You will need to give back part of the money if you worked. Universal basic income is everyone gets money but you pay it back if you don't need it. It saves a ton in employees and procesesses.NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh wants to make Canada's CERB universal.

On one hand, giving every Canadian $2000 bucks for 4 months is going to increase our debt proportionally and may even trigger inflation.
On the other hand, why should I bust my ass at work and risk getting sick when my neighbor sits at home collecting his gibsmedats?
Decisions, decisions.
Edit: You know what I would do? Give Canadians the money and demand the government force China to pay for it. Let them carry the burden for this economic meltdown, not the workers who are forced to put up with this crap for minimum wage.
Japan and South Korea? Also a lot of those ones shown (all of them besides Germany) are small and/or island nations that are much easier to lock down. Plus many had more advanced warnings as it happened to not go there first![]()

Factors always differ. The common denominator is that countries that listened to leading scientists early and exclusively made the best out of whatever particular crisis situation they have been in.Japan and South Korea? Yeah, I wondered that as well. What is Belgium doing on there? In terms of per capita deaths, they are one of the worse in Europe (more deaths than neighbouring Netherlands, with only half the population). The South Korean leader should be on there too, but I guess he has a penis, so...
Boris is back. Also misleading headline no one knows if he took hydro.
But i used this tweet because isnt that the most shameless BBC rip off ever ? This is Sorny and Magnet Box levels.
They are hinting this shit could last all year....

Let us all sign waivers and let's go back to work. The lockdown will kill us before the virus has a chance. But one thing is clear: Larger gatherings of people will not be possible for the next 1-2 years.
The push for chloroquine is suspicious.
Not hinting. This is the scientific consensus and has been the scientific consensus for decades.
Pandemics don't just disappear. If we let them, novel viruses will spread until we have a vaccine.
Different viruses have different R0 values, the R0 values measures how many other people have to be infected by one infected person for the virus to continue spreading.
Unfortunately Corona has a very low R0 value.
German virologist expect that the R0 value needs to be pushed below 1 for the virus to stop spreading.
Meaning that each positive person must on average infect less than 1 other person. Think about what that means: Up to 2 weeks of incubation, 40-50% asymptomatic course and many weeks of total course of illness. During all that time people are infectious and must infect less than 1 other person on average.
The virus spreads exponentially unless we take measures against the exponential spread. (Social distancing, staying at home)
That statement will be true until there is a vaccine and 70% of the population are vaccinated.
So the task now is to find a level of shutdown measures that's effective enough so that the healthcare infrastructure isn't overwhelmed, but at the same time allows as many freedoms as possible and allows the economy to run as normal as possible.
Finding this sweet spot requires a lot of coordination and information, though. Currently, most countries aren't in a position to find this sweet spot, because they don't test enough and don't know enough about the state of the spread.
But one thing is clear: Larger gatherings of people will not be possible for the next 1-2 years.
Every cable news pundit living in a mortgage-free mansion with millions in the bank who says they need to keep people locked up for a year should be forced to pay rent and bills for everyone they're not allowing to work. Otherwise they should shut the fuck up.
is it a push if it works

The alternative is a death toll of several thousand people every day for 1-2 years.
The alternative is a death toll of several thousand people every day for 1-2 years.
There are many remedies with some promise to them. But early studies show that effects are very small if measurable at all.
It's irresponsible to propagate miracle ailments during a pandemic.
So-called "cures" in the best case, will be able to reduce ICU admissions by a few percents or reduce time in ICU by some degree on average.
But there won't be anything like antibiotics you can give to just kill coronaviruses.
The only real solution will be the vaccine in 1-2 years.

New signs suggest coronavirus was in California far earlier than anyone knew
A man found dead in his house in early March. A woman who fell sick in mid-February and later died. These early COVID-19 deaths in the San Francisco Bay Area suggest that the novel coronavirus had …ktla.com
Can we acknowledge the fact that both left and right, for whatever reason, were "just a flu bro" before mid-March when numbers started going exponentially?
Personally I feel like the HHS secretary and CDC director are responsible for the US response being so slow as they are briefed by CCP on Jan 3 on this matter.
Anyone buying Russia's claims? What are they doing over there?
They say they have done nearly 1.2 million tests, thats 3rd in the world.
Is everything just BS coming from them? I heard they were kicking out Chinese and sending them back to China.

