Kinda weird thing for him to comment on, probably too much space and cheese over the years. To trigger him into a tirade you just need to call loot boxes gambling. Can't remember him talking much about issues in gaming before, despite having many years to do so, maybe Trump being elected really broke him. Too bad he never got to play as a black female in The Witcher 3.

I know what Mat has. He is an NPD guy, sales data, not inner workings HR data. Without revealing too much about me, I have been in several studios for over a decade now.

The burden of proof is on the accuser... so unless he has something to share with all of us, it comes off as is virtue signaling to all the people he mingles with on RE.

As for the current problems, something a sales guy you would think would focus on, would be that certain developers need not tell their customers to "fuck off/don't buy it", even to ones who were not rude or abrasive, then have to issue apologies after their bosses pulled the leash. That is bad PR, and that is bad for business.

So let's hear it Mat. Where are these incidents that you may have knowledge on (I doubt it), do share! Because when we hear about it, they are not the norm, very few and far between, or false accusations like the Price head case.

I'm on fit, pol and sp quite a bit. 4chan is just so amazing for OC and having a laugh. Must admit some of the bait on there is quite good and has gotten me a few times. It is one of the last bastions of free speech as well. I've had a suprising number of intelligent conversations with other anons and the userbase is more diverse than most forums.
 
An insider? I mean I've worked in the industry for over a decade, but I'm only privy to the goings on at my own studio. I think the only insider info I ever leaked here was when the vita game I was working on got canned I vented about it here before it was public knowledge.

Yeah Bobby's heel turn is suprising. It seems like a lot of people are turning on Era as of late, or at least I see more negative comments about it than positive ones. The place might be too new to endure the ongoing buffoonery since it hasn't been around long enough for people to become truly attached to it. It's really only the crazies that stick around, thus the never ending circus.

He's quit and returned to a bunch of sites several times, at one point he was so hard up for places to shitpost that he ran back to Aint it Cool News' comment section. On the surface it would seem like not a big deal and a sensible way of experimenting, to better the user experience and allowing threads to become more visible and to deal with the community/hangout problem of insulation or little participation of the broader audience. But of course, you have a vocal minority on RE that will see things in the manner of being in an ideological war, taking part in an ideological Crusade.

There's so much gold in this thread and I'm surprised Redneckerz Redneckerz hasn't written about it.

And it will only get worse because those people will feel they have a safe space in entertainment that shouldnt be infringed upon with political topics.

Last thing I'm going to say about this, and I want to be clear I am not implying anything here (and I know that's going to instantly make anyone reading this think I am definitely implying something but I really am not), but it makes me just uncomfortable that this is happening right after AltGAF cut their OT up into politics and entertainment.

I know it's just a pure coincidence, but it's eerie to me, mainly because I know the reason it was being done there is the same reason its being done here (they are just being more open about it). Feels just like the admins have really just let the alt right win. May sound dramatic, and I'm sure it'll get dismissed (especially by these "prominent posters"), but one of their goals, especially in regards to online discussion, is to decouple 'politics' from discussion about forms of entertainment so that things like social and racial issues aren't as present or as consumable in popular topics and culture. But I don't know, it is what it is. Hopefully it will work out, all you can really say about it at this point.

Before - 2 boards with entertainment as the focus, 2 boards with the focus on anything else. It's like they're waging some Holy War and seeking to dominate your mindset anywhere.

After - 3 boards with entertainment as the focus, 1 board with the focus on anything else.

It basically says they want to make this a community that has a lesser emphasis on reality-focused discussion. Why else create 3 boards that are more primarily geared towards discussion about things that are, in the scheme, irrelevant? Why else leave Gaming Hangouts un-altered?

Really, I think all of the things that are happening culturally/socially/politically are less about Progressivism/Liberals/Democrats vs. Regressivism/Conservatives/Republicans and more about a conflict between those who live in a fact based, data based, reality vs. those who live in delusion of their own curation.

I mean hell, this decision makes me think directly of the thread in Etcetera right now about the Vox video on the efficacy of the 'Firehose of Falsehoods' propaganda technique and how this relates. That propaganda strategy is all about power and control, via brute force saturation.

God, there's just sooo much. Some of the members are really focused on one thing in regards to narratives. It's like they're on an ideological crusade and everything will be about taking part in Two Minutes Hate against Goldstein. It's so ridiculous that something as simple as site layout becomes part of the ideological war and that someone just wanting more diversity and visibility in topics, somehow becomes "problematic".
