One of his central promises for the election was deeply routed in racism and his travel ban is, as well. This does not excuse other people's racism, but Trump certainly has quite a few racist policies.
I disagree. His promises for the election was rooted in establishing law and order. That it disproportionately affected a particular race is not evidence of racism, it's just evidence that of the reality of the situation, which is that most undocumented immigrants are of a particular race. But he has shown that he is serious about immigration on all fronts equally. He passed restrictions on H1-B visas, making it harder for people to come here on work visas. That has almost zero effect on hispanics.

The travel ban is not racism either, as "muslim" isn't a race. And it did not even affect all muslim countries anyway, it only affected the ones which had the highest terrorist activity (ignoring Saudi Arabia though, can't explain that one). Indonesia is predominately muslim, that wasn't on the list of banned countries. Neither was Jordan. But North Korea was, and that's not even Muslim. So was Venezuela. So yea, travel ban had nothing to do with racism.

ERA losing their minds that there are black people who support Trump.

I wish I could laugh but the reactions are pretty disgusting. Reverse the roles in some of these posts and we would hear "racist! racist!".
Such as this post.

How do we call black folks that turn on their own? Uncle Toms? Cause this guy is a total Uncle Tom.

Trump was actually really liked among blacks before the election for the work he did in elevating blacks in corporate jobs.

edit: I'm almost tempted to post that vid in the thread.

Skin color is the most important thing to ERA and they believe 100% of all people of the same skin color need to think exactly alike or they are "turning against their own". God forbid people have their own thoughts and opinions.

On a real note, I really do hope Trump passes something about giving convicted felons (murder, pedophilia, excluded of course) a second chance. My best friend (that I grew up with) is a convicted felon and has owned up to his mistakes and I hate seeing him struggle to find a decent job.

Dont get me wrong, I love food itself. I love trying spicy, aromatic dishes and also a big fan of seafood. But the act of chewing food and devouring it is so savage and barbaric to me. Especially in group settings. Also this is not a vegetarian vs non vegetarian thing. I am sitting here eati g greek salad. I get why we need to eat. I just wish we were more dignified and consumed energy from the sun or wind or something. The whole idea of eating is very disruptive and undignified. It doesnt matter if you have table manners or if you use forks.

Classic reeee post. This is the future of our country. We need a new word like incels but that describes people like this.

Really hard pill for me to swallow this post
While I respect your view on giving people a second chance I find child molesters/sex crimes and violence against women absolutely deplorable.

I think there are degrees of crime and I would agree that people sometimes get in with the wrong crowd even if they are good people...these sort of things need to be looked at but as mentioned...if you fuck a child..rape or beat up a woman you deserve everything you get to be honest.

Hope your friend was convicted on dumb shit and not the latter.

No, I agree with you there. Murderers, pedophiles, rapists, etc, should be excluded from a second chance program.

My friend was not convicted of anything like that.

Yeah, you can be a convicted felon for just marijuana, which is insane that they don't grant clemency to those convicted for it, especially in the states that legalized it.

In my opinion, that's an example where laws are not always morally or ethically just.

This is what gets me the most. The attitude at ERA is that if you ain't black you're automatically wrong about everything and should be listening and learning from the black folk. They almost pretend other minorities don't exist but they don't give a fuck. They're the most "oppressed" race.

Or the attitude that lumps white and Asians together when it suits them?

Anything that is outside these parameters is assumed with bad intent. This defined perspective also does not allow them to change their tune and re-adjust in conversations, and above all, they feel their way of thing is correct and absolute, because they are trans. They are the ones dealing with these issues (They aren't wrong in that regard) but they make the mistake that because they are dealing with it, they are always right, full stop. And that is where problems arise: The unwillingness to treat others with differing views as people with differing views but shun them for having those views. All the while they want their views to be respected and to be absolute.
That was what bugged me so much about the state of this place before the split, the idea that one cross-section of society couldn't chime in about another.

One of the beautiful things about people is that we are all so different. And i'm sure we've all run into a problem that seemed complicated from our perspective but was easily solved from another. And vice versa. There has been so much great advice I have received from people throughout my life, and I would like to think i've been able to provide a different perspective to others myself. Each side has SO MUCH to offer the other, the idea that one shouldn't be allowed to offer their unique perspective is just absurd to me.

