Closer look at a PS5 Devkit.......V means 5

I really don't mind a similar design for retail tbh...….Those air vents....

The final model will look awesome, I'm sure of it. The vents need to be doubled down to avoid another "PS4 Pro" situation, but I love the overall "V-shaped" style of the dev kit and like you said, it represents the number 5.

Very interesting, I like the unusual design!
I hope the retail system looks as close as possible to it. I'm imagining the limited edition consoles in amazing color combos already.
I'd also be really interested in knowing how much these are worth.

Also, how long do you guys think it will be before we get leaks of the next xbox dev kit?

The design is a bit out there but I find it hard to see the retail version looking anything like this, but more power to them if they do it.

This is muscle car styling, I just need more chrome. Has to have a nice gloss black finish on the non-metallic parts.

Flair out those side vents a bit more and when it starts up let some flames fire out as it revs up!

There's a part of me that secretly hopes the consumer version of the PS5 will have some sort of V shape to it.

Regardless it'll look very presentable, no doubt.

Zoneoftech got a PS5 exclusive scoop? It's possible, but Techtube also has things like Tallosivetech completely fabricating a stackable mac pro story.

Is this really the PlayStation 5... Lol......

lolz aside, I think many of us got that, but good eye nonetheless.

semi OT, but what series from Playstation is only on 4 releases that could release a 5th using the V for lolz marketing? Think of how Capcom sneaked in VII in RE VII

or how Rockstar likely will sneak dat VI in GTA VIce City 2.

I so weak to that, any time a company does that I'm like

It looks very fat? Like, thick? The form factor seems really weird. Either it's enormous, or super small (which it absolutely won't be). Kinda looks like the ugliest kind of 90's modem, unbelievably awful.

It won't look like this though, but I can imagine that the heatsink inside is pretty much shaped this way. No way it will have these proportions though.

I don't understand why you people who enjoy this design are excited about this? When has the prototype ever looked anything like the finished product?

Hmm should be easy to figure out the dimensions since we know that the blu-ray slot is 12 cm wide.

The only one who seems to have devkits which resemble the final product are Microsoft. So if something comes leaking out from them expect something relatively similar.

OK, so the prototype should be around 35x35x12 cm. That's more than 2x the height of the PS4 pro, and pretty much 2x the height of the Xbox One X.

It doesn't look like a tacky, overly glossy toy like those artist-made concepts being passed around, so that's good. A memorable design is nice, but I still maintain that I'd much prefer the final product to look something like this, not that I expect it to look exactly like this devkit anyway.

C'mon, we should all know it won't look like that as we've seen from Sony's past devkits and retail consoles.

I hope they keep the v design for the retail release and I hope its easy on the old noise pollution unlike its predecessor.

I'm seriously considering leaving cyberpunk till the next gen as that will no doubt have a ps5 patch. 4k 60fps will be worth the wait and those ssd load times, which in theory should eliminate any pop in.

I will buy a ps5v if it looks like the devkit. Majority may see it as the ugly duckling, but its a beautiful gold laying swan to me.

...but it better not stop laying golden eggs.

Under no circumstances do I want final hardware resembling that grotesque, cheap looking piece of deformed shit sat under my tv.

This could potentially be the best looking console since the launch of the Japanese Megadrive in 1988. Do it Sony, do it. Give us the big V!

I like how some people expect this to be some kind of look for release version. There is 0% chance it will look like that on release. For one it is huge. No way console will have that size. 2 Vents makes sense only for this size if you make it smaller those vents will be wrong and won't move any decent amount of heat. Secondly Vents on top side instead of back isn't great consumer electronic choice.

Here is some history for you guys:
