The poster is out for Wes Anderson's next film: The French Dispatch. It's very Wes Anderson (Accept no imitations).

Trailer tomorrow. :messenger_beaming:

Isle of Dogs was wonderful. Mr. Fox didn't do it for me, despite it being precision-aimed at my tastes (Wes/Dahl/OST).

That and Moonrise were not for me, but pretty much everything else is great. I'll be interested to see this.

Ouh là là, ce film a l'air très intéressant !

J'aime beaucoup les films de Wes Anderson ! Ils sont très bien !

Honhon, baguette croissant, ne tirez plus, je me rends !

There you go, my stereotypical rendition of a Frenchman.

Great poster, veeerryy promising cast (some great French actors in it like Guillaume Gallienne). Hope the trailer, and the movie for that matter, is just as good !

I'm not a huge fan of switching aspect ratios. It kind of annoyed me in Grand Budapest Hotel.

4:3 seems to be in vogue.

No idea what the release date is gonna end up being for this, but saw it pop up in my news feed for the first time in forever

This is the first movie by Wes Anderson that I didn't like. I felt asleep in the third act, the one with the children revolution.

That's a pity. I really enjoyed it. I thought that the transition where it cut to
Chalamet's character's death
was really well done.

I need to rewatch that, but the plot of that chapter is simply awful.

The initial chapter has no plot, its just pure Wes Anderson overly quaint world building, which can be great, but it is growing old and in this movie it felt overdone.

The second act was really strong and I really enjoyed it. I cannot criticize that one, but 20 isolated minutes do not make a great movie.

I still need to finish the movie, but I was disappointed. Now that I remember I was also not the biggest fan of Isle of Dogs and Fantastic Mr. Fox. The further away Wes Anderson gets from grounded reality, the worse his movies get, at least to my taste.

My ranking for perspective.

The Royal Tenenbaums
Rushmore
Life Aquatic
Moonrise Kingdom
>>>>
Grand Budapest Hotel
The Darjeeling Limited
>>>>>>>
Everything else.

I still need to watch Bottle Rocket.

I enjoyed the first half. By the third longer story I was a bit bored. There's a lot of nudity. That was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the idea of it but it went on too long.

I also recently rewatched The Royal Tannenbaums. That has to be my favorite of his. I still need to see a few of his films to properly weigh in against the others.

I still haven't seen Mr Fox. That's the only one I have missed. I like his style.

I absolutely love fantastic Mr. Fox. Its hilarious, very charming and has great banter. The voice acting is some of the best you'll ever hear and the soundtrack is *chef's kiss*. And the dialogues! The dialogues!

"If what I think is happening, is happening, it better not be!"

I liked The Grand Budapest Hotel. This one, not so much. I got instantly bored, slightly fed up and disappointed when I noticed the movie basically consists of multiple stories. Visual style is top notch, however.

My list is eerily similar to yours. And I hated Bottle Rocket, as well.
