One of my bans was because I described a girl I met online as using up every inch of my widescreen ips monitor........flagged as sexist...fat shaming and a mysoginist

Fair whack I suppose....Was a pretty shitty thing to say looking at it from the outside but the girl is still a good friend and she talks back to males like that .....ex army and she works in a meat room packing meat with butchers so you probably guess she knows how to give and take and would probably tell you to fuck off if you try and treat her like a lady

Different life experiences for me and very quick to judge by someone with little life experience

You sure went through the ringer. I'm sorry for the pain you went through, but it gives me faith that things have really changed here, and it won't just be temporary. I mean, you've learned first-hand, in a way few of us have, how it feels to be targeted by SJW/feminist/PC types. They can be incredibly toxic, intolerant, knee-jerk reactive, and destructive. I don't think you'll let them anywhere near the controls again, anymore than a guy who just got divorce raped will be excited about getting married.

Reading this thread sure is an eye-opener. I'm still a little mystified at why the new boss is the same as the old boss (got fooled again), but regardless of how it happened, it sure has become apparent. Resetera is just as SJW/feminist/PC and prohibitive of the free exchange of ideas as old GAF ever was, and perhaps worse.

"Avatar shaming, dismissing concerns of whatever-ism, tone policing," etc. On and on. What a joke.

I don't think that's fair whack. You made a sarcastic crack about how fat she was. Big deal. That's hardly "misogynist" or "sexist." I guess you could call it "fat shaming," but ... eh. You weren't talking about another member. You were talking about someone who wasn't even there, and who wouldn't be offended anyhow. And even if she were, ok, maybe that's a rude thing to say, but it doesn't deserve a ban. Leave it to the woman to handle it herself. Sounds like she's capable. These white knight/SJW types, always coming to the rescue of damsels in distress. That's pretty condescending.

Sorry for the double post, but I felt like commenting. The culture has slid so far toward the PC left, we've lost touch with what real give-and-take looks like. In no way should you be banned and called a sexist and misogynist for making a fat joke.

It was such a strange time, and when I first heard that description [radical left] it actually felt like things were starting to make sense. I really don't like pop-terminology; that is those handful of terms you tend to see pop up for a period of time ("dog-whistle, "bad-faith", "bad-actors"... ect), but I actually do feel like the radical left was the perfect description to regain some semblance of balance.

And so I can imagine it must be frustrating being labeled a radical, it is certainly frustrating being labeled alt-right (supposedly this forum is now taken over by NDP voting alt-righters like me, according to some Era posters), so i'm sure hitting the "centeralists", who "most damagingly stand idly by" or whatever the meme is, is about the only thing they can do, because they've made a mockery of themselves and the entire left, and it has been highly frustrating for me to stand by and watch them clown around and damage the movement of progress we worked so hard to get to with sheer arrogance and lustful pride.

The main issue is there are so many sheep following a small few...most people don't honestly know what is really going on and it's pretty clear they are going out of their way to silence/sanction anyone who may reveal it.

Gonna be a big...we told you so moment coming I think.

They have been cannibalizing their own. I've actually seen transpeople get banned for "transphobia" because they didn't tote the most rigid of their ideology. Black people get banned for speaking up against victim status (not needing the "white saviors" to speak for them/demeaning) etc., etc..

It's a political cult.

Yeah well for our small circle it was NeoGAF imploding, for the wider population James Gunn, and you have to assume it will continue to escalate further in the future.

It makes sense when you think about it from a temperamental perspective, in that the right tends to be higher in trait orderliness, and the left in liberalism (defined by a readiness to challenge authority, convention, and traditional values.), so they temperamentally are unlikely to form and maintain large structures over the long run, which I think is why you eventually see them eat themselves from the inside out, and there's almost nothing you can say or do to stop it from happening. And then it's the right's job to take what was useful from that process and integrate it into itself in a more stable manner, and then repeat the process again.

I suspect most of us here are high in both trait openness and conscientiousness, so we probably tend to sit somewhere in the middle, as the "radical centrist", ready to radically... attempt to reason things out with respectful dialogue?

Is it actually about trans acceptance though? There's male, female (just ban me now), and gender dysphoria. All this xie, zir, kin wordplay bullshit is tumblr fantasyland leaking into the real world. A bunch of spoiled children who have had no real adversity in their lives LARPing as people with serious medical conditions for attention. It's insulting to people with legitimate gender dysphoria.
