Cord Cutters unite!

I still do this for the original Ghostbusters. There is a great commentary with the creators with an MST3K overlay on the movie. I need to check and see if it is also on the BluRay release.
There are certain movies that I think I have them on every format. Ghostbusters and Blade Runner.....

i'm kinda funny in that i've actually been watching Over the Air TV. like with bunny ear antennae and all of it. LOL

i have Amazon Prime too for streaming on my PS4 Pro but i regularly watch oldschool TV like a 20th century loser =)
Yep I have an over the air antenna and NO streaming services. I get DVDs through the mail from netflix.

I'm an Amazon Prime subscriber (for shipping reasons primarily) but I enjoy their shows quite a bit and it's a good way to pad out my digital library with stuff like Star Trek, Psych, Burn Notice, Stargate, Orphan Black, etc. Otherwise, I prefer to just buy my TV shows outright digitally and watch them. This has traditionally been a mix of Google Play, Amazon, or VUDU - depending on who has what the cheapest. If you're patient and can wait for a decent sale you can typically find entire seasons of TV shows for less than $5-$10.

For example, last year I picked up Season 1-14 of Supernatural for about $100 on VUDU. Been slowly working through the show off and on since and it was a great value.

Prime, Hulu with hbo and Cinemax, Netflix, Disney +, and of course MLB.TV

Cut the cord when Roku was a Netflix box. Not going back.

I was fortunate to go to the Wildcard Card game, game 5 of the world series and game 7 watch party at Nats stadium. World Series Champs!!!

I haven't had cable in a decade, started using streaming services a couple years ago and would never go back to cable unless the price dropped through the floor.

I subscribe to Youtube TV during the football season. As soon as the superbowl ends, I cancel it. It saves me a lot of money. Not as much as you full on cord cutters, but I love football season. I like that I can just cancel it from my browser instead of having to talk to someone like DirecTV forced me to do.

I finally did it last month

We pay for half a Netfilx Sub, half a DAZN sub and I use my parents Bell TV account occasionally for sports I can't get on DAZN.

This is exactly what I do. Great value and replayability.

Ended up re-subbing to Amazon Prime Video, since apparently I can get Prime free for 6 months under my college e-mail. Hope I use it a lot.

I cut the cord completely as soon as Fiber was made available in my area.

This time of year is when I actually see 'regular' television due to visiting Family and Friends.

The commercials! I can't take it.

Going into 2020 what are your plans for entertainment?

Enjoying Cable still? Or going to go full streaming?

My subs:

Prime
Hulu
Netflix 4K
Disney+
YouTube Premium

I have more entertainment than I know what t do with... and it's fantastic.
I technically have cable, but only because Comcast's bundle with cable is cheaper than internet alone.

Netflix
Amazon Prime
Disney+
YouTube TV

Is what I roll with.

So of course there are so many packages out there that it's impossible to say anything for certain but prior to cutting the cord, I thought this too...until you add in the cost of the equipment and all that nonsense. From memory, it was something like another $35/mo for just 2 boxes in my old townhouse. Quickly eats up any "bundle" savings though they do a pretty good job of masking it. Of course YMMV. I was also partially to blame as I just set the bill to autopay and never bothered looking twice.

Anyway, Netflix/Hulu/ESPN+/Prime (which I've had for other reasons-- the streaming is a bonus) does the trick for me. Also have had the MLB package for the last few years through T-mobile. While the Falcons have been a dumpster fire, I'll typically go to a bar for RedZone.

I don't have any boxes besides a single receiver which is $2/mo. I don't even have the Comcast hooked up at all.

That is, if your stations come in clearly. Our NBC and FOX stations seem to be the most notorious for having signal issues. (Our CBS station does due to it's city of license but solves it by having a satellite station within the city)
Where I live the clearest, best reception are with the Spanish language channels. But I don't speak Spanish. FOX, CBS, NBC are decent most days, but those other 2nd tier channels like PBS, or local channels (which I like) tend to be hit or miss. Even the Korean channels come thru clearer.