Both South Korea and China media heavily suspect Japan government originally under-reported cases to keep Tokyo Olympic going through and did not conduct enough tests. By comparison, Japan only conducted 1/10 of South Korea's test number. It's difficult to get tested in Japan even before late March. If you look into the graph, after Abe postponed the Olympics in March 24th, the new reported cases started to soar and increased 10-30% every day. Now Japan is partly also locked-down.

Being smart and compassionate really holds you back.
I also tried to overcome my privileges of being white and rich, but no matter how hard I tried, I wasn't able to shed these stains.
What got me through these tough times was my limitless hatred for my peers.
Every glance at their white affluent faces reinforced a deep animalistic drive in me not to end up like them.
This kind of drivel from a letter poster who said this in another thread:

Low viral load means catching relatively small number of wulhan virus.

I think you don't understand what insider trading means. Not sure how locking in your profits in the face of global pandemic is insider trading?![]()
It appears news has slowed to a crawl in this thread so I shall entertain you all with memes poking fun at the scumbaggery afoot in the American political system.
@smileswhere you at with the info?!
80% of these statements had been reasonable at the time they've been made.
There is no point in shutting down when there is no local spread.
The main problem during this time was the lack of widespread testing.
If you know an epidemic is around the corner you ramp up testing capabilities so you spot it instantly and are then able to take targeted and informed measures.
Ayy, my pet conspiracy theory of "everyone around here (MI) was sick with a 'bad cold' in January; people probably had Covid then and didn't know it" is getting spicier!
It's still "just a flu", bro. We're gonna have it until we get herd immunity/vaccine no matter what. The normal flu(s) are the same way.
As far as I understand, Moscow is exploding with cases right now; the rest of the country is a lot more spread out. Russia-bros correct me if wrong.
Gotta push that gender 'genda!
The shit coming from our Governer makes no damn sense, lol. Making me miss Snyder and his grating voice.![]()

So you would sit with a thumb up your ass watching yourself lose 100s of thousands of $ only because protecting your wealth is profiting off a pandemic? Grow up.
Or maybe it was when Pelosi and DeBlasio were downplaying it?
Remember when Pelosi was in China town telling people to come on down, and DeBlasio was telling people to go the movies.
Clearly they were doing this to give those people a chance to dump their stocks and make big profits. Looks like the case is cracked. The walls are closing in.
We might need the New York Times to find out if Pelosi or DeBlasio own 50$ in mutual fund in Chinese restaurants and movie theaters. Why else would the be telling people to go to these places unless the stand to gain financially. We got em this time.
This is not a binary matter. You have to do as much as you can to mitigate. The idea of a normally functioning economy while a pandemic runs free is absurd.Keeping people locked up without a way to pay for rent or food for 1-2 years is not possible. Do you not realize that? There will be more deaths if they try that.
There was no "conspiracy", they just had (and still have to some degree) very strict requirements in order to get tested, and limited numbers of tests.I don't think the Abe government is capable of pulling off a conspiracy like that without it leaking immediately. More like was that folks started getting sick of the voluntary event cancellations and such around March when the weather got nice and the cherry blossoms started blooming and went outside without masks, letting their guards down, thinking that Japan was special in some way and had somehow avoided the virus.
Well to be fair yeah, everyone was more than likely doing something dirty. I was explaining the meme specifically. I do love how defensive you people get though, it's hilarious. It's alright man, that Republican elephant isnt going to bang you guys, it is totally ok to be criticizing (and laughing about) the scumbaggery going on!

They weren't hiding numbers, just producing low numbers to begin with, by the nature of the way the testing works.
People are still out and about quite a bit today. Still lots of people without masks. People with symptoms not being tested unless they meet the requirements. These are the problems.
