I came across this video the other day (NSFW + trigger I guess because it has the N word):


The video is actually really cute. The kid is an awesome bike-rider (better than I ever was) and I understand the cameraguy saying "little N*" was doing so cheerfully and to encourage the kid. Nothing wrong there. I have no problem with the kid nor the guy taking the video.

But from a zoomed-out view, stuff like this is "problematic", to use a phrase loved by our IdPol friends. This kid is riding down the street while someone calls "little N*". How is he meant to perceive that? Should he be offended at the word? What if the person calling it was out of sight? Unaware of the caller's skincolor, how would the child decide if this was "friendly encouragement" or "extremely racist hate-speech"? Imagine growing up this way. Imagine having to make that coin flip in your head each time you hear the N-word.

We have learned a lot about brainwashing and conditioning in the past 100 years. When you manipulate words and add hidden rules to language, it makes a populace malleable. The communist regimes used this to great effect.

Even as a cultural curiosity, I wonder what kind of damage to the psyche we're causing when we call children "little N*" during their upbringing, cramming that word into music, using it as a term of endearment, while at the same time teaching them to violently react whenever the "wrong person" says it. What kind of paradigm does that give a young mind, when they have to act out an obvious contradiction because their parents "said so"? Isn't this the criticism leveled at religion? Isn't this called "brainwashing"?
 
If Trumps wins again in 2020, it's because he cheated!

Trump will lose the popular vote by a lot more in 2020 than he did in 2016. Only way they win is if they cheat.

He inherited a blazing economy that was started under Obama. Hopefully people aren't dumb enough to give Trump full credit for this.

It's weird, red states actually tax wealthier people more because they're basically covering the states lack of a state income tax with property taxes. Their insane in Texas.

However states with income taxes are brutal coupled with federal taxes on those who make less money. I've lived in states with income taxes and that shit is rough when you don't make much.

It's not the same in all red states though, Oklahoma has a state income tax and cheap property taxes. Yet their state income tax was quite high coupled with federal, making it pretty rough on lower income individuals. I lived there briefly when I was teenager in the late 90's and roughly 35-40% of paychecks went to taxes working as a teen in K-Mart while going to high school. So depressing to work part time and earn $200 only to get paid around $120-$130 after taxes.

edit: What's funny is whenever I talk to Canadians about how much they get taxed and they're like "Oh around 45-55%" and I'm like "AND YOUR OKAY WITH THAT???!???!" :P

I will contradict myself for posting this but whatever.

The thread about Valkyria Chronicles 4 sexual harassment is really absurd, there is at least 1 ban per page and none of them deserved it, especially the long duration. I also find it kills any discussion if the mods basically say on the OP "You are only allowed to think like this, anything else will be met with a ban, you have been warned",

What is more ridiculous is that they closed the thread because of high number of reports before opening the thread again, basically anyone who said anything slightly less than completely outraged got mass reported and then banned unfairly.

Had to vent here even though i said i disagreed with this thread... sorry it was just too ridiculous imo.

I've talked about this many times on GAF, so I'll try not to preach to the choir about this, but I consider it a huge shame that today's society is conditioned to treat all topics of race as taboo.
It always assumes the intent is driven by malice, when it could just as easily be about offering solutions to decade old problems.

I worry that the lack of nuance when it comes to race topics will prove disastrous as multiculturalism gets pushed more and more.
Even the people in the thread above admit "racism wont ever go away" but ask them about border/immigration control and they will most likely fight you to bring in as many people as possible and watch the demographics of these Western countries change.

From what I've read, that actually happens in porn. You have a sit down, talking about the scenes, consenting to various things and a contract and all. Don't remember the specifics, but that's generally what happens. A lot of "I consent" apparently.

Even the OP says weird things like "It is like only the body of the character is valuable, not her personality for the squad" which is nonsense, so either you say the game is sexist or you are banned for "downplaying sexism etc" and also because of the high number of reports. It is also completely forbidden by the mods to talk about japanese culture or dismiss this as something trivial.

This results in a thread that has now an artificial discussion where everyone just says the same thing over and over for 10+ pages. Those who think slightly different are either banned or dont post because of this.

Personally I think such scenes are a good lesson for impressionable boys since the guy who grabs the ass gets immediately socked in the face for it and everybody mocks him. It shows the consequences of acting shitty.
