All people who claim to be "ex-gays" are lying. They turn away from their true sexuality and either become celibate or they get into a marriage with barely any sex. Closeted people are still common. They will lie to themselves and others so that they fit in. When people are still killed in some areas of the world for being gay, doesn't it make sense for some people to be so scared about fitting in, that they lie to themselves and create a fake life, just so that they aren't killed or ostracized?

Your sexuality doesn't change from gay to bi to straight to pan to bi to gay etc etc, or at least it doesn't radically change in that sense. Since I'm not bisexual or pan or whatever, I can't say for sure, but I've never heard of someone claiming that they go through phases of being gay then straight unless they have Borderline Personality Disorder. It's not a choice.

It's just funny to me how some people don't think about it for a few seconds: if being gay is truly a choice, why in the world would anyone WANT to be harassed/ostracized/threatened/physically harmed/killed? It makes no damn sense. People come out and it's such a big deal to them for this reason alone. It's hard. Because there's still so many people who think it's a choice and they hate or look down on these people for it.

I'm not going to speak for him, but the whole post was explaining that his beliefs are not what defines him. Why does it bother anyone what he believes in as long as he is respectful to others, which he stated he is.

I cannot understand what it's like being a homosexual in this world, but I do know that my friend who is a born again Christian doesn't agree with how I live my life, does she judge me for it? No, is she a good friend, very much so. I don't agree with her lifestyle that doesn't make me ignorant.

How are you not understanding that it's wrong? It's wrong for him to not accept it because it is not a choice. Your friend made a choice to be a born-again Christian. That guy's brother did not have a choice in being gay. The only choice he made was choosing to attempt living a normal life just like everybody else. That is not something someone should have the "right" to accept or not accept. Stop enabling homophobia/ignorance towards homosexuality.

If the person you're referring to is religious, their acceptance of gay "lifestyle" may be referring to the act of intercourse. I didn't understand the position either as I'm not religious but my father is devoutly catholic so I asked him one day. He told me the Catholic church accepts homosexuality but they don't accept the act of intercourse in such a relationship. So essentially, if you're homosexual but remain celibate, they're accepting.
 
I no longer hold these views. They came from a place of ignorance. Apologies to anyone who was hurt or offended by these posts.

You are right sexuality is a spectrum and people fall in one place or another, but its complicated.

The reason what you say is problematic its because many, many times people use that excuse to tell you its NOT ok to be Gay, and that it was/its your choice, justifying their own homophobia. not uncommon at all.

Also people abandoning the "community" (as if they were Gay because a community) don't become Straight just because they found the word of God, many of them simply chose to control their urges in an effort to fit in, with varying results.its all because straight people don't accept Homosexuality comes naturally and its nasty (except Lesbians they are hot)

Because it's not wrong to him. It's wrong to you. I believe gay people should do whatever the hell they want, they are people after all just like all us straighties. People can marry a cat for all I believe in.

What you are upset about is that he disapproves of gay people getting married, probably because of religious beliefs. But his brother is gay, he has no ill will, nor does it seem that he goes out of his way to preach. Maybe he is just "old fashioned". Gay marriage is in its infancy and year by year is becoming more widely understood.

But to verbally attack someone who isn't there just yet because their entire upbringing doesn't fall in line with yours?
