It's a game that thinks it has something deep and meaningful to say...yet no one ever told Druckman that he is about as deep as a puddle.

- Great graphics
- Great voice acting (given the writing). The voice clips during fights with Ellie or thugs chasing each other and yelling is much better than cut scenes
- Cheesy dialogue
- Awful story and plot and character development
- Lots of SJW/virtue signalling jammed in
- 50% walking around in linear areas searching safely with ZERO threat of zombies or thugs + 45% cut scenes + 5% fighting/gunplay
- There were times cut scenes must have been 10 minutes long
Probably a 9 or 10/10 if you like cinematic games with high production values and occasional intense fight sequences. A 4 or 5/10 if you want a meaty game with lots of action.

The hate started when the leaks came out and most of the hate is centered around the straight woman (Abby) who murdered and tortured a beloved character and ends up basically getting away with it. I doubt anyone would have even made fun of her physique (I mean it is funny) to the extent they did if she didn't do *the bad thing.*
Even all my LGBT mutuals on tumblr hate it. It's a bad ending. The cute moments between Ellie and Dina are honestly one of the only things I like about this game. Druckmann tried to make a woke game but was too hard for Abby so he ended up managing to make gay people angry that he fumbled the LGBT storyline and killed one of the best father figures in gaming.

Isn't this the last thing trans people want? If you are going to make a trans character suffer at least be because of something else.
Lev even gets into fights and beaten up by his own family, that was so awkward to listen to, i can only imagine how it must have felt for someone that probably went through something similar to play through that part.
I thought that was pretty weak on the part of ND, especially after all the virtue signaling.

I'm assuming Lev is the Asian trans guy? I'm not that far in the game and most of the leaks I've seen have been Abby focused. But yeah, LGBT people absolutely hate this character from what I've seen, for the exact reason you stated. I've seen a lot of talk from LGBT gaming circles I'm in about the trans character in this game being a total misstep. They hate that he's consistently beaten down for being trans. They just want a character that happens to be transgender.

Honestly i made a promise to myself after Assassin's creed Revelations that i would never buy another Ubisoft game until the company went through a massive change in how they develop their stuff, and honestly i'm better for it.
Same thing with sports game, i woke up one day at the beginning of the last decade and felt i was being milked literally, made the same decision that i did with Ubisoft.
No regrets, i don't suspect with Neil will be any different.

I think it's because people think they can go woke and end it there. They say "let's appeal to the woke crowd to get money, then we don't have to try as hard." There are amazing games with LGBT storylines and diverse casts, as someone pointed out in this thread, but those games didn't use the game's diversity as it's main selling point.
I love gay characters. I love female protagonists. I loved TLOU Left Behind. But this game felt soulless, and like there was very little love behind it. It wasn't made to be a good quality product for gay and straight people alike, it was made to take their money and spit in their face.

Straley might also have been the reason why the Ellie-Joel flashbacks were great, and may have been written way before Druckmann started kissing Anita's ass.
