More anti-white racism on Resetera

Still can't believe they used the a-ok hand sign.

Typical white people appropriating than creating their own.

And if you missed my post from the previous page, the Hip-hop museum thread is still breeding more crazies:

That's not something Imma argue, cause we'll be here all night, bit I disagree. I don't believe black people are even in a position to be racist. Discriminatory sure, but not racist.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/a-...maahc-smithsonian.70267/page-16#post-12983120

Anyone who lives in the real world realizes how wrong that is:

As an outsider looking in, this is one of the stranger aspects of the US; the concept of a black culture and a white culture. Now, I understand that it arose from slavery and the segregation that followed, but why is it a precious thing that needs to be maintained? The idea is rooted in the belief that races are different and you will never get rid of the difference in how people are treated if you keep emphasizing differences in how people are. Across the pond we certainly still have issues too, but a black Englishman is just an Englishman, to me that's a form of equality, not the final stage of oppression (removing someone's culture).

With regards to hip-hop specifically, it may have started in the US, but it's long since left the continent and you can hardly apply US race dynamics to the rest of the world. I grew up listening to non-american hip-hop that was made by people with all kinds of ethnicities.

There are two differences:
1. Science is nothing anyone claims to be specifically white
2. Science is actually great and hip hop is not.
There's no actual claim that hip hop is specifically black.

It's music. There's no skin color requirement for holding a microphone or writing lyrics that match the graphical style of rap music.
One could argue that certain genre's of music have been more popular in certain ethnic groups than others. But that doesn't mean they get to lay claim to it like it's a birth right.

Hence the comparison to science. How many scientists throughout history have been white? There's a high correlation of white people and scientific discoveries, but no one outright says "hey, only Whites should be in charge of it".

Why is one form of racism ok, but not the other?
That's 2018 for you. I had people giving me shit for going to see Black Panther on opening night because I'm white, like I wasn't allowed to be there, and I had people acting like that was ok. God forbid I actually be a fan of the character and Marvel films in general. I feel like we're more divided now than at any other point in my lifetime. It's fucking depressing and just plain disgusting.

American Horror Story, Season 7 (Cult), Episode 7 "Valerie Solanas Died For Your Sins: Scumbag", is literally ReeEra in a nutshell.

Watch that episode, and try to tell me otherwise, lol. Lena Dunham was way too comfortable in her role, bet. :pie_smirking:

I am so glad that i could go to the movie, enjoy it, and had literally nobody even asking wtf i was doing there. Indeed, i just love Marvel films in general and i liked the idea of a black superhero.

Ofcourse, leave it to ERA and the Internet to turn an appreciation for the movie as a white person into an issue about race. :pie_expressionless:

Just because America still has daily discussions about the color of someone's skin does not mean other countries, like mines, are still so obsessed by it.. Its an assumption that gets made way too casually, and if you state that the whole ''black vs white'' talk is literally a ''black vs white'' talk in the sense that zero nuance is presented there, you get called out for it, ironically enough with the exact lack of nuance that you just pointed out.

Its so engrained in US society, i feel. Hell, even US comedians usually point out to whites/blacks near-instantly.

It must be such a bizarro world for them that there are people out there who don't talk about black people or white people like that distinction really matters, but that we just talk about people in general, where blacks and whites are one and the same and equally respected. Shocking, that must be.

And yikes. A dress that specifically identifies you on the show as cattle meant only for rape and abuse. Just watching the show makes me never want to have sex again let alone inspire me to be drawn to a costume like that. Yeesh.

a real quote in the hand maid tales thread

Please tell me you're kidding.

Funny how some posts were just edited by mods in the Boweach Thread and other posters were banned, I wonder why those who just got their images removed didn't get even a warning.

It's almost as much of a mystery as how such a thread would stay open on such a progressive site for so long.

I'm surprised if it wasn't just one big honeypot.

Now it's white supremacy. :ROFLMAO:

Furthermore, this subject cannot be had in good faith if you're not operating on the fact that we live in a world that is the result of European colonialism and white supremacy. Her hiring may be without fault based on her credentials but it cannot and should not ever be divorced from that context.

If you see a white guy listening to Tupac or Biggie, be sure to turn him over to the secret police for being a Nazi.

The bit about white people appropriating rather than making their own is pretty damn hilarious. Probably a white dude too living in a majority white country. He should step outside and look at everything around him then go to other places in the world that haven't been influenced by white people in any way and see what those places look like. I doubt he'll still think white people don't make their own things.

