Closer look at a PS5 Devkit.......V means 5

I think it looks really stupid to be honest, but I also don't really care what a console looks like. All that matters is if it's going to be a problem fitting it into a slot on my entertainment center.

I don't care what anyone says I would buy the PS5 looking like that.
I'd bring a girl over and the instant she laid eyes on that baby she'd be like...

"Hol'up, my panties are stuck around my waist."

XD

Who needs a gf/wife when you can just use your V to play with?

Seriously tho I hope that design is for retail, looks rad. I don't want boring VCR boxes.

Your last image is fron ps4 pro devkit

The first ps4 devkit is this.

It looks so sexy

I would definitely mind if PS5 looked anywhere near the devkit. Vents blowing inward and into eachother? No, please no.

I got enough bulk out of Xbox's console behemoths. Sony needs to keep the balance. Sleek and sharp.

The final model will look awesome, I'm sure of it. The vents need to be doubled down to avoid another "PS4 Pro" situation, but I love the overall "V-shaped" style of the dev kit and like you said, it represents the number 5.
The vents don't cause the fans acting up. The lack of proper thermal paste does. Something Sony cheaps out on despite being cheap AF since the ps3 days.

I think it looks cool at least for a pre-production model. I expect changes will occur in the design between now and launch (which is after all more than a year away)

Sony is just saying "hey! we're still here! next-gen PlayStation is important to us!"

Looks like a desk space heater if that ever was a thing and might serve as one, too!

Uhmmm.. I don't like that design. But who cares? That's not so important. It's all about what it brings to the table in terms of games.

Now the controller's design, that's something that matters. The box itself could look like a dump and I wouldn't care.

Of course, of course...... Specs and games trumps all..... And though I would not mind the look of such a console, they could make PS5 look like a dolthrakian VCR, as long as they go bananas on the specs.....

Ugh. Seriously?

No USB.
No Ethernet.
No Wifi.
No visible fans or vents, so probably overheats after just one hour and requires a water cooling solution.
Looks like it requires a lot of space.
Can only be set vertically.
Apparently features dual tracking capabilities (cameras in the top part).
Noisy when operating.
Expensive.

On the plus side, it does like that it's the "slim" version ...

i know it's a devkit but for goodness sake i hope the consumer version is NOTHING like this. it's straight up ugly and whoever thought it was a good idea even for a devkit needs fired.

just put it in a simple black box like the PS2 or PS4.

I love this design and really hope it makes its way in some form to retail.

If they can give it a jazzy colour scheme too, or even just black with rich/bright/neon blue highlighting, it'll be mint.

Really though, anything other than a dull black, grey or white box would be awesome. I swear most modern texhnology is designed around the dullest, most soulless people's tastes.

Im pretty sure those are intakes. It makes sense especially for the dev kit because those are usually stacked.

Idk, I work with PlayStation devkits as well.

only thing I can say is that dev and release are completely different machines.

btw previous devkits get realllllllly hot.

It doesn't look like a tacky, overly glossy toy like those artist-made concepts being passed around, so that's good. A memorable design is nice, but I still maintain that I'd much prefer the final product to look something like this, not that I expect it to look exactly like this devkit anyway.
Imgur doesn't allow porn Links anymore....and that is straight up porn.
