On this Sunday exactly one year ago...

The biggest cultural phenomenon TV series of our lifetimes was entering its final stages of ruination. Game of Thrones season 8 debuted on this Sunday a year ago. The first two episodes were fine... it fell to shit after that though and gradually spiraled downward into flames by the finale. It was actually impressive watching it gradually fall apart bit by bit as the season progressed. Just one misstep after another culminating into the disgrace that was the finale. And not just lazy plot points, but lazy production, like multiple stuff being left on-set and not spotted while shooting. A Starbucks cup... a water bottle?

Hard to believe it's been one year since it ended.

I thought the ending was fine albeit a bit trite. I feel the critique is overblown. Kinda like Mass Effect 3. But I'm not a big Game of Thrones fan, it was decent entertainment at best.

The general outcomes while still bad IMO aren't what I think people think are awful. It's how it went down specifically. The finer details and the logistics of it all.

This Sunday 1 year ago today a whole bunch of people gathered to pray and celebrate their mystical star baby that was born from a virgin woman impregnated by a god that had magical powers and died and rose from the dead.

Aside from the dragons game of thrones sounded more realistic.

Get that out of your system?

Back on topic, yeah GoT S8 was a disaster. Biggest television disappointment of my life.

HBO fucked the series way before season 8 by leaving what made it great behind for what would appeal to the widest audience. The downfall started at season 5 easily. I hope the money was worth it to them.

I still got 4 more seasons to watch and based on what people say about Season 8... I'm not sure If I want to finish it.
Definitely finish it. Despite season 8(and half of 7) it's still one of the greatest experiences ever made. And even the crap parts in season 8 are at least a spectacle in terms of visuals.

It says a lot that one of the biggest pop culture phenomena in the last ten years is not getting much attention now that people is at home and would be a great time for a re-watch.

It amazes me how they fucked it up. It was such a big let down...

Now I really think the books will never come out.
