Whatever happened to Spontaneous Combustion?

You presume wrong, there was no massive recall for software updates. But the unintended acceleration stopped anyway. And also it seems the software bug impacted people 60 and over at a massively inflated rate.
This was a media driven panic - and everyone who hit the gas instead of the brake was suddenly a victim. It went away because everyone forgot about it.

That was years ago, any car sold since 2013 shouldn't have any issues.

But in the meantime millions of supposed death trap cars were on the road.

Fair enough, the media coverage did probably lead to tons of Toyota owners to just vent to the NHTSA.

But didn't you say there was no recall, why does your data now mention the recall?

The recall was for mats, which did cause the crash that started it all.
