will say is that I believe in innocent until proven guilty and that intentions matter. Perhaps all the people running account suicide should think about that. But they won't. Luckily, I expect this site will survive. The community is better than this.

Its better this way. A lot of people have been banned in the heat of political discussions the last two years.

Imo if OT returns it should be about discussing gaffers embarrasing moments and ordering italian food.

You're right it's contextual. In the context of a stranger (mailwoman) performing their job duties and you answering the door naked, it's sexual assault. In the context of two people who are at least comfortable enough to share a hotel room together, it's not so black and white. If I went in for a kiss with said mailwoman, it would be sexual assault. If I went in for a kiss with a friend who was sharing a hotel room with me, and she wasn't interested, it would be a misunderstanding.

Evilore is denying the situation took place the way she said it did, but I'm choosing to believe her side of the story. If it happened the way she told it, that wouldn't constitute sexual assault (in my opinion). Awkward yes, presumptuous definitely, cringe-worthy 100%, but I wouldn't say it clears the definition of sexual assault by any means as long as he did not press the advance after she made it clear she was non-consenting.
 
I'm super outta the loop (prolly due to sticking to the gaming side of the forums) but whats with the cries of "to afraid to speak my mind"?? That gut instinct of second guessing saying whats on your mind prolly means you were about to post something crappy. Think before you speak cause there could be consequences for what ya say. This is very basic stuff learned at early ages right?

My first and only ban because I reacted very much like you was the result of saying I don't like some PlayStation games and I got quoted and attacked by like a dozen people who would swear and throw insults everything and only I got banned with the message "don't do console fanboy wars" or whatever. After that I always had to be careful to not enter or say anything remotely bad about PlayStation because I knew that means I get banned again.

And that's why this place for one but many reasons was a terrible place.

Nah, his post is great and echos the feelings of many here. Your one sided politics destroyed gaf long before this misunderstanding. I hope Tyler can bring this forum back to its former glory now that the problems are leaving of their own volition.

I was mostly unaware of how the greater political sphere operated until I started reading political and social topics on neogaf. I'm not parsing: Neogaf shaped my current attitude towards most of politics.

Choosing to throw out the entirety of discourse because of the "harsh and unwelcoming" atmosphere it created doesn't make Neogaf any better.

It makes you and anyone who supports the decision a coward.

I registered on this forum a decade ago because it was the preeminent website for breaking news and insider information within the gaming industry.

It was perplexing to watch NeoGAF turn into something else over the years, a ridiculous political hotbed where any remotely controversial thread would leave a MGS3 The Sorrow-esque trail of banned users in its wake. Not surprising that overt political identity has becomes its undoing.

Should have kept it simple.
