I am in the US and I asked for them to stop making me stay permanently logged in and delete all my personal information from my account. They changed my name to a random number and deleted all my information...

I asked why they don't allow banned users to logout and their response was "A ban is not intended to be convenient. ". They're well aware that users need to delete cookies/session data in order to logout because the normal logout button will no longer work, but they choose to do nothing about it.

Well, this is my first post on here since youknowwhen, but things have just gone downhill fast this past week on Era to the point that I don't have any interest in even browsing the site now.
I'm fairly sure one of the founding rules of Era was an end to 'detectivegaf', with an emphasis on judging individual posts and not a member's post history. How quickly things have changed.
This is the straw that has broken the camel's back for me. I can't even comprehend how far from reality you have to be to read a news story about heinous crimes and your immediate thought is 'hmm, this news story is going to get spun by the right, bad times ahead!'. Not thoughts about the victim's ordeal, the nature of the crimes or how the crimes can be prevented. Straight to political brownie points to make yourself look good to others.
Discussion in off-topic is minimal. It is either political and 'progressive' backslapping, or posting memes and references to threads. Humans will be done for within 100 years? Thanos snap. 2 unlikeable entities warring with each other? letthemfight.gif. Someone has a physical affliction? Youarealreadydead.png. All the while people are replying with iunderstoodthatreference.jpeg. Trump threads? Womp womp. I have no idea what womp womp is but people keep posting it in Trump threads. I see the same similarities as GAF at it's peak worst, just members in a bubble not believing that they are in a bubble and anyone even remotely challenging them getting shut down. The difference? I can't remember many times that I saw people on GAF openly saying to others that if they don't have the same mindset and belief as themselves then they are a bad person who is lucky to reach this stage of life. Functional human beings don't come out with stuff like that.

I'm no Trump supporter, but that memo is some scary shit.
I think it's just another example of how they can't accept a suggestion when it doesn't fit their narrative. They'd rather supress anything that may harm the illusion of the multicultural utopia, even when it concerns something as awful as sexual assault.

She barely modded at all. She was on formal warning at the time shit went down for unprofessional conduct. None of that hit her, though, because I took the fall and tried to keep everyone else clear of the angry mob, so I never named her and kept her out of the shitstorm. Forum moderation is hard. She seemed to try her best. etc.

You are a moderator to oversee discussion and root out the people who do things that either thwart discussion or make discussion hostile.

While I don't think you should've let the website go on for so long in the state it was in, you're doing a great job rebuilding the site and old mods slandering the site doesn't really mean anything to most because those mods don't really have the best reputation (even if Aeana wasn't one of the worst ones).
Now NeoGAF is really the best video game forum on the internet. It has the best layout, design, and finally mods who are neutral and hard-working. In time I think people will realize this as long as the good work keeps up.

I love how their example of someone posting awful stuff is me linking to a twitter post. The context of the tweet itself was not the problem, the post itself was not the problem, the fact that it's someone they disagree with is.
That's my perspective on things, but it's not like she ever stated the above as her agenda when she came on. While I don't agree with her stated reasons there, they seemed to be coming from a place of good intentions...for whatever that's actually worth these days, considering the followup. So I tried to deescalate, be polite, and end our interactions on a positive note. I cared about everyone on my team.

Thanks. The team and I are trying hard and putting in the work. All the hate and defamation spread in perpetuity now around takes its toll, though. I'm a human being.................. I'll just go back to staying off the Twitter cesspit.
We have our proper integration test server up for the major design update, btw, so that in its final stretch! And we're working on getting the mobile ad footprint under control, hopefully tomorrow with the ad tags from our new ad ops folks. And the politics split from off-topic is in the works. And even more moderation transparency (for some fuckin' reason; we're cray).

I'm sure you've spent time over on ERA, just like a lot of us have. Don't take any of that shit personally. I've been a relatively straight shooter on both sites. I do my best to avoid hot issues. ERA does not tolerate ANY sort of non-liberal talk. Like, zero. GAF at least has a community that allows discussion of liberal AND conservative sides. Sure, there's going to be disagreements and frustrations. But fuck me if this isn't a MUCH more inclusive forum for discussion of those types of issues.I don't feel comfortable on ERA saying that the Cyberpunk shit was not a real problem. I feel like I could say that here and NOT be crucified. That's a pretty big deal. Sure, people here would disagree with me, but I don't think it would result in a ban like it would (and I guess did) on ERA.

Awesome! I really appreciate the transparency, goes a long way for people like me who were here before the mass exodus. It's a constant demonstration of how the website is changing for the better. Also it's totally essential to take a break from Twitter for a few weeks here and there. Ultimately I've decided it's an unhealthy platform where the majority of the time trying to be intellectually honest just results in you being pinballed between different aggressive echo chambers.
Also is it me or is ERA looking rather unhealthy lately? Before the threads that were updated "a moment ago" almost ran down the whole front page, now it's less than half. I think a lot of unbanned users just don't bother posting anymore. Many groups have also created "ERA Discords" where they just post instead because they feel more welcome. I just hope that as many of the good posters from ERA as possible consider returning to GAF, many of them do great work and should put their efforts towards a better community than ERA.

I have an account and had one since day one (I was staying off GAF for a while at the time due to doxxing that was going on). But I haven't been to that site since the opening. Once my brain kicked in, I remembered I didn't like that community of vile people and went back to GAF. It was a ghost town and kind of sad to see it go. But it's kicking back in gear. I'd like to see some more gaming communities grow, of course, but it'll get there. The sites at least got some new familiars on here. Even the people I don't agree with don't seem to be horrible people. We just don't agree and move on.
