Which is a shame, really.

Shinobi was one of the best voices of this site before 16' happened. It is a shame what the perception of having authority (moral authority at that) over something/someone can do to you, and it is a case-study of what a rude awakening of the loss of said perceived authority leads to some people, even the most benign ones.
 
Even a resetera mod seems to realize what caused the James Gunn Situation^^

This is the very problem with going after people for things they did in the past. The internet had no problem doing it when the targets were just.

Yeah, Frank is obnoxious, to put it politely, and comes across as a real jerk in his posts. Unfortunately, as a fan of Halo I have to see his face occasionally if I want to follow the franchise. I don't miss his Bungie era community manager PR bullcrap (Halo 3 leak is only a red herring folks!) or his juvenile sense of humor (fart jokes, Mister Chief and interwebz, LOLOL!).

Has shinobi been active on the site lately? I haven't seen much of him at least in threads I happened to be reading over the past few months. He seemed far more active back during the "honeymoon period" but that could be an inaccurate anecdotal experience of mine.

But man, that'd be something, if he really does fully endorse the asshattery, even after what the type of attitude the site endorses did to him early last year (leading to him leaving gaf entirely). He DARED to post some positive impressions of Mass Effect Andromeda just prior to launch. And at launch, during "my face is tired"-gate, the mob absolutely eviscerated him. It was one of the most embarrassing displays I've ever seen (well, at least until some of the displays on era since then HA).

I'm very surprised to see them defend Gunn's tweets. I mean they are all about freedom of speech but no freedom from consequences there.
They celebrated almost any firing for anything that they deemed offensive.
Even worse they were happy about Count Dankula getting sentenced which is even worse to me because in that case it was actually the government going after someone!
Now I read their thread and a lot of them lament that humor is dead and edgy jokes are ok... but nazi pug was unnaceptable?

Twitter is just as fast if not faster, and not every bit of news is worth even a post on IMO. Just makes for a mess sometimes.

It is just a race to post first, which you see more often than not, because the OP's are usually garbage initially, and then they edit in all the stuff after.

In the other hand the discussion here is far beyond one-line posts, which account to hundreds of replies there.

Unfortunately I'm not a Twitter guy. Maybe I should give another shot, but not sure who to follow for the latest and greatest in gaming.

I always smile when I read something lie, you have been fooled/brainbrainswashedrump or lies, and yet the person cannot use self reflection and critical think to see that thye themselves can be subject to propaganda and manipulation.
I mean the demographic is young impressionable boys so its hardly a surprise they have been manipulated the most.

I just follow the companies themselves, and a few of the developers. Some people that are retro gamers, and a few fantastic YouTube pages that do gaming documentaries and the like. You usually see stuff right away due to at least one of them liking or retweeting something. I agree about it being a little lite now on gaming side, but it will pick up steam I feel, since the moderation is a breath of fresh air compared to what it was before.

Cerium is to NeoGAF's moderators what Vade's orbiters were to Vade: There to attack people and get away with it. I wonder if this will be wake up moment for some people on the left. They weaponised the social media and used them to witch hunt people with conservative opinions for years trying and succeeding in getting people fired.

Now the other side in a very ugly way used the same methods against them giving them taste of their own medicine.

I kept trying to find the post, because it was the only time I talked to Cerium on this forum, it was in the thread Evilore made about the accusations that I guess is not on the forum now, but I was voicing my concern (or concern trolling as they would call it I guess) about the fact that Resetera had their policy not to discuss GAF, and that I thought it was counterproductive towards discussion.

He said I was "delusional", I showed him an image of his policy, the same one you guys posted here, and he never responded.

That was all the interaction I needed from him...

I really wish I could find that post again, but unless I can locate that thread it isn't in my history.

I just wanted to mildly vent about that one, because it seemed so sketchy, and was kind of surreal in a way.

I think the solution is and always will be to elect more black representatives. You can't trust a room full of white people to care about black issues anymore than you can trust a room full of men to care about women's rights. Diversity and representation at the top is extremely important because the people who care about these issues the most are going to be the ones that bring them with them.