You have absolute geniuses on all sides; straight, gay, trans, or however you want to present yourself. For myself personally I think the Wachowski Sisters redefined cinema with The Matrix (missing my favorite film only by Synecdoche), the father of theoretical computer science was a gay man named Alan Turing, and I think some straight people did some neat stuff here or there.

All of us, with our unique perspectives, all worked together, each of us chiming in on the others work and life, and all of us have progressed forward toward a world that has at least at this moment seen the least amount of poverty and war world-wide, statistically speaking, which has only continued on a brilliant upward curve.

I don't think concepts like love, fear, or oppression are foreign to anyone, or should be off-limits for anyone to discuss. The Taoist philosophy is that from any perspective one inhabits there is a place that is higher and a place that is lower. These feelings are universal among all of us. If I tell you i'm feeling lonely, and I wish I had a partner, you can understand that. If I tell you I feel like people don't accept me, you can understand that as well. I'm sure there are things about yourself that you feel society doesn't accept.

My experience isn't so alien from yours, although it is a little different, and in a weird way to insulate that it is is almost self defeating. To say that you can't understand my experience is to say that you and I are so different that there cannot be communication, thus the unity I wanted will be forever lost.

What is left? Eternal conflict?

Well from an outside perspective, if you look at the history of it all and inner cities today currently. It is kinda messed up in certain situations.

I mean I used to work in Dallas in some very rough areas, I'm talking apartment complexes with high crime rates, drugs. The apathy, and depression can feel overwhelming. It's almost like an external pressure of negativity sometimes that you can feel pushing down on you. Like a collection of negative thoughts that have coalesced into a cloud over the area. It's really fucking weird.

The best possible way I can explain is, you ever see a sports championship game, the home team is winning and the crowd is into it and everyone talks about how the air just feels electric. Well this is like the antithesis of that.

Not all the complexes were like that though and it wasn't like that all the time in rough complexes.

I'm guessing the dude is probably referring to people giving the brony community a hard time after that my little pony dude who worked on the show got caught with pedo stuff.

This is going to shock you all, but for once we agree. I know you all think of me as being some brown noser that is wedged up the ass of Era, but I do not support their behavior in that thread at all in any way whatsoever.

If you open a thread for criticism and feedback then you are obligated to listen to criticism and feedback. Not just the arguments that you wish to hear, but ALL arguments. If they are false and incorrect then prove them to be so. You can't just say "you are wrong" and then threaten to close the thread.

Though I do know from very reliable sources that various other staff members are not okay with that move. I think its very safe to say that the next feedback thread with have very different guidelines and moderation.

You are entitled to your opinions. Even the ones in defense of ERA. It's all good.

That highlights the whole issue I have with the forum. Differing opinions are met with hostility and rudeness, rather then any intelligent form of debate. People end up banned/warned, or the threads get shut down. It is a problem with the moderation and it trickles down to the userbase.

I just got finished taking notes (Yes... i take notes - save me plz) and you could literally dedicate two parts on this. You see, amongst those 500+ posts are a big bunch of staff responses that, when formed together, perfectly paint a picture of ERA's The Names actual policies. Such a post i am making would just summarize this, so to avoid the usual questions that arise in this thread.

Also send help because i am literally the wordsmith version of Crunklord's dedication to his banbot lol

Why? You are actually gonna spend time on that?
Yes. Purely from a outside - looking - inside perspective the kind of atmosphere and belief system that is present there is incredibly interesting to watch.

Also, that thread is one of those things i previously remarked upon that i would report/comment - A single post with ''This is transphobic - banned'' is something not worth my time anymore. Like they say there, things evolve.

