Even though I don't agree with asking for a ban, I totally understand the sentiment.

More and more this place has being infestated with people calling other incels, homophobics or wankers.

Worst thing is that I know exactly the members who do this type of behaviour.

Yeah. I think if your only argument towards a well-reasoned point, or people just talking, is incel this and that, and you have that constant pattern in every post, just GTFO.

To be clear, I'm talking about nothing but ad hominems, not posters getting incidentally heated during a debate, like in this thread.

Edit: Thinking about it more, you can see what a tough line that is to define, though.

Wasn't Gamernyc78 warned for using the clown emoji some time back, but here in this very thread, people are calling other members clowns and lodging straight insults and they are void of any punishment or infractions. They are not attacking arguments but instead attacking members and nothing is done. I've seen the same guy spreading his hateful rhetoric towards members constantly, insults them and piggies back... ohhh..."it's a joke" when people don't buy his BS tough guy routine.

This is causing the fall of the forum more than anything I've seen. I think such people think they are untouchable here. Something so simple you would think for adults, but it seems people can't argue for or against points without insulting others. Or they just sit in a corner hating or even posturing.....Hating that other members are ignoring their hate and discussing things civilly or even having a good time. It seems the place they get the most traction on a gaming forum is in a ban thread calling for people to leave the forum or be ousted, there is simply something fundamentally wrong with such hatemongers. If your opinion is what you want to hear re-gurgitated, you might as well make your own forum which I'm sure many will not visit or bother with. I fail to see how the distasteful and drab humor which many people pass as jokes in many of these OT threads are the highlight of GAF, calling each other cunts and such, but I digress....

Normally I might agree with what you wrote there, but after your defense of the hate and insults towards dark, I find your analytical ability lacking.

Follow my history with Dark, I have never insulted him ever, but he has insulted me. I have never condoned people insulting others here...I only focus on the analyses and the inconsistencies that are plain to see....
 
I'll openly admit that I have a personality flaw of trying to see the best in people, to put this into context.

For what it's worth, I don't think Outrageous Facts is a pedophile, or has pedophile thinking. I think that was a superbly dumb post from someone obsessed with pushing back on censorship, and not realizing how far they pushed.

It's not the first I've seen of this. People, even good people I personally know, have gotten locked into that anti-SJW mode and advocated some sketch shit as a result, until I pointed it out, and they realized.

In my general beliefs, just so everything is set straight, pedophiles deserve a bullet or castration. It is not something I fuck around on.

I'm not sure what I'm asking for here. I guess I'm trying to contribute another view that may (or may not) add more context to the situation and leave it at that.

I respect your decision in any case, and thank you for your time. Too many people come in here hulking out, myself included.

I just want to echo this sentiment because although I don't really know OutrageousFacts all that well I don't believe they were straight up advocating paedophilia. I think they just fucked up in a heat of the moment type post as -Arcadia- -Arcadia- has put into words better than I could.

It feels like a harsh ban, but I can understand GAF not wanting to associate with anything such as that line of thinking.

I agree that it was really really weird for OutrageousFacts to post something like that. But like you said it made sense got Gaf to not want to keep him around.

All I will say about the post he made was that it made me feel very uncomfortable. We went through a situation where I work where someone was arrested for posessing paedophilia. While I didn't know the person personally it just felt weird that we worked in the same place and he did those sorts of things.

Not an easy spot for mods to be put in, for sure.

I don't think anyone normal would feel comfortable with that. If I owned a site I wouldn't allow that kind of content.

Not that I'm accusing Outrageous Facts of being a paedophile but I don't think he's comment was appropriate at all.

I could see why he/she got a perm.

When I saw that post, I was about to type a response about how recent threads in GAF have expressed similar thoughts that he's objecting too. But then I didn't have time to properly find the threads to make a decently sourced "both sides" argument, so I dropped it.

It might have been that one. I remember there being multiple ones over the years. Basically the point of my post was going to be that yes, I see the argument about fiction vs reality and the consequences of censorship. However, that doesn't mean we can point out how distasteful some of it can be and the ramifications of how we draw the line regarding that sort of content. The "REE" opinion that he was mocking is actually shared by a lot of us on GAF too. It is hard to tell who's making an honest to goodness censorship vs artistic freedom and who just wants to look at depictions of underage sexuality, but at the end of the day I'm not a mind reader so I try to just let people's arguments speak for themselves.

I think its more of a view born from the notions "Crime requires victims" and "Only crimes deserve reprehension"

In short, Outrageous Facts probably views the awfulness of child porn in the fact that it has real victims behind it, suffering because of it, and in those things alone. In the case of loli/shota hentai, in his/her eyes since there's no direct real victim there's no crime, if there's no crime its not reprehensible.

While i do think "Crime requires victims" is a perfectly valid way of seeing things, its the notion "Only crimes deserve reprehension" that i see as flawed. Fetishicizing children is not something that should be viewed as normal or OK even if there's no direct victim involved. We as a society still need to abide to certain moral standards if we desire to function properly, even if such standards aren't necessarely tied to law. I guess its even possible to draw similar (but not equal) parallels to abortion, where the abortion itself should be legal since there are many varying circunstances where it might be necessary, but it still shouldn't be viewed as normal (much less a form of women empowerment as some lunatics unfortunately do).

Anyway, i guess i wrote all of this to defend Outrageous Facts honor (and because i like this sort of analytical discussion) and say we shouldn't think badly of him. I actually liked the guy/gal and was already recognizing him when reading threads. I 100% believe he/she wasn't a pedophile nor a person taking things too far as much as someone with slightly misguided views on the subject, and if we were to be judged for something like that we'd all be burning in hell.

All in all I understand the ban, although i think it would've been more appropiate to just delete his post and give him a warning saying we shouldn't give the site a bad outlook.

From what I can see, English is not the first language of @OutrageousFacts. He still does not understand many of the sites rules and probably just went with the flow of the ResetEra thread. Give him a warning and delete his post.

sexualised drawings of Children are illegal in some countries (UK and Australia I believe) and as GAF is an international forum it's best that views of those drawings being OK are not promoted.

Yeah there's already a fair amount of creepy bullshit you come to expect when viewing mainstream Japanese media. So it already starts out in a place of "I like this but this is weird".

But when you're already bombarded with something like their fetishization of high school girls and then somehow someone goes "we gotta go younger" - that shit can be thrown back into the Pacific Ocean because it's beyond creepy and disgusting.
