I am unsure whether it has this effect. The democrats already have a classical left active. In fact, the left candidate last time, Bernie Sanders, was pretty much a classical left candidate, not an identity politics guy. From my perception, Trump has actually strengthend the identity politics' influence on the democratic party.Yoshi - you know what I mean. Any win or loss will be credited as either a dent or a boost to Trump. Tbh it's partly because only by being completely eviscerated can the US left become an actual left. The IdPol left needs to feel real painful defeat.

Oh Bernie is definitely my go-to guy, but you and I both know there's no fucking way the Dems will let him near the top job. As for Trump - I'd argue that the current state has been building for a while and while Trump has poured fuel on the fire, I'm not convinced we'd not have got to this point either way, and certainly anyone with differing views would have activated the hate mob.
My feeling tbh is that much like a really nasty zit you've got to let it get big enough and nasty enough and full enough of pus to pop it, and when it does it'll leave a nasty mess, but it'll be really fucking satisfying, then after that you learn your lesson and regularly apply Oxy10 to keep further zits at bay.

I see Trump as a big red (orange?) reset button. The system had stagnated and it was badly in need of an injection of chaos. I don't think Trump is a good president, though he has been surprisingly effective in some areas (e.g. North Korea), but his election brought a lot of cancer that was creeping beneath the surface into the light before it could fully metastasize. Most importantly, he has forced the Dems to double down on identity politics and alienate a large part of the voter base. It would have been an utter disaster if Clinton got into office on a campaign based in identity politics. People are missing the forest for the tweet-shaped trees.

Or do you see it more as the natural balancing act of power between the left and the right, and that it was just that the left was digging in too hard after its recent series of social victorys, especially in regards to the LGBT?

It's real, but the main tweets talking about it were deleted. I only know some of the details.....
Bobby had appeared on a Star Wars podcast called "Full of Sith" hosted by a guy called Bryan Young. Bobby got hit with a #metoo, which he denied, and Bryan made some tweets along the lines of "innocent until proven guilty". He then had a bunch of people jump on him for A) not believing the accuser and B) for both him and Bobby being people who pushed the #believewomen thing, but then backtracking on that when one of them got accused. Bryan then deleted his tweets that were defending due process, he issued an apology, and he said that Bobby would not be on the podcast again.

Hillary was running on an SJW platform, and when she lost, we no longer felt numb to all race baiting and identity politics the left was pulling.

That is my take as well, since the very definition of racism is : "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. " So if you blame "white people" for being evil, stupid and so on it is basically racism in itself in theory.
Like the mod saying some lyric was good because it was only about killing white babys, not black ones, so it was completely fine. This for me is more racist than anything.

People are trying to redefine racism being only possible for people in power. And they think white people are in power. Therefore only white people can be racists and non-white can't. And this goes for all the white people out there. It doesn't matter how much, for example, us Finnish people have been in position of power. And even less it matters what comes to individuals in the white groups. Our skin color defines if we can be racists or not.
And they are deadly serious about it all the while saying that racism is one of the worst, if not the worst, things in the world. So effectively they are calling people with certain skin color some of the worst things in the world by using the logic of one of the worst things in the world. I'm kinda just waiting for them to trip on the mess of the wires of logic they are setting up and dancing around.

Just want to point out that some of the obvious little helpers are right up in the discord channels that have a large amount of mods in them ....the little helpers have groups in there as well as you will see about 6 or 7 rapid chatters become active when a user is targeted and basically shake the tree so the mods become aware...and it's almost always the same group of people
You think the mods are scary on reee...join some of the discords and you will see what happens when they dont have a filter

I figured this as much because the speed in which folks are banned almost requires some regular Joe's working inbetween the seams..I wish i could. I was part of Sony/Nintendo/General and Mental Health discord and they all kicked me out, the former three 3-4 months after my ban (lol). And Mental Health was an oddity, because although they understood my POV and the willingness to help, they figured i was still too direct towards them (And also praised Ket, who literally cannot do anything wrong in their eyes.)

Some of the Advice that I have witnessed in some of the discords which are setup for groups of people to talk about personal issues is borderline grooming and very scary if you are unhinged enough to follow the advice.
Would not at all be surprised if one day in the future the discords in end up in the news in some criminal investigations.

They found my style of advice too confrontational. Like empathy sharing and all but some advisors really tread others with golden latex gloves, i don't see how that always helps aswell. Therefore it makes sense that you keep variety, but that is ofcourse an alien thing to do to these folks.
Some users who take it one notch up to be disgruntled often also come out as being really depressed. Its a weird duality to observe and it also makes it hard for me either dislike them or share empathy with them. Because i believe those shitty outings are because they aren't getting the help they needed.
Same with the Im a gamer thread. Only on a place like ResetERA where the focus is on gaming is calling yourself a gamer because you play games slang for racist scum. If you are at that level of debating that you geniunely have issues with someone calling him/herself a gamer for that exact reason then i geniunely think this is a problematic situation.
Its also funny if you use the How do these people function IRL argument as this is dismissed aswell. As if you can't have these opinions if you do function IRL. What they don't get is that such a question contains a double meaning: It is asking the user who is asked why this issue is so negative for them that not only do they have to make threads about it on a internet forum, but that it effectively hurts you, physically or mentally, in that said life.
Again, if your train of thought is at that way of thinking, then i geniunely think one should seek help instead of encouraging this behavior, or atleast accept that different and differing views do exist and that there is nothing wrong with an educated alternative view.
Its strange. Often the advice is really helpful for those who are in dire need, at the same time these same people hardly address it when one of their own kills her/himself. Then there are also users on ERA who literally only talk on how they want to die and forfeit any advice given, the moaners. I feel ERA there has an obligation, considering the crowd that they attract, to help these people out. It wouldn't be strange if one would eventually do something drastic and then ERA will be all like ''We could have done more''.

They are legitimately hurting people who were my friends and it bothers me intensely.
I suppose it's lucky that I got out when I did. My life has done a 180 over the last few months since severing my connections with these communities and I am happier and healthier than I have been in years. Knowing the suffering my old friends are dealing with is difficult but I can not sacrifice myself for people who aren't aware that their comforting blanket is slowly strangling them...