That's it however. Seeing most of the other posts in this topic, i am already stepping out of this thread as we speak and make proper GAF threads. There is only so much critique you can do (Before you go insane /s), plus that thread makes it rather obvious that implosion is currently in progress.

lmao Destiny (Twitch streamer) got banned from REEera:

Too lazy rn to cap the whole post:
https://www.resetera.com/posts/11099812/

His viewers/community are very liberal, so way to burn another group of people.
I really do not understand this, he acknowledges in this precise posting that such slurs can cause pain to people and that they are problematic, he is just discussing that the conclusion "someone uses a slur -> the person hates the group this slur is aimed at" is incorrect and would require a more thorough look at intentions and circumstances. It is a pretty nuanced view. Sometimes I get the impression that nuance is actually what is the most dangerous thing at Resetera if you do not want to be banned :/. Short drive bys are met with a warning, whereas a detailled argument, especially if it is concerned with precision, is mighty dangerous.

Knowledge is power. Stamp out anyone who can awaken one's mind from the authoritarian narrative.

Welcome to a new installment of...

m7RYtm2.jpg

In this installment, we take an analysis at ERA's very own feedback thread. The lead admin of the site is looking for feedback. Little does he know that his little request would go on to paint a really pretty picture of the policy of The Names and their Little Helpers, outlined by The Names itself! All one has to do is pay close attention to what they are typing, because there is a catch to be found here. (Also because i need help lol)

Ofcourse, in typical ERA fashion, their idea of a weekend is different from what most other people consider a weekend as the thread is locked. But don't worry, A floating head still can remember how long a weekend lasts. :)

Disclaimer: Whilst semi-humorous in nature, this post also will try to summarize and detail what the real policy constitutes on ERA, a translation of some sort. It is to serve as a go-to post to highlight the policy that is at place. However, it is not all encompassing, but because The Names have being surprisingly transparent in their sayings in this particular thread, it makes good source material. Ever found it weird why The Names act like they act? Ever doubted their policies? Here it will be outlined, once and for all.

Lets start off with the report system. Isn't it odd that you report a post that is problematic, but you just occassionally recieve feedback? Well, as it happens, not everything that you report will get actioned. But they keep everything logged, so, that makes it okay, i suppose. A video reply about: ''If you could change one thing about this Tribe, what would it be?... Cookies?'' isnt bad faith or shit posting apparently, or is this with the title: ''I got a lot of problems with you people!''

However, that is taking things way too easy. The reason why some get a notice and others dont has various reasons, as is outlined by a member of The Names. One is that only the last reporter gets a notice. Everybody else is out of luck. They send that notice to create positive reinforcement and encourage new reports. But they admit, they don't do this always, as to not discourage people from making future reports. I am sure that explains why crappy OT's that ive mentioned here before are allowed to stay on - They just don't want to discourage their community from making future reports.

And this is a decision made per-moderator. So one staff member may send a message, but the other might not. Just to give you an impression of how chaotic that policy is. You simply are just flipping a coin and hoping your geniune report about a crappy thread or poster sees through. In practice, truly problematic stuff only gets addressed when there are sufficient numbers of reports. When only one user reports a clear violation of the rules, it does not get addressed. And by clear violation, i am talking about lesser issues like incomplete OP's or oneliner threads/list threads. The bigger priority is ofcourse with enforcing offensism and pushing their take on trans acceptance on the community.

Then another point to address. Why do The Names want you to take your issues to PM? Oh, you say that they do this so they can just ignore it and put a mark on you? Dear user, you are really mistaken! They just want to avoid the derailment of threads, is all. Because, hear me out, most of those PM's are productive and amicable. That's why they continue to advise this, because it works! Right? Oh wait, that's why there is a feedback thread... because it works so well.. ;) But just to be clear, no emoji's. They don't contribute to a discussion, as opposed to consistent baitings and dogpilings and attempts to construct a false narrative. You see, you need to set the priorities straight, else a forum goes to shambles. So, NO EMOJI's.

Then again, you don't want users to feel uncomfortable, despite rocking an avatar that may be uncomfortable to some.

What is way more important is that bans can be overruled! That's right, although silently, they took a page out of the Ban Justice thread and if you think a ban was unfair or unjustified, you can contact them. Don't assume bad intent that the majority of the community was not aware of this, mind you! This is however not a problem for an user who came down here earlier to criticize my persona. The user never stuck around to address the situation, but i reckon constructing false narratives and (on a positive note) being active in the mental health thread are no sinecures. But, its good to know that said user has no issues talking to The Names directly. (Gee, maybe its because she is a Little Helper... nah, can't be) And some users are easily satisified in order to praise The Names. Just write a ban reason in a respectful manner and you still get an A mark for your moderation.

