NeoGAF Ban Review/Justice Project

Just thought of other users who I liked and I think were banned for unfair reasons: Dennis, Gonzo The Great, WinoMccougarstein (don't know if I spelled it correctly), Phil0sophy (post count got mostly nuked?) The Mana Legend. Probably more i'm forgetting.

Also as a bonus, could you unban Lunchbox and Eggman? Yes, I know they were trolls most of the time who probably had it coming, but I laughed so hard at a lot of their posts. Their humor has been missing ever since.
Those were all great posters.

Anyone remember Kittonwy or whatever the name was? I am trying to remember what they were banned for.

I am so torn right now, part of me wants to keep this name and part of me wants to go back to the name I signed up with "Witcher 2077"

Hey. I have a question regarding the rules. I am not sure where to ask, so apologies if this is the wrong place.

I write short reviews for the games play. Not commercial, its a hobby where I try to recommend good games. I want to post them here for feedback. Once per review, NOT spam. Will this get me banned?

I believe the LTTP thread policy allows you to post reviews of some sort, but I'm not a mod on here.

O shit I thought LTTP meant "Link To The Past".

Like I thought it was wordplay on the zelda title while also referring to the fact that the thread was about a game from the past.

To be fair, Tabris is/was pretty annoying so I'm sure some of those 15 prior bans mentioned were legit and he caught some bans over on Era.

He's the dude with the Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) avatar that acts like he's a billionaire despite making a little over $200k and blowing it all trying to live lavishly while saying they plan to live off the Canadian equivalent of social security and mooching of their kids rather than investing anything into retirement funds.

As you can expect from such a person, they can be a pompous ass at times and definitely caught a few bans for being shitty to people with little money or anyone who calls out how foolish his lifestyle is in the longterm etc. Probably nothing ban worthy here since a lot of banter is allowed bs he old days or over there. And that's fine and what ignore user is for.

That's exactly the reason why I loved reading his posts.

Hope he finds his way back here.

As far as I know he's still active over on Era. Being the egotistical attention whore that he is, I imagine he'll stay there for the bigger audience unless he catches a ban. :messenger_beaming:

just reading the Jon Von Neumann thread there's a few bans in there but nothing on why in ban list. Bots?
Also, are we counting down 5secondrules return? :P

Greetings

I have a question for the moderators. This thread is not the best place for it, but I do not see where else to ask, no rights to ask in the FAQ section.

I write short reviews when I play an amazing game. I want to post the review text in a thread for feedback.
  • NO external links to other sites, text and screenshots are in the thread
  • NO seeking hits, NO ads, NO Patreon, NO begging for money, NO crowdfunding, NOTHING related to monetization, advertisement or marketing.
  • NO spam, NO multiple threads for the same game, NO bumping for hits
  • Old games, so I assume that the Communities tab is the proper place.
  • I am not a game developer. By profession I write business software. I am not affiliated with a game studio. I am ok to provide moderators with personal details so they can fully validate this.
  • Games I play are usually single player old shooters and adventures, NOT aggressively monetized games where my content serves as an ad.
  • Just an old guy playing and reviewing violent games for fun.
  • It is promotion in the sense that I write about games I like, but this applies to literally everyone that comments for a game that they like here
  • The description text for the forum includes "impressions, reviews" which is exactly what I write
Will a thread like that be against the rules and get me banned?

That's a LTTP topic and can be put in the gaming forum. Also screenshots are OK. Plus diplomatic immunity Corgi avatar. (y)

After taking a quick look at the Terms of Service, as long as you avoid self-promoting your own work and keep things civil, you should have nothing to worry about. This is a gaming forum, having members posting reviews is perfectly expected and welcome. A moderator would probably tell you the same thing.

About the best place to do it, I think it should be in the normal Gaming subforum. Communities are more of a social thing. Just make sure to mark your threads dedicated to old games with a 'LTTP:' (Meaning: late to the party) at the beginning of the thread's title, so users know beforehand what they're getting into.

I need an unban for Cauliflower of Love and filler EviLore EviLore
Please consider this song about another 2 men who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think interpreting Antoon's first sentence as a literal threat is dumb and petty.

I'm not gonna try to tell the mods who they can and can't ban, but if Antoon was banned for a legitimate reason, the ban message certainly doesn't reflect that.

Gotta agree with AV AV , keraj37 keraj37 and Whitesnake Whitesnake - the Antoon Antoon ban was very odd. It's well-documented that I'm not a fan of his trans posts, but this ban feels a bit off.

I don't actually think it was odd personally, but it's obviously caused enough of a stir that it should be publicly addressed.

His first post back after a decent ban and multiple warnings included a direct insult at the mod who banned him. To me, that's practically begging for a perm. However, the ban message itself implies that it's due to the "contemplating murder" bit. If that actually is the case then I'm not sold. An obvious joke isn't the same as directly calling a mod a double-barreled insult.

EviLore addressed it in the welcome back thread if you missed it.

Guy's a racist, between his white baby comment and various remarks about the Jews, including in this thread. He insulted other users here repeatedly (a shitty comment about Jabasse had to be deleted from the Post Pics of Yourself thread), and he obviously had no respect for this place, the users, or the administration.

Why was Katherin_e banned for spam? I checked their posts, and they were all harmless. Unless some were deleted?

Spammer is the reason on the ban page.

Probably had spam posts deleted and other posts were trying to mask being a spammer.
