As far as politics and gaming, some of the stuff that went on in the gaming side just went too far. Seeing a thread about somebody asking what is the better game to get out of A Hat in Time and Yooka Laylee and the general consensus in the thread being A Hat in Time is better but get Yooka Laylee because they got rid of Jon Tron was just bizarre to me. I would rather Jon Tron not be in A Hat in Time but I am not going to play or recommend a worse game because of it.
The constant threads about Jon Tron being in games was crazy. And I say that as somebody who does not like that guy. I hate that guy, but he can be ignored in those games. Was he even paid for those games? Royalties?

His statement was over 15 days ago and not related to GAF in any way.
But yeah, seems like you guys are perfectly fine calling "civilized discourse" at people calling feminists sexual harassers. That's certainly quite the interesting definition.

Wow, I came here to post about the numbers increasing and hadn't noticed it was just being discussed.
It was 195.303 yesterday.
I also wouldn't make the most publicly suspicious move possible if I was innocent.
Most people wait months before getting their accounts approved. If no one signed up from this day forth there would be more people joining everyday for the next few months. Did people suddenly forget this?
It is a bit sad that he was treated that way. It's clear he doesn't believe he's doing any harm and simply doing what he thinks is fair to everyone, which I think is an admirable goal, even if you could consider it misguided. But the way people spoke about him on here you'd think he was one of the most actively evil people in the world.
The hatred aimed at him whenever somebody brought him up was ridiculous. I don't believe the way to change harmful opinions is to act like a complete asshole towards them. It doesn't just apply to changing Boogie's mind specifically, but that would make you come across as unreasonable to anybody else who holds that opinion. I can't imagine I'd ever stop to listen to someone who's just throwing hate my way, even if it turned out that they had a good reason to do so.
I find it funny when the self proclaimed moral police takes such a high ground despite posting on this site for years knowing Tyler's history and months after Amirox. Well, sad and funny.

The weird thing isn't that numbers are still increasing post GAF implosion. It's that they seem to be increasing at a much faster rate than usual.

Is definitely the case. T'd love to many how many have been approved in the last 48hrs and how many are left. I imagine there's an absolute ton to use as and when they need to bulk out.

Just have to say that I do think the link filtering, pm limits, etc... is really unnecessary. If people want to leave then let them. If they want to mention the name of another forum then that should be fine as well. Were adults and should be able to handle it imho. Neogaf shouldnt be worried about another forum starting up, it should just focus on being the best that it can be and if people want to stay then they will.

That's the way Gaf has been for some time now. At least when involving social issues. Disagree even slightly would sometimes create a label on an individual. Exactly way Gaf got a reputation of being a echo chamber. Social Gaf didn't welcome discussion, only agreement.

As far as I know, registration is open, that does not mean accounts are approved. So if you're basing that solely on the registration number going up, thats wrong. That said, if you find a new user who has a join date of today or something... then I can see what you mean.

We will never know. All I can say is that my account was approved two weeks after registering to NeoGAF.

I don't plan to leave the site like many have chosen to do. The things you've been accused of aren't OK, but I'd rather not whip out the torch and pitchfork until we get some more information.
We're all here for a common interest: Video Games. This site has it's issues, With the moderation being a large one, but in the end, we're here to discuss something we all love.