Oh, and here is how they judge bans: ''we look at the amount of warnings/bans the user has received so far, the length of those bans, the reasons for those bans (if there's a pattern), and the length of time between each ban to determine the severity of the next penalty.'' (But lets not talk about getting banned without explanation cross-Discords!). Every report will influence future decisions, so if you still thought that The Names are operating out of good intentions and moderate based on quality not on feelings, think again!

For the longest time we all have thought that bannings and actions are done by The Names. But according to one of the key people from that little group, this is FALSE! ''No moderation decision is made in isolation. Moderation always involves a conversation between multiple moderators, and debate is encouraged. The team acts collectively. There is no individual moderator who banned you; the team banned you.''. That's right, the community is told that really guys (Oops i should say people, don't want to trigger a Little Helper here!), our actions are a team effort! Go Go Gadget engage hypocrisy, if you ask me.
I am sure that Themagicalkitsune here sees this as proper evidence that one needs direct PM's in order to believe the conspiracy theory we all are running with. That is, if you want to assume that The Names aren't lying, and believe them on their pretty eyes..

Oh and remember the ex-member of The Names that got a name change just so that user could continue on posting despite being on a continuous ban? Not a case of protection, as they only do this when you either register with your real name, or when you need to change your name due to safety/privacy concerns, or you misspelled your username. But they ''usually don't grant username change requests unless there's a good reason behind the request. We also won't grant requests if a member asks for their username to be changed every month.'' I guess this ex-mods name change was an exception after all..

I also would want to inform you that The Names also do lootboxes in the form of ban lengths to sell to you. And you can acquire these just by posting on ResetERA! If Crunklord420 reads this: You should have your banbot track what the most used ban lengths are, if you aren't doing that already.

But enough of this. You know a thread is serious when your lead admin steps in. I just want to post this quote for posperity, so that when or if ERA implodes, these are the words we can live by. Just so you know where ERA stands on this (ignoring the obvious signs, ofcourse)
''Apologies if I've missed anyone who has commented on this.

We are well aware that we will never please everyone when it comes to bans: In the end we can only do what we feel is right for the whole community. We have a clear set of rules, as established in the TOS and FAQ, and do our best to adhere to precedent and enforce them consistently. The team takes context into consideration as well as prior history. Every case is checked and debated and then acted upon (or not) by multiple staff members.

Infractions related to bigotry are tracked separately from others and, assuming the first offense is not severe enough for a perm, repeat offenders are shown the door much quicker.

The results are not perfect and cannot be, but our moderation is a painstaking effort into which we devote actual hundreds of man hours each day. We never lose sight of the fact that these accounts aren't just usernames and avatars; they often mean a great deal to people and throwing someone out shouldn't be taken lightly.

We understand that not everyone will be happy with how this works in practice. However at the end of the day, on this subject, we do believe in what we do and how we do it.''
Please remember this. Please remember their good intents. The Names don't post in bad faith. Now that we have that out of the way:

Because if you aren't a straight cis white dude, what are ERA's plans? The Names don't know, but they are open to your suggestions. That's right, that's how you proper converse. Just be sure to cite proper examples (clearly The Names don't know of a ban bot or a search function), else its hard to know for one of the key people of The Names to know what problems need to be addressed.

FIN.
PART 2 will come soon (Yes, there is a Part 2.) This will break down the already infamous (And noted here in this very thread) the INSTIGATE post and all the other policies of The Names explained. You don't want to miss this! ;)

Have you taken your Truth Cerium™ today?

Some side effects may include symptoms similar to that of a partial lobotomy.

Speaking of which, We Happy Few is going to ruffle some feathers when it comes out.

It has some serious modern day political under tones in it's message that can easily be interpreted as far right.

I don't know anything about that game outside of hearing its name and seeing an ad I think on PlayStation store.

I'll have to read into it, that way I know the context of the arguments.

I loved a reply explaining how its a good thing that they can dox bad people with the work/school emails used to register.

Let's not forget one of our beloved Ex-Gaf mod used his info to doxx a member of another site.

I wouldnt trust Resetera with having any personal info about myself.
