***EDIT: See the corrected post below. Post the wrong screenshot. Though WCIII Reforged was a scam as well.***

No, it was a scam at launch, I do not trust the devs at all.

Launch Day. Even the Critics gave it bad reviews.

Game is incredibly shallow once you spend around 50 hours doing the same shit over and over. Even with the most unbeatable elite crew of veterans and nonstop domination it's nothing more than a grind churn that doesn't last long.

Play with group of friends for PVP and it's pretty special, wasn't a long term joy for me

To critics of Sea of Thieves...

Is there anything Rare could do, to turn it around in your opinion? Is there a gameplay loop they should add that would make the game have longer legs?

Considering Minecraft was released almost 10 years ago. Sea of Thieves has more than enough time to get to that legendary status. The Steam numbers don't lie.

Really need to give this game another go. Played a few hours of the beta and kind of felt I saw it all. Interested to see how it's changed since then.

I'm an avid SoT player and think it's a great game and has a great community. The game has done really well for Rare and Microsoft and I'm sure it has brought them some financial rewards, but it's still far from something along the lines of Wow, Minecraft, Fortnite, PUBG, Counter Strike, etc.

No. The way you compared today's numbers to it's launch day numbers doesn't make any sense.

You view player engagement as a trend. That tells you a more complete picture.

The game has been out on Steam since June 3rd. The peak numbers just on Steam for today (6/22/20) were 58k, with the all time high (last weekend) at 66k. And that is just Steam. Since Steam, Microsoft PC and XB1 gamers can all play on the same servers, the peak numbers on the weekends are probably around 100k.

And as for player engagement on Steam, Sot is a huge time sink and gamers have already logged in 13,375,955 hours on the game.

As long as they keep adding stuff to the game. When it first came out there was SO LITTLE to do... Now,there's still not much, but its greatly improved. I still play it with friends and have fun,but it still needs more content.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Warcraft Reforged and Sea of Theaves are different games.
It really shows how much they care or pay attention, when they can’t even link the right reviews.

I imagine they played it throughly before coming to that same decision.

I bought it about a year ago to play with two friends. We were immediately hooked. Such a fun and lovingly crafted game. If you go in expecting a massive storyline and a pirate Epic you will be disappointed. It is more like a playful pirate simulator, with amazing Graphics. Sadly we haven't been able to play that often due to problems getting all Three of us together at the same time, but I absolutely love the game and would recommend it to anyone that likes pirates and vast open seas. And holy shit
that first time the kraken comes for you, I almost shit my pants.

Alright so this thread made me try it out I got gamepass for PC anyway and it's not my cup of tea at all, the water is amazing and the artstyle is actually not too bad but the game doesn't click.
More power to those who like it.

Love pirate games but I never got into this. Worst 30 bucks ever spent.

I remember starting the game up. Wanted to play solo. Couldn't even travel away from the island.

Did they add any meaningful progression systems or ship designer or like pirate clans?

I genuinely don't follow the game because early release was so shallow and reward-less it's laughable and the devs said it was by design.

Maybe you didn't give it a chance?

Piloting a sloop solo really isn't all that difficult and you can even out manoeuvre and escape fully crewed brigantines and galleons with a bit of practice.

It has proven to have long legs. The ball is in Rare's court to keep it appealing and not make it fade away.

Since when is PUGB a timeless ultra hit?

Sea of Thieves is the best and most successful exclusive new IP of this generation. That says it all

Damn guys, I have so much fun with this game, so silly but at the same time intriguing. To be honest I could play this all days with my friends all year long. Which generate question, will this become one of mega-ultra hits timeless multiplayer like PUBG, Minecraft GTA V and others? I've seen the popularity of this game shoot through the roof when your average joe in my country talking about this game. The price of the game is cheap too and the game itself doesn't need high specced PC to play it.

Congrats Rare you hit it out of the park this time, I will continue to play this games for the time being (possibly all year long)

(PS: don't turn this into another xbox worship thread)
Would you care to explain what you love about the game. I tried it early on. Got motion sickness and haven't really gone back. In any case, I'm glad you have experienced gaming euphoria.

It's a rare thing (pun intended)

How long do you think "the honeymoon period" lasts? We're 3 weeks into launch and it's already starting to drop. It didn't even make it to the end of the month.

Sea of Thieves isn't a bad game. But to compare it to one of this generations best games (PUBG) is downright offensive. Cancel culture should only apply to Sea of Thieves apologists!
