Who plans to undergo Euthanasia when the inevitable days come?

Me for one. Both my parents have opted to undergo being put to sleep when living becomes a nasty chore. So have my siblings. It has been legalized in multiple states here, and will soon be legal across the board.

It is a much more dignified and controlled way to go. I've seen a few loved ones perish terribly on the hospice bed covered in their own excrement and tears. It is something to avoid. Plus the death rattles simply make it harder on everyone else. We afford our pets greater dignity and comfort in death, why not our loved ones?

We are very lucky to exist at a time when completely painless and clean chemically induced deaths are not only possible, but easily and consistently achieved. I for one welcome my deep sleep demise. Life for as long as it lasts is so good when you don't have to fear shitting yourself to death in front of loved ones. It also allows for many good organs to be saved, as controlled euthanasia can save the body's assets from total organ failure. I want mine harvested and used on needy children so they can have opportunity for a longer life.

What say you Sheeple?

You know, being blown up by 100kg of dynamite taped to your chest is even more painless. It will instantly kill, instead of the injection where you have 30 seconds of consciousness to think about things and possibly the pain of regreting it.

Can we put this on youtube as a means of recouperating the costs of the explosives?
It could have different scenarios, just blown up in an abandoned city square, in a bomb shelter, inside a small Toyota RAV4 ?

And you could have microtransactions where people could bet on what would happen?

I want to live as long as possible because what if when you die, the next day they announce immortality is discovered?

We literally have only one chance at life. Ending it early means you can't undo your mistake, for all eternity.

Another thought is what if killing yourself sends you straight to hell? I'm not religious but even if there is a afterlife, why make your chances at living forever worse?

What if you're fucked up with ass cancer when they announce the immortality pill? Would you take it?

Count me in.

But i'm more a "trip to bahamas or maldive until my body is not healthy enough to enjoy life then a gun to my head for quick death" then classic euthanasia.

Definitely. If humans get to live forever, there's still a chance science will continue to progress far enough to cure all diseases or replace our body parts with artificial ones.

In which case, 10 years of cancer is still a better option than a million years of complete darkness.

What if not killing yourself and prolonging suffering in the present life sends you straight to hell when you do eventually die?

Why take that chance?

I would have to question what kind of god awaits in the afterlife if he/she rewards suicide.

All organisms on earth have a natural desire to live. If we're suppose to just off ourselves, why bother to create life in the first place? Was it all just a joke?

At least if I met with a Christian god or a Buddhist god, I could explain I didn't know better on Earth and want a second chance.

Who are you to question God's plan? Why take that chance?

Also, suicide is documented in the natural world too - usually as a method of self defense or self sacrifice of the individual so the group as a whole has a better chance of surviving.

Waste of organs, and very messy.

Or worse...what kind of god rewards unnecessary suffering? A complete psychopath imo.

Organisms have a natural desire to reproduce. Self preservation is transitory to that end. Most are completely ignorant of their own mortality, and many humans come to terms with the fact of death. There is nothing natural about living forever. Believing in an afterlife is just an artificial expression of an unnatural fantasy. I have nothing against artificial means of life extension, but the end will inevitably come. Even stars die. Even religions and gods die with those groups that used to follow them. RIP Thor. You were cool. Now you just some shitty Disney super hero.

I miss the old Comrade Tickles

Mr Tickles is dead. I put him to sleep myself.

What if you masturbated so much you thought you got arm-cancer?
But in the end your (female)doctor asked you "do you excercise more with the right arm?"
As if she didn't already known the cause of the muscle damage.

Cunth Cunth please come back

Getting awfully defensive when no one has said anything to you yet.

Sheeple.

If you're getting euthanized, your organs are probably not in the best shape.

I want to feel the breath of life slipping away. Why miss a once-in-a-lifetime experience like that?

I don't want to get all edgelord here but would you not question a god who punishes those who just want to be relived of their pain? Those that are considering euthanasia are people whose lives have become quite literally unbearable.

If there's a god that rewards suicide, wont that mean the likes of Hitler or the 9/11 terrorists are more likely to be saved than a person like Gandhi or Mother Teresa?
A plan that involves all life ceasing to exist before it's even born comes across as an oxymoron, as then why wouldn't a god end his own existence?

