From the main line, 3 and 5 are my favorite ones tbh. Everything else it's kinda janky in some way or another, but great games when they came out (except 2).... Because in a moment of madness I just bought them all in the sale without playing a single one
Devil May Cry 1-5 and the DMC reboot (?) For the price of one full game
Which one is your favourite entry? Will we ever get a Devil May Cry 6 or has the series concluded?
I did play and enjoy Bayonetta, so fingers crossed I like these.

I've just got to the Sewer level (after the big black Knight battle).
I am enjoying it. There is alot you have to teach yourself though, which feels strange in this modern climate. Apart from when I want mobility is it best to keep R1 pressed all the time during combat encounters?
I find those black cats hard to beat reliably. I didn't go for easy mode when It offered it to me on at the end of chapter 2, I hope that was the right call.
How can something be both boring and adhd? That makes no sense.Never liked them, boring adhd killing of 10000000 bastards

all of them are excellent/good except dmc2 .. dont waste youre time with it ..
It's a top 5 franchise. Maybe even my favorite apart from Final Fantasy. DMC 2 is... lackluster. But the rest are fan fucking tastic. That includes the reboot. Dont listen to the haters. Shit fucking metal.
Never been great at the series but I think it's a cool franchise. The PS2 games were too hard for me when I last attempted but that was years ago. Never really got into the PS3 versions nor the newest one because I want to beat the older ones first. Perpetually shelved...
I've only recently gotten better at "character action" games. What you described has been my experiences in other similar titles, you nailed it! I'm fond of those rare games which have a high skill ceiling yet also have a wide variety of ways to reach that ceiling (I think DMC qualifies for that description). For me at least the first like 2 hours are the worst because it's so hard and it's a bit of an adjustment to learn the skills. Then you upgrade your character and know what everything does and it gets alot easier/more enjoyable. I liked it before, loving It now. It's very addictive once you get going collectiong orbs/searching for secrets.
I'm the same thought playing them in order because I don't want to miss anything.

I'll revisit the DMC games someday. I'm sure I'll enjoy them much more after getting better at the genre overall. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I wouldn't have thought there would be much collecting or exploring the game for secrets, but hearing that only makes me more eager to try it out (again) and overcome those earlier sections. Similar to Wonderful 101, I get the impression the DMC games don't truly "start" until you've played through once and learned the combat. I'm okay with that, but it makes the prospect of going through the whole series a bit more daunting.![]()
What's the first? Bayonetta? You made a good decision. Its the second best hack n slash series of all time. To me at least. Have fun
I think it's a terrible, repetitive, mindless action game that kickstarted a bad genre. The way the music changes every time there's a fight (which is nearly always) is also a terrible thing that was used by so many games since.
I thought DMC 5 was awful. The graphics are great but the level design sucks, repetitive and dull world and stages. Also, it needs to reinvent the formula of walking, close barrier, defeat enemies, and so forth which is so Playstation 2
I would agree with you if Devil May Cry 1 didn't exist, but it's nothing like you're describing. Also Ninja Gaiden Black, the best game in the genre, is easily one of the best games of all time, period, so it can't be a bad genre.