Ha- I did this. Had the bundle because it was cheaper. Never used the TV signal or box. Only the internet connection.

We only had 2 Options when I was first here. Cable or DSL

I get promos from Comcast Xfinity begging to come back for $50 a month (first year) for super high speeds of up to 50 mbps.

I pay $50 now and get up to a gig.

You are only limited by your options.

I don't even have WiFi in my apartment. I have a switch and a ps4 that I really don't play a lot and only single player. I have unlimited data so I just use my fancy iPhone for online stuff, and I have WiFi at work if I need to download something that's a big file. I have some Blu-rays and old dvds and shit lol.

It's like commercials streaming in 4K on a news site but the video you want to watch is choppy 240p

I put up an antenna and got a fair amount of channels with great picture quality. The amount of Spanish and Christian and QVC type channels.... so many.

Wake up, check neogaf and few other things.

Headphones in while eating breakfast and watching something.

Same with lunch.

YouTube and YouTube music throughout the day.

Maybe a movie or show in the evening.

Always gaming something.

Tonight I will be streaming the game awards.

Streaming some music as I type.

Thanks, internet.

Hulu
Netflix 4K

What more do you need ... besides maybe Spotify or another music-streaming service like Youtube.

I would say Netflix 4k is a waste. Very little content in 4k anyways on Netflix. I dropped mine down to the level below it.

I know right. They have a hell of an audience apparently.

Aside.

One girl I know lived out in the woods with no connections. She fought providers to place lines in her area and they wouldn't. She ended up having to pay out of her pocket for miles and miles of cable and connections just to get a line to her ranch. I keep teasing her to take out the line when/if she moves.

Big VUDU TV show sale going on right now for new years. This is the time of year I typically spend about $150-$200 to buy most of the TV I'll be watching the next year. Here are some example deals:

Stargate seasons are $4.99 each (SG-1, Atlantis, Universe)

Tons of other great TV on sale for pretty cheap:

Stuff that's $5 or less:

Finally, some great deals on "complete collections":

Typically I find enough variety here to be able to watch a lot of interesting and different shows throughout the year. Of course, I don't watch a TON of TV and I'm not picky about having the latest and greatest, so your individual results may vary.

I finally cut the cord next week. With Cable and Internet and constantly going over my 1tb data cap. I cut down to just internet, doubled my speed and got unlimited data.
I'm using
Philo
Netflix
Hulu
Disney+
ESPN+
Prime

I just bought Gremlins 4K on there.

Nice! After no commercials, you won't go back.

Well Hulu has commercials, it was in the disney package. But they aren't much. Philo is cool. It's like basic cable without the local channels and you can still DVR shit. I had to pick it up for the wifiey's shows.

Edit: I'm just super happy I don't have to monitor what resolution my kids are watching YouTube at anymore. Once a week I'd have to go to their PC's and push it down to 480p. NO HD FOR YOU! But now I don't need to worry. I don't need to worry about Fortnite patching on 3-4 PC's and a switch anymore.

Haha, just wait. I have 20 plus devices hooked up to WiFi.

I cut the cord years ago but sadly it looks like they've found a way to rope people back in to paying the same ridiculous sums of money again. At least if you're a footy fan

I don't watch any new shows or movies regularly so i don't pay for any of that except Amazon Prime. However, the sports rights are spread out on multiple services meaning i'm paying just about the same as before dropping satellite tv. Champions league and EPL on one service, my country's own league on another, la liga and serie a on a third service. I'm so fucking tired of this shit. There is no true competition when the leagues sells exclusive rights to each country

Ok, rant over

I don't think I've even counted mine....let's see. I think I have around 13? A beefy wifi router helps a lot. One day I'd like to run hard lines to the room, or try out some powerline adopters.

Oh cool, I didn't know about Philo.

They don't have widespread apps yet. But they run on PC and Roku and probably Apple TV. I do know if you sign up for a 6-month plan they send you a free Roku 4k stick. Not a bad deal.

Good rant though. I see the same problem with American Football as well. They really have you trapped. I don't know if it changed, but I was also surprised broadcast games are only 720p? Such a racket.
