The game was literally created with the intent of being anti-women.
That's a fact. I'm sorry that you were able to look last that and got annoyed that others spoke out against it.

Returning to strictly gaming discussion is probably a great move in terms of ad-revenue and growing the readership---which in turn grows ad-revenue---after all the furor dies down. Probably should have happened a long time ago.
The legit discussions had in off-topic can be had on any number of other sites whereas on the other hand there is nothing on the same level as GAF when it comes to gaming.
And let's be honest, there was very little social-political discourse in offtopic. It was an echo chamber where if you didn't jump on the same bandwagon as everybody else you risked the pitchforks or a temp ban.
I will miss the TV/movie stuff, learned about a lot of shows I otherwise would have missed.

Succinctly put. This is the attitude that has permeated GAF over the years and put off everyone.
Pic related has been GAF for the past few years. And the prior mods, not all, but many enforced that attitude and line of thinking.

I'm in the U.S. and while things are certainly going south here, we are still free to buy, create and talk about what we want.
Even video games made in poor taste.
If there is a topic about a game that is about hate towards women, it is not a "derail" to bring it up.

The sad part about all of this is that there seems to be a group of people who believe only in extremism, either right or left, that there is no middle-ground. The lefties running around crying alt-right are just the other face of the coin they're railing against.
As far as the OP's question goes: I'd think any gaming-related topic with social/political aspects that made it into the main forum before this would still be welcome in the main forum.

We've all seen it happen. Being banned for not being able to respond to a dog pile is not shit posting and is a crap excuse to ban people. But it's how many of the old mods skirted the TOS and banned people they didn't like.

Free speech has nothing to do with moderators on a message board not wanting bigotry on their forum.

On top of that what if people want to talk about the art style or sound design or the technology behind it? It looked fairly fresh and interesting in that regard. I personally can't see why if people want to discuss such things it needs to be shot down and flooded with "omg misogyny/sexism!" posts.
