Why not a thread for those on GAF with Corona. We can get some first hand accounts of it and help keep tabs on members who have it to check in with them.

So anyone with COVID-19 wanna check in and let us know whats going on?

Odds are a bunch of us will.

The demographics of GAF skew younger, though, so most of us will probably have mild symptoms. Some might not even know we have it. If you do exhibit signs of illness though, it's best to limit contact with others, especially old people. That shouldn't be too hard for us, again given the demographic (video gamers lol :messenger_heart: )
 
I'm in Seattle, been scouring craigslist looking for an infected to cough in my face for $10. Better to get this over with so I can roam the streets freely after recovering

Don't think that's actually been confirmed. In fact, the good doctor today was talking about how it looks like the antibodies for this will last for a good long time once developed.

Theres a Chinese guy at work sending around emails under the guise of "safety share". It's basically just CCP propaganda about face masks. He's telling us to "follow the China method" because "China and Korea are the only countries to successfully contain the virus".

Mainland Chinese citizens are like the antennaheads from Snow Crash having their thoughts beamed to them by the CCP.
 
My friend from my old university seems to have it.

Went out for a meal 2 weeks ago with 2 friends. All 3 of us knocked out within 48 hours. I am nearly never ill. I've been to a doctor 3-4 times in 20 years in London. I eat healthy obsessively. I bike everywhere. When I lived in shared accommodation and colds circulated, I would always be fine after 3 days when others would need a week to recover. This hit me hard. It was no mild flu. I slept nearly 32 hours straight, then kept up sleeping maybe 12-15 hours a day until 2 days ago. It killed my appetite. I ate cereal and juice for about 3 days. When my appetite returned I had just enough strength to boil some pasta. I drank litres of fresh juice and water to keep the fever at bay. But the coughing. Uncontrollable coughing. I would cough until water came out my eyes and nose, until the small of my back hurt, until my rib cage ached. The cough will not leave. The only thing that seemed to stem it was shallow breathing and lying down to sleep. I didn't go outside for 6 days. I believed on 2 different days I was well enough to go outside. Within 5 minutes the cold air seemed to affect my lungs and I would start coughing, bent over double in the street, coughing until I thought I was going to puke. I came back inside to lie down. I cough like I've got coal miners lungs. It is exhausting. It will affect people differently I am sure, my symptoms seemed to be a bit worse than my friends. You do not want this. It is nasty. I had no energy to even read. I could watch a movie for about 45 minutes and then I would have to lie down.
They won't test me, so I'm not on any official stats. There's going to be many of us like this. This is a horrible and exhausting illness. If you have elderly neighbours or relatives, keep an eye on them and do something for them. Don't assume that the elderly are going to be taken care of by the NHS. The NHS will be inundated and they will be having to make split second decisions about who gets treatment and who doesn't if people start turning up ill in droves. We have 6 intensive care beds per 100,000 people here. If I was 20 years older, I can imagine that this could have killed me. I feel like the illness is finally taking a turn but I am only feeling a little bit better, this battered me.

Hey all, I don't know if I have it but I've been showing shit tons of symptoms and it ain't fun.

Been breathless even when doing simple things like going up stairs and making food, sore throat like never before with the nastiest dry cough going, and I've had some harsh headaches and a fever.

So far I'm okay, not anywhere near hospitalisation levels but just gotta get through the worst of whatever the fuck I have.
 
I am not sure if I had it last week.
I knew some infection hit me start of the week. Felt suddenly quite weak, and needed to sit down a lot.
My throat ached, and then that ache went down to my lungs. Plus a mild headache.
I had a very weird body feeling for the first days. Like my body was fighting something.
Very different from when I get my usual cold every few months.

This thing went on for the whole week.
Now I feel fine again, though..

All in all, it was quite mild, symptoms wise.
Strangely enough, my sister with whom I phoned several times over last week told me, she had the same symptoms.

I kind of hope that was Corona, and that I am immune now..

People that got sick with Corona can get it again.
 
My sister's husband is an anesthesiologist so the odds are not in his favour (they often do the intubation, which naturally results in a bit of fluid coming out).

my best friends who live like 3 houses away and that weve been seeing every day - well their cousin tested positive today. sooooo now we are super aware and expecting to be asymptomatic.

my kids have had coughs that have been worsening the past week and light fevers. so were keeping an eye on that as well.

allergies have hit me the worst so far though.

But those pathogens are very different from the new coronavirus, and experts said it's unlikely that these are cases of people getting infected a second time.

"I'm not saying that reinfection can't occur, will never occur, but in that short time it's unlikely," said Florian Krammer, a virologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.

So far no one is saying you can get reinfected. And actually Dr. Campbell said that the antibodies in those who beat the virus can lead to a cure and those people are immune. Its why UK is going in on a CCP virus test that will show who was already infected not just who has it now. And those people will be able to go back to society since their antibodies will now fight the Corona Chan.

I can just tell you what I heard from Dr. Christian Drosten of the Charité hospital in Berlin when he was on a podcast yesterday.
He is kind of one of germanies biggest authorities on that matter at the moment.
And he said that those tests that were done in south korea where they gave once infected but then cured monkeys extremely high doses of infectant led them to believe that you cannot get infected again in the near future, since those monkeys didn't get ill again. Means probably at least over the next few months you will be safe from this shit if you once had it.

Hey there, I'm in medical sales and my entire team as well as most surgeons I work with have tested positive for coronavirus here in LA. I'm on day 7 of symptoms and finally got a test just to confirm. The test was positive.

I'm 39 with no other comorbidities. I have had a fever, chills, and a dry cough this past week. I do feel congestion in my chest but breathing is still okay.

I'm riding this out at home and hopefully this is uplifting to many of you as my symptoms are very manageable.

To be honest, I'm glad to be getting it over with.

Symptoms through seven days:

Loss of appetite: Day 1-7
Pain around eyes: Day 1-3
Fever/chills: Day 2-7
Dry cough: Day 4-7
Chest congestion: Day 4-7
Diarrhea: Day 1-7
Fatigue/Sleeping: Day 2-7