The notion of cultural appropriation is such a stupid one. It only makes sense in the segregated world that the far-left wants to create. In a normal world if diverse people live in the same area it's only natural that certain cultural elements will rub off on other people.

How is that person a mod... Guess i have to throw away my rap catalog because it's not my culture and my guess is that guy probably frequents Starbucks which isn't his culture.
That forum is a total shitfest.

Good job ZhugeEX (Daniel Ahmad) and Shinobi602 (Nate T.), this is the kind of place you wingnuts curate and are a part of.

The whole thread is swarmed with mods trying to control the narrative.
It's far worse then the days when Bish would show up and people readied the lawnmower/chainsaw gifs.

That's a wild thread. I like this reply: https://www.resetera.com/threads/a-...mithsonian-museum.70267/page-25#post-13002158

That is a fair point, but you could also say she could have given her connections to another person and done everything to make sure they succeeded in the position as someone who obviously had a lot of love for the project, that she could still be a great resource on the project.

So this woman spent 10 years studying hip hop and is the reason there will be an exhibit. But she should just hand all that over to someone else because she isn't black.

That hip hop thread got wild lmao the entire OP was replaced and the OP is now trying to save themselves and that mod dipped the fuck out. https://www.resetera.com/posts/13013241/

No your OP was basically let's all be mad that this WHITE woman is trying to put us back 100+ years by doing her job that she loves and is qualified for. Not oh let's sip some tea and hold a discussion about different races being able to curate other cultures exhibits.

The post after the closing post is a bit strange to me. I get the rambling about how older black people don't like Hip Hop, but what I do not get is this:
But we're talking about a group of people that has only ever had their culture taken advantage of and appropriated in this country.
What does he mean by this? he only being taken advantage of I can think of is people producing and selling Hip Hop and while I certainly am not very appreciative of it (because, afterall, Hip Hop is trash, as his elders rightfully evaluated), I cannot see this as malicious because if the rappers did not want to make money with their hip hop productons, they could just choose not to sell them. I would guess they are pretty happy earning a sizable amount of money off their rap music.

People are literally arguing with themselves in that thread.

Evidence: Compare this post:
User said:
But most people didn't discredit her and said her credentials were awesome, the issue was black representation for black culture. And now, because the facts of the OP was wrong (even if people raised tertiary points that are right) those people are gonna say "well, situation solved" and come back out the next time people are being critical of a white person taking ownership of black culture on the same side, looking for any reason to shut the conversation down. I don't think most of the sudden rush of posts coming in hot about the OP are coming from a place of just being happy the information is correct and wishing to move forward with further conversation about black representation.

with this post, and keep in mind of the bolded above, as the user is responding to that, below:
Same user said:
You only cared about proving shit wrong from the jump, looking for any angle to do so, you never wanted to have a legit conversation about representation, no offense but I think that's where your interests end and now you really just want people to shut up and framing it like people are being "scolded"

Since when is ERA hosting proper bipolar content and isn't concerned about the state of mind of such a poster? Its not even a misquote, that user is actually replying to his own post in anger, showcasing some proper albeit unintentional self-reflection.

On the other end though, its ERA, so...

With someone known for constantly instigating stuff to the extremes in order to get users banned i don't believe in these kinds of mistakes. I am just going to take that at face value.

That being said that's probably the case but we will never known which post this user actually meant to highlight. Since i can't be certain, i just take the post as-is.

Wasnt there a recent instance where one user actually outed himself as having an alt by a similar mistake (Logged into the wrong account)? I have a faint recollection it was even from the same user, like a month or so ago.

This type of mentality is so foreign to me. It also reminds me of the Scarlett Johansson controversy where I believe she was partially financing and a producer on the movie. The movie would not happen without her. Individuals don't matter in this crazy world view, just the accident of your birth or what you identify as. Perceived "sins" of the group outweigh any individual's actions. It is disgusting and leads to very dark places over and over in human history because it dehumanizes people.

Godwin's Law and all, but I feel people with this worldview only hate Nazi's because they disagree with the target and the severity, but they are totally ok with persecution of a people based upon the group they belong too.

No idea, I don't follow threads over there. I just know that it happens elsewhere with similar hilarity. It is an easy way to control the debate, when you debate against yourself.

