Guys Greg Miller in January the day after he saw shu he out of nowhere said I wouldn't expect any reveal event till may which everyone at that time thought he was crazy.

I feel ps5 reveal event is may. They want to get closer to Nintendo and Apple style of reveal to release

at max we get another wired article till the reveal.

I feel they will do a wired article about specs before gdc (March 18) then reveal may

My theory is that they were pressured to show something because their direct competitor already "confident" enough to show the console. That's not a good sign.

Both consoles are launching the same time frame. There is no pressure to show something. The pressure will depend on what is said and what is shown.

Success in terms of sold hardware but a brutal loss because of the ROD Desaster. This cost them billions

PS3 had similar technical problems (YLOD), but the only difference was xbox 360 consoles were breaking within 12 months instead of 24, so MS was forced to repair faulty consoles due to warranty conditions. I'm not even sure who lost more money back then? MS has paid for RROD, but Sony lost over 200$ on each console.

Anyway PS3 example proved people can blindly buy Sony consoles just because they recognize playstation brand, but even casuals will finally open their eyes when they are paying more for less. In 2007 x360 had more games, better looking multiplatform games and not to mention it was cheaper. More and more people started buying MS console and if Sony would not react so quickly PS3 would never outsell xbox 360.

If PS5 will be just 8TF and 100$ more expensive than XSX even Sony brand will help PS5.

Tks,are you expecting the edge for XSX based on your birdie or everyone has pointed the edge for the XSX? Or is just your expectations?

There's some basic business etiquette which these companies follow & they're hardly likely to start playing the power advantage 10 months before release & before either company has revealed the full specs + price. You can take absolutely zero facts from Microsoft's messaging thus far with regards to Sony's machine. If they do know Sony's specs (a big "if"), they'll be sitting on it until they choose to use that advantage in their favor.

The only reason I respond here is because I've seen others use your exact same argumentation as well & I find it completely detached from economic & marketing realities.

Ok, let's do it all over again...

- MS will be releasing barely a handful of games that will run on the One as well as the SX, nobody else has to do this, only MS exclusives. That's like, 5 and under games, that will do this.

- the quality of these ports is not decided as we don't know, however from my own personal experience, will be nothing to worry about. They will make games for the SX and then port down, as it's easier to remove than to add. I've been developing high end media for years, and have never, ever "ported up". It's much easier to create to a target spec and then remove stuff, lower mips and reduce lods.

- the theoretical lock heart specs are created in a way to run the SX media and code with no changes but possibly at reduced quality, and at a reduced (1080p) resolution. It may have less memory, however a lot of people are blissfully unaware that of you drop resolution, you can actually run with less memory without much worry.

- lockheart(if it will even release) will include an SSD and the same spec CPU, meaning everything the SX can do, the lockheart can do, just at lower resolution.

- You're a complete tit if you feel that the Xbox will be the only one that will have cross generation ports/games.

So true. I don't understand how this is so difficult for many. MS has always been very developer friendly (even the anti-consumer Xbone features originally announced were a dev's wet dream), they've said repeatedly that they will never put restrictions on how a dev chooses to run a game, whether that is 720p or 8k. There is no mandate for Xbone support, outside of first party. Obviously, most third parties are going to go cross-gen early just for financial reasons, like they always have.

Xsx isnt even rdna2. Let alone lockhart

Doesn't make a bit of difference. As long as Anaconda and Lockhart are running the same tech (GCN, RDNA 1, 1.5, 2, etc.) a 4TF part at 1080p should handle the work of a 12tf part at 4k (assuming the CPU requirements and bandwidth requirements are met) with some room left over. Ram usage would be less at the lower resolution since high res textures would not be needed, therefore less ram/bandwidth should also not be a problem (within reason).

Hellblade 1 runs on Switch, no? It also runs at 4K on One X. Magic, I know. Games that run at 1080p on 1.4 TF One S run at native 4K on a 6 TF One X. It's not too difficult to imagine that a 4 TF SKU could run the same games that run at 4K on a 12 TF SKU. Hell, if One S/One X taught us something it's that even a 3 TF Lockhart could run those same games at 1080p. So there's even overhead.

Truth. It must blow peoples mind when they see a RX 5600 playing the same games as a 2080ti at lower resolution.

Again there is rdna2 as named by amd and specified rdna 2 . Navi 21 is rdna 2. Xsx could be the equivalent but on rdna+ which is rdna 1 plus rt and vrs. Rdna 2 is on 7nm EUV not 7nm like rdna1. Non of the consoles are getting 7nm euv cause it wont be ready on time foe high quantity launch this year.it is under testing now and will be unveiled in few months by amd.

And then curiously a month after TSMC says they are ramping up the XSX devkit starts shipping. Sounds to me like they could've easily produced a N7P APU in May, then tested it in June. Then started full production in October with devkits going out in November (we know there is only A0 of the APU). Should be totally fine producing for a console launch in nine months wíth such high yields.

Of course the gains in that case would be even higher. We are talking about 30 % in raw TF, 10 % in efficiency gains vs RDNA1, then another 30 % for VRS. XSX would absolutely crush PS5 performance wise.

it runs like shit. it looks like shit. goes all the way down to 400p. i just took some screenshots from DF's comparison video. I actually set the quality to 1080p 60 fps to capture the best quality screenshot even though the game maxes out at 720p. it didnt help because the base game goes all the way down to 400p.

witcher 3 runs on the switch too. it looks horrendous. like i said, i couldnt care less because im not buying that console.

Yeah and haven't got into the limitation of CPU/RAM/SSD yet, which is why the idea of Xbox One running Xbox Series X games are really stupid, somethings do not scale, like physics, AI, animations, speed of stuff on the screen, destruction, size and scope of worlds etc etc...

Target specs aren't the real deal. There can be mind games that happen there, and with early dev kits. Say, both put a number on a page with one being more figurative and the other more literal. This could mislead one party into thinking they have the higher target, at least for a minute. Perhaps even until it's too late to make a course correction, if say one party sent out early indications on equivalent PC targets that leaned into that false narrative . Not saying that that is a scenario that is on the table, just that it is a possibility.
