You will never convince some people. I mean, half the world is in lockdown and still the infection and death rates are increasing, but because hundreds of thousands die a year from flu it means nothing.
People don't seem to understand how health systems work, and if they are at capacity, more people are going to die, not from Covid alone but all the other fatal diseases out there as they won't be getting treated.
But of course, it's just the flu.

I saw the video... the real (not shocking headline!) reason is that people cut off services because of cost and that the large portion of migrant workers who have two separate phones paused/cancled their service in that region since they couldn't travel to work in that region. We turned off a lot of our company supplied phones globally to save cost since revenue is down, including our plant in Suzhou. They are already seeing a lot of those subscribers come back as they reopen.
You will see a similar drop in subscriptions here in the US as people start cutting costs from being out of work.

Chloroquine in fish cleaner is not a drug, it is a just a chemical compound.
Drugs/pharmaceuticals are not simply compounds, but processed and purified compounds. There are tons of compounds used in other applications which are also engineered into drugs.
The idea that Trump is responsible for some halfwit proving Darwin right (woefully late, by his age) by downing bottles of fish tank cleaner is absurd.

I actually left from working at home today to buy more food because someone I know in the military said the opposite was going to happen - a 21-day total lockdown by national guard. Supposedly Trump was going to announce it at noon.
I'm not sure if this is some sort of psyop to ease people into a lockdown (maybe getting more people like me to prep more before hand) when things get worse over the next couple weeks or if it is 100% genuine.

UK update 8077 (+1427) which equates to 21.4% increase based off of 6491 new tests which equals a 21.9% positive detection rate. If this continues I expect us to pass 10K figures tomorrow. Braved Sainsbury's to do a big shop after work. Surprisingly few people there, though a lot of mask wearers (I was sporting my Bane looking Pollen Mask )including one with a full-on gas mask style affair (I noted that for future scavaging once we go full fallout) . However scant pickings for a lot of food items. Still got supplies enough that I won't need to head out again for a while save for the basics.

They should discriminate based on the nature of your job more. I don't have to enter someone's house. I don't go to a public place. I visit a house with maybe one other guy (my dad who I live with anyway) and we drive from our private home. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to work with proper sanitization and distancing. Yet here in PA we can't work in Allegheny county now. It's ridiculous blanket bans that will make us have to take money for this if it extends to everywhere when we don't have to

Doctors are already using it in seemingly hopeless cases in the US. As they should, of course - it's not like it is rare or expensive.
For some people it has seemed to work, and I think risking liver damage when someone is on the verge of drowning to death is is a good decision. Hopefully the trials bear out, but hopefully doctors are bold enough to try it now too. Crises require more risk-taking.

Drugs approved by the FDA for a particular disease means that FDA did the necessary tests to make sure the drug is suitable to treat that disease.

- Likely the fish tank cleaner label said "Not for human consumption"
- A couple drank fish tank cleaner because it contained chloroquine as an active ingredient
- One person died, another is really really sick
For the people bitching about this - tell me right now the amount of tylenol you can take before you get sick without looking at a label or googling it. Also tell me how many pills YOU can take before reaching that amount. Point I try to make is, there are labels and directions for a reason. If you ignore those labels and directions, then the problem is you, not a public official that told you to take tylenol.
Edit: if there was no label (which I highly doubt), then there's some blame to go around.

Fair enough. Approval was the wrong word as that implies it's officially recognized as a tested and proved treatment. The FDA is "facilitating" or giving the "go-ahead" for clinical trials of Chloroquine and many other potential treatments.