Those examples of animal suicide honestly don't explain that those are instinct driven decisions. For example, the article mentions a parasite that causes some insects to kill themselves, so they're being controlled. Another example brings up Monkeys who bring attention to themselves when warning about danger, but that's not the monkey really wishing death on itself. It's like saying a Fireman who enters a burning building is committing suicide because the environment is dangerous, when in reality, a Fireman's job is to to eliminate danger and ensure everyone's survival.

Sure. But there is also the issue of mental health. Some people who could be treated for mental conditions believe their lives to be unbearable. They should not just kill themselves. That would be tragic.

I am very sympathetic to the arguments for Euthanasia for those who have end stage diseases and zero hope of recovery. But I am conflicted by the obvious slippery slope lying just beyond that door. When we frame all these arguments in terms of individual choice, we open a Pandora's Box. Does not the man who has been through a terrible divorce and lost his family have the individual "right" to kill himself? Why should the state be able to stop him, being an adult of sound mind? Should we be able to euthanize the retarded? They suffer, don't they? We kill most of them in the womb anyway, so what is the real difference?d It seems such an easy choice for the guy with stage iv cancer shitting himself to death....but how to contain this genie once it is released?

Absolutely, it's a complex subject. It can't just be the case that anyone that puts themselves forward should get it. There's also the issue that people may feel like it's what they "should" do perhaps because of pressure, whether that be real or imagined, from their family. There's not a simple answer.

If my life consists of old decrepit age, bed-ridden, organs no longer working, and my only joy is when they clean the shit smeared all up my back, I'm done. I don't need any SJW to tell me otherwise.

I'm down for this in a situation where I know my time is coming. I have watched family members go in ways that they wouldn't repeat if given the choice, too. I don't see it as devaluing life at all.

I think going in for a million surgeries, radiation treatments, and chemo while you are on a ton of anti-psychotics and other meds just turns you into a skeleton ghoul shell of the person you used to be. It's way less humane.

If I ever end up in a hospital with no chance of going home, it might be more suffering living there for 3 or 4 years then if I had died peacefully at home 3 years earlier.

I had a client with severe COPD, where when he came into the office it took almost 45 mins for him to catch his breath and be able to talk to me. He said every time he inhaled it felt like 100 needles in his lungs.

When Canada made it legal for rights to die he saw a few doctors and none of them would sign off on him, even though he expressed those wishes for almost a decade.

He finally did pass, on his own from natural causes without a Dr. But his last few years were completely miserable.

Now they are looking into rewriting Canadian assisted dying laws this spring and I hope he can be a case as to why the law is failing so far.

A sympathetic one?
Ha, we know that's not true.
It's not suicide if someone else does it.

For it to be suicide it has to be self inflicted, and mercy killing has been a thing forever. A moose that is hit by a car or a dog or cat that are suffering get put down all the time. Do they all go to hell?

What is the difference between you being in a coma and the family pulling the plug vs you being awake and asking them to pull it?

I have no issue with it, although personally I kind of like the suspense and the thrill of not knowing. Plus, I wonder if I'll get my 1000 year DMT trip with chemical induced exit. I don't want to miss out on that. :messenger_winking:

I do, but on my own terms. Don't care if someone labels it suicide or whatever I'll be dead.

It will involve drugs and music.

Is it weird that this thread just makes me think of all the free loot I will get when shit hits the fan. Bottle caps for days!

Hospice is pretty much the same shit for most people - they give you morphine until you die. Prob a good way to go

I work in a nursing home; trust me it's not. I've watched people pass over weeks, I've seen people completely incapable of doing anything but stay in a bed, their muscles contracted and completely unable to communicate and they have remained in that state for months.

Anyone who mentions any of that 'gods plan' shit can go fuck themselves.

There's a pretty sad video on this called How to die in Oregon that deals with people actively suffering and wanting their own end. I worked with an old wise man who convinced me about this, you don't ever want to put yourself in a situation where you can't make that choice for yourself, that's a far worse scenario.
