PS5 reveal tomorrow

As someone with a Switch, PS4 Pro and a PC, it's not always the amount of TF that matters. It's the games. While the PS5 might be less powerful, it will have greeat games, that's a guarantee. If Microsoft steps up their game, which it seems like they are, they might have power and games. But it's really the games that make the difference.

I know this is potentially a dumb question but i'm curious. I know there are people who play strictly on one platform, I have never been one of those but I will say each generation I tend to cling to one console more than the other due to games, ecosystem, or where my friends are playing. I feel like I primarily do enjoy Playstation's 1st party offerings more so than Xbox BUT I still play Xbox exclusives although I play them on PC and not on the actual Xbox console.

So for those who play strictly on Playstation due to exclusives like God of War, Horizon, Uncharted, Last of Us, etc, does it genuinely dissuade you from buying a PS5 if it's less powerful than the rival platform you have no interest in buying regardless? I mean is God of War or any of the games I mentioned suddenly less enjoyable at 9tf cause Xbox players are playing Halo Infinite at 12tf?

More than TF, what interests me in a generation is games. And in that Sony if it continues in the same line as always with its firts party studies and quality of the games, it will already have a guaranteed purchase from me.

Damn .hopefully above 10 tf

He's either doing some reverse trolling, or rubbing it in and adding to his "waiting for PS gamers to apologize" tweet from last week.

I'll take the latter.

I don't care about flops and stuff, but you gotta convince people to get excited about the thing you're trying to sell...
Don't need Sony for that, just take a quick look on this site alone in the past 24 hours based off of 1-2 Tweets.
People hype themselves up and the system sell themselves regardless of how great Series X is or what Microsoft is doing.

I am predicting PS5 will have less TFs than the XSX, I wonder how the sony fanboys will take if so

They will attempt a downplay campaign like never before, it will be hilarious.

They will focus on any component that is better then the xsx and will try and downplay the GPU basically they will be in the anger and denial stage but will quickly shift into the bargaining stage

What tweet from last week? Did he say something that made sony fans angry? I really dont follow these dudes and its impossible to see every single thing that gets posted here nowadays (too many posters making the thread move too fast).

At this point I think he's trolling. But, I sincerely wonder WTF is going on over at Sony marketing HQ if they think they can do boring and very weak tech talk to millions of people after silence for months and no game reveals.

That's literally all their competition has done though and people seem to be satisfied...

From a console war perspective (I'm gonna put on the fanboy suit for a moment), why would PS "fans" be unhappy? Historically speaking:

- The PS brand is much bigger and moves more units
- There are actual console exclusives
- There's nothing to move forward to if you have the system with better games.

Don't quote me wrong, MS produces great games, but they are not console exclusives. I don't need an xbox to play them.

Now, my message to everyone: No matter who's dick is bigger, just buy whatever you want and be glad that this gen's consoles are not handicapped from day 1.

Nah this doesn't change anything, except for a few tech guys who enjoys that part of video games, most gamers don't give a damn.

If Sony announces today that the Ps5 is just a little stronger than the PS4, but it has full BC and it has under development games like Bloodborne 2, GoW2 and Spiderman 2, for example, I believe people will be hyped.

I believe that in the end of day what matters are features, games and the price. Everything else is too small to affect a console...

The best thing that MS has right now is game pass, bc and the possibility to have a cheaper version of xbox.

Sony needs to counter those fronts, not who has more flops.

I hope to see if the PS5 the size of a Dreamcast or PC Engine is possible, but I expect an OG Xbox sized console.

I like designs better than power in this case.

I'm wondering if it'll go something like this:

Xbox series Basic - cheapest, weakest, not 12 TF
PS5 Basic - second-cheapest, second-weakest, 9 or 10 tf
XsX - more expensive, second-strongest, 12 tf
PS5 Pro - most expensive, most powerful

The upsets will be if Microsoft can match Sony's power at a lower price, or vise versa.

And I know it's unrelated to next-gen, but I am curious how well or how poorly Sony and Microsoft will support the PS4 and X1. Streaming, digital storefronts, and cross-gen development will give these consoles a few extra years as long as neither company outright pulls the plug.

The Wii virtual console was in operation for 12 years, just shy of the PS2's 13-year manufacturing span.

If the base PS5 is 9tf and the pro is like 14, it makes the pro kind of pointless, the difference will be like 1700p vs 2160p , its not really a big enough difference.

The generation after that would make things even worse in that case, because we will still be on 4K - just look at GPU advancement + node shrinkage.

MS strategy is to keep them alive

Sony just wants you to focus on PS5

Videogame history affirms that customers will take lower resolution and weaker hardware if only to shave 10-20% off the sticker price.

If there is no games, no "power", no features, no price, just technicalities and a "dry" video.... Well... They fucked up.

So MS releasing specs on a sheet isn't "boring tech talk"?

I'd rather hear Cerny actually explain it and how it works, what it means, than just have numbers tossed out for fanboys to wave around.

This gen is unlike any other though, we are now seeing a big possibility of seeing sony's games coming to pc, we also have mid gen refreshes now and who knows what will happen in the future, so things arent as simple.

If the power diff is just 1 TF or less, most people wont care, but if its 3 like some are hoping, well, that will make people think about their choice.

Why would it considering if I bought a series X and can't play those games anyway?

Specs will matter least this generation. Both Sony and Microsoft are comfy with the idea of a mid-gen referesh. Nothing stopping Sony from amping up their "Pro" to surpass the XsX if it's more powerful, and nothing stopping Microsoft from doing the same if Sony's is more powerful. And nothing stopping either company from hanging on to their hardware advantage by outplaying the competition.

Please no more of this fuckery :(

I've been gaming since the 80's and I played on everything and had multiple consoles several times. I've had serious lulls in gaming and took year plus breaks from it. Got back into it with Twisted Metal Black Online and Socom online. Was all for online and getting a PS3 balked at the price got a 360 and been on Xbox ever since and only playing online multiplayer games ever since. I don't enjoy playing single player games anymore. It's all about competition, and social interaction for me. I don't need a 2nd console for this, and with crossplay I'll never need a 2nd console for this.

What fuckery?

Hug your teraflops and kiss your SSDs if you want.

Hardware specs will matter least this upcoming generation. Mid-gen refreshes ensure it. Launch day hardware doesn't matter so much when you can come out with a better box in ~2 years anyway. If you need further evidence, why are people bickering about teraflops at all? Was hardly mentioned at all in the PS3/360/Wii race. Methinks people are swallowing the marketing instead of using their heads.

Microsoft has shown multiple trailers for next generation games (halo infinite & hellblade 2). They have also shown the console design and we basically know everything at this point besides price, launch date, and what the rest of the launch titles are.

I am buying both day 1 either way.

Bloodborne was my GOAT but that's about it for the PS4 games. I did enjoy GoW as well. I am more excited for the Xbox library simply because I find their 1st party games a lot more diverse. And with the purchase of the studios it will only get better. Sea of Thieves was my Xbox GOAT the amount of reliability and emergent gameplay that game has is unmatched.

Either way, both consoles will be fantastic in their own ways and I am a gamer and sure I have preferences but I do NOT have favorites.

Switch is also my best companion.

This forum may be popular, but it has it's own niche, AKA the hardcore gaming audience who doesn't care about teraflops.

I hope this ain't the wrong thread but does anyone have a link to the stream or so once it goes live?
Wanna watch it too.
