So Sony gives THQ a platform.. is era now gonna boycot PlayStation? Are they taking the loss and won't play SIE games anymore because the bigger picture is more important then their pleasure?

Why don't they just give up on gaming and throw their cell phones away because THQ is on every platform?

Just a bunch of posers.

They have literally got to the point where after any discussion and has agreed groupthink on a topic anyone that says the opposite is a "Troll".

yes I have noticed that everyone not in line is banned.
How do they expect to keep numbers when they discard everyone that ever demonstrates an independent thought?

It reminds me of the joke about the blonde that got fired from the M&M factory.

She kept throwing out the W's.

They have already been conditioned to believe NeoGAF is a neo-Nazi website. They won't come back here.

Where they will go is none of my business and I couldn't care less.
There's plenty and there were plenty that stayed around to 'reeducate' people or whatever. Aka stir shit up and piss people off.

They are given enough rope to hang themselves soon enough. The only reason those guys post here (and they are the less articulate ones) is because they don't get enough attention over on Ree. It's got to be pretty damn boring for them to be in topics where everyone just damn agrees and someone else hit the report button to ban any freethinkers before them. They need that dopamine hit of proving someone "wrong" and they no longer get that on Ree.

That being said there are enough regular members that just want to post on a normal forum that are just sick of Ree that come here and just post about games or whatever without any damn politics.

I picture someone with short pink hair and a lip ring who has gender pronouns in their profile obsessively hitting F5 over and over waiting for a post to pop up so they can ban people.

It probably gives them a little high every time they ban someone.

That place has gotten like East Berlin once the wall went up. Before people could migrate without major repercussions but once it went up they had a total meltdown and were just like fuck it we'll just shoot anyone who tries to leave. RE mods don't even care anymore they'll just ban anyone now for any reason, that place is on the verge of melting down.

Rather then ban the few crazies that come into threads and derail them for insane reasons they just ban entire topics/people like Joe Rogan. Just more examples of shitty moderators that can't do their job right.

I modded a few boards a long time ago and it was pretty easy as long as you set the right expectations and built a good community. In the JRE thread the proper thing to do is to tell everyone to talk about the video linked, then warn/ban the people that feel the need to derail the thread. These mods do the opposite where they ban people that want to talk about a perfectly normal and harmless topic, then they shut down the thread.

Imagine being on a gaming forum that doesn't allow threads about a huge John Carmack interview :messenger_hushed:
They keep closing them with the same stupid message. Even the inmates make fun of it.

Imagine not just going to any other gaming forum. Rogan and PewDiePie have millions of fans, but banned on that shithole for being racist nazis. Era isn't even hiding what it is and have banned thousands. If someone is still posting there that's on them.

I honestly hope the morons that make up the mod and admin staff on REEEEEsetera keep on banning all of the reasonable posters. Let all of those projecting fools quarrel amongst themselves, No point posting there at all.

The long post in there going after Rogan is just factually incorrect on so many levels. And I swear if I see "give a platform to..." one more damn time, it's an infuriating line.

And the dude says "makes the world a more dangerous place to live in if you aren't a straight white male" in reference to Jordan Peterson and Tim Pool. That place is so delusional it's borderline psychosis at this point.

I disagree, actually. He's describing why he finds it hilarious, which is really insensitive but isn't that comedy in a nutshell? (banned for this comment)

Oh yeah? Your existence is NOT a punch line? Then why are we all laughing AT you?

It's ok to talk about a Joe Rogan interview as long as it is filtered through Vice first:

Era oppression pyramid points and immunity are high with this one.

There's so much more, but that's enough, I should check the ex boyfriend.

Lmao she already is, I just had to read the rest of the thread. Fuck they're so pathetic. They're like the stereotypical need everyone makes fun. The ones that clearly don't know how to do anything but act like a white knight whenever they finally have any semblance of interaction with a girl.

