Things are fairly nice up here right now, even if identity politics is starting to creep in a bit. We don't need them up here rabble rousing everything and stirring the shit about nothing.

LOL I also hate to see Germany made so many Top 5 lists. But the good news is, that American's can't establish residency here unless they make 40.000€ or more. This eliminates basically 99% of ERA users.

Does it matter? I doubt that most people in this thread speak Scandinavian or Japanese either.

The paradox world these people live in is so confusing. White people hating white people and white culture but refusing to live in any other culture and blaming white culture for the failure of every other culture. It makes my head spin.

That was a problem here as well. If i recall correctly, some mods would post ultimatums stating that if the user doesn't reply in X amount of time (sometimes a few hours) to clarify any "problematic" opinion they got piled on, they would get banned. Really scummy shit, specially since it assumes the user browses the forum every hour.

I don't have an exact instand on Era, since I no longer browse there, but I remember a mod warning someone that they better participate in so many words. It happens far more often to OPs that have not responded since making a thread for an hour or two of their meltdowns.

That is indeed annoying since its more of a fire and forget thread. Although, the other way around (an OP consistently doubling down) aint great either.

Still, The Names ban-threatening if people dont answer in a fixed amount of time would be an expected response though. I do wish we had some examples to go through. :)

I don't have any myself since I haven't posted there in awhile. It was pretty common for a user to post something against the accepted viewpoint of a thread and get dogpiled. They would try to reply to a few posts, but it would be impossible to reply to them all. Then people would complain that the user was selectively replying to posts and they would get in trouble.

I also remember a user complaining a few months ago about some posts and a mod suggesting they put people they do not care for on ignore. The user then mentioned he got warned once for not replying to a debate. But he didn't see the debate because he had blocked a few people due to a previous thread. I can't remember which thread this was in since it has been awhile.

Nobody expects article authors to hang around their comments sections and engage, so I fail to see the issue with an OP having to engage instantly from posting an article that they did not write in the first place.

Not every response is worthy of quoting and respoinding back to. Heck, it just makes for spam, but I guess when they want that add revenue and page refreshes, a simple, *quote* "I agree" is encouraged, then again, you may get warned for "low effort". ;)

The 'like buttons' here are a welcoming feature, since not everything garners a response other than the most simplest of agreements sometimes.

Ok guys, we all now that GAF is like a ghost town compared with Era when it comes to news/fresh topics right now. Do you think that the forums will heal with time, attract new users, burst with life and again be the best video game news/discussion aggregator on the web? Or just a bunch of alt-right maniacs, how they like to call us on Era?

I have yet to see any "alt-right" maniacs that aren't immediately removed and they are few and far between. As for the new/fresh topics - they have been increasing exponentially over the past few months as has the member base. Within the past month alone, a large amount of people were unbanned and returned (or were banned on the other site and have returned). This will only increase with time.

Now will NeoGaf be as large/prominent as it once was? I don't think it will and that isn't a bad thing. I prefer the smaller, more intimate discussions that have some actual merit in them from both sides (outside of a few choice members who seem to do their damnedest to not provide any actual discussion and only fire hottakes). It will grow and it's reputation may heal over time, assuming there are no power-hungry members that are given power.

If the data we currently have is anything to go by - they will collapse into a point of no return within the next couple of years. Unless something changes, they are bleeding members and views at an alarming rate. Plus they are already the butt of most of the internets jokes.

I found a theory on KiwiFarms that the whole EviLore scandal bullshit was just a attempt of taking control of GAF by sickos. Of course the owner didn't let go, so the mass bannings begun to supply Era with new users, who were promised a dream come true gaming forum. Instead all the aware and nonaware sheep landed in the insane SJW run sloughterhouse.

Don't know if it's true or another conspiracy theory, though. What's interesting is that KiwiFarms are cheering for GAF and shittinf on Era for over 380 forum pages.

I can see how some people would see it like that to be honest. But at the same time, it's more so a place to just laugh at some of the ridiculous moderation being done on the site. And to be fair, ResetEra isn't necessarily viewed in a positive light amongst many other message boards.