Tried to see what Resetera's reaction to Bowsette was ... aaaaand it's locked. I feel like this is why Resetera is ultimately irrelevant, when they can't be an area of discussion of the latest trends on the internet, but has to funnel everything through what they deem appropriate.
The locking of that thread makes no sense whatsoever. Clearly marked NSFW (even if I personally saw nothing that would be considered NSFW imo), no porn there and still they locked it. No-Fun-Allowed forum.

Haha, the Era Puritans strike again. Definitely nothing truly graphic in there whatsoever. If that's the standard there are probably dozens or hundreds of other threads that need to be closed immediately.

Naw, they were posting plenty of stuff that was NSFW. I think the problem was that the mods didn't like the idea of banning some of the posters so after editing bunches of posts they just shut down the entire thread instead..

Easier than explaining why certain posters can't get banned, you know?

Maybe they'd already moved the "bad" stuff then. Low cut cartoon tops isn't that bad though imo if that's what you're referring to.

There were a lot of edits. A LOT. Given the inconsistency of the bans and the fact that it's clearly objectifying characters for wank fodder it just seemed like an odd thread to host on that site.

Not that I'm overall opposed to wank fodder, just seemed an odd thread to have next to the one about why objectifying women is bad.

Ofcourse NSFW kind of stuff like Peachette is less problematic than sexualizing characters in actual videogames or ERA's take on objectifying women and sexism. (Or referring to women as females)

Constantly they wage those battles but it only is a battle to them when its something they can despise. Princess Peach or Bowser? Now you would need to be an exceptional kind of fiend to despise on that...

Double standards Double standards hypocrisy galore.

I get the idea but they're puritans from the other end of the spectrum. "Impuritans" may be more apt, considering their ideology revolves around hilariously ironic conformity through non-conformity.

Gory imagery are also NSFW, yet those threads flourish on and on.

They hate/censor the natural essence in which creates life, but have no issues with things that take it away. ;)

They are just like the religious zealots they claim to despise.

"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you."

The "why women blah blah sexualized blah blah" filled with 99% "women" has far worse shit than these NSFW threads. It was pointed out in the past, to the mods for the double standard... *crickets*

I'd like to think this is a site adults visit, mostly anyway. What I consider sfw others may think is highly nsfw. There are very few gaming forums that abandoned sfw. But so many fall under the same category when it came to "sex" stuff it is looked down upon but don't mind gore. I think its an American thing and both Era and Gaf are both "American" forums. So what I'm trying to say is

FUCKING PRUD

wait no what I'm trying to say is that I kinda understand but at the same time. Aren't we all adults?

I can get that from the authoritarian Resetera point of view, but a forum discussing things doesn't depend on whether or not there's a topic about the thing considered controversial. That's only if your forum isn't for discussion, but rather for setting an agenda.
If we had a gun control discussion, that doesn't mean that someone making a gun thread, discussing guns, right above it is bad. But if you only see things through a lense in which people have to conform, then it's really bad and "contrary to the message". That's without considering the hypocrisy, like whenever someone sexualizes a man or someone fat or someone who's "acceptable" to objectify.

Didn't really see anything in that thread that seemed like wank fodder at least and from what I read since the warning there were 4 posts across 6 pages. One of them self-moderating him-/herself, when the tweet link contained NSFW things. The rest seemed more dubious, one of them was at least not what I'd consider NSFW, perhaps just tacky. I have no idea about the 2 other ones, but it certainly doesn't explain it being locked. I imagine it's more that it goes against "what we deem right" and is just "wrongthink".

Valid point, it did seem to get a passover of moderations from the first time I looked. I was following the thread a bit behind it so that's certainly realistic. Apologies.

It's just, as you rightly call out, strange when looked at it from the lens of the board's stated goals. I know it happens frequently (and is the soul of this dang thread) but it just seemed in starker contrast than usual.

This thread about Gallup Polls showing Republican party favorability index higher than Democrats was an epic meltdown:

https://www.resetera.com/threads/ga...dex-highest-in-7-years-above-democrats.70676/

Republicans (and the majority of white people in America) are deeply morally compromised on all levels. It's not just about wanting some extra money in their paycheck. They are severely unethical people who will do and support anything if it means maintaining whatever shred of power and privilege they feel they have. This is a difficult realization to come to, because it means condemning hundreds of millions of people, including members of your own family, and it goes against a basic principle of human nature ("My fellow man is inherently good"), but it's the truth. They are rotten, morally bankrupt, horrifically compromised people and there's not a whole lot anyone can do about it other than to mobilize the good people to vote them out.