Speaking of politics, I remember putting in my vote in Discord that politics would be split into its own board when R.E. was first starting up. They, passionate about the embedding of political discussion (apparently, now, standardization) into all things, chose to simply mirror the 4-board model of GAF and now you can't escape it. I can only imagine how next year will be when people are posting threads in Gaming like "How much more miserable will you[r gaming experiences] be after another four years of Trump in the White House?" Or "Now that [Democrat] is President, how will games be wonderfully affected and cured of all hateful messages, like characters with different worldviews??"

And of course the general angst of everyone dreading skyfall when someone they don't want gets a position that doesn't have enough power to ruin their world even if they used all ten permitted years in the position to try. Take a deep breath, everyone.

My advice to everyone, including R.E. staff: EVERYONE is "problematic," even you. Everyone has biases. Everyone has skeletons in their closet. Chastise others all you want, but no one is faultless in this world. If you dig deep down, you'll know that which you think and do that you're not proud of.

And honestly, I think we need to stop elevating others on an emotional level. Actors, voice actors, creators, artists, musicians, writers...we are all just people. Flawed. Struggling. Neither idols to be worshipped, nor villains to be deplatformed. Businesses are no different. Whatever you define as "EA" is no more or less righteous than "Nintendo" or "Sony." Its all about profits, and making interactive things people enjoy. We simply buy the ones we like and don't buy the kinds we don't. Discussion doesn't need to be so venomous, or corrective.

Obviously we are all biased by our favorite games of both now and then. And I speak with confidence that "problematic" people were instrumental in all of them. Just because you dont know about people's skeletons and opinions, doesn't mean they do not have them. You can't avoid everything you dont like, or people who feel/say/think things you don't like. Even a naked monk with only a handmade broom and a bowl must rely on others to subsist.

Be thoughtful. Be mindful. We all need to stop being so exclusionary. We are one human race, so let's all try to show it. With some positivity and some optimism.

Cool. Why didn't you post that there? You get banned?

Haven't seen your username for a hell of a long time.

Shoutout to Oheao, shame you can't report back that everyone outside of Ree hates ree.

This dude is what you imagne the most stereotypical ree user to be. Classic posts of the time he went to China, was given a lot of relative advice do's don't s. Ignored it and within 48 hours of arriving he wanted to go home because he didn't prepare. example:

I don't usually post in charged topics because what few politics I do have are more right-leaning and, let's be honest, politics get people fired up much more quickly than a lot of other things. It's like debating religion. So I would likely be banned pretty quickly if I let myself get entangled in stuff.

I mostly just use R.E. as I did GAF pre-fallout: as a gaming news feed. Besides, it's increasingly harder to find threads that wouldn't be considered "sensitive" in which to post and discuss the usual video gamey silliness. A lot of it is getting angry about lack of representation or getting worked up over various industry people.

It might just be my perception, but it just kinda feels like the site staff has drawn lines in the sand with "if you're not with us on every sociopolitical matter, you're against us," so I just almost never post in, admittedly, fear of being axed. If I am, though, it won't be a serious loss. As a long-married-with-a-family adult, I have plenty of other things on my plate, and chatting about games on the Internet is an old teenage pastime more than anything I truly need in life anyhow.

Besides, are you telling me I wouldn't get banned for posting that, I feel, very neutral rant? The dang banner above my post would say "blanket generalizations/misrepresentation of site moderation" or something similarly unbreachable.

In trying to make mods more accountable to the masses than they were in pre-exodus-GAF, they've removed the actual accountability, because no one can make a stink about an unfair ban of other users without getting smacked down themselves. I suppose it would take a similar uprising from the userbase doing riotous account-suicidal threadmaking before staff would really have any introspection on the matter (if even then; they'd probably blame it on GG or something unrelated). Not that I'd advise making such a huge ruckus over something as trivial as a video game discussion board; it just ain't that serious.

Gaf gets an ever increasing steady stream of posters coming back that have this outlook just as I do. smart move here was to move all politics to a sub forum as a containment chamber so it does not afect the rest of the forum. A lot of people come over from resetera and judge the whole of Gaf on just that sub forum, I never go there and the forum experience is much much better.
