We've known for months that MS's first party output will be cross "gen" (gens are dead) for a good while. Years by the sounds of it. The majority of the stuff you see today will also be on X1.
Getting boring explaining this honestly, but that's the whole point. Xboxes aren't generational now, they're just PCs. They're not arbitrarily limiting games that could run on an XSX to the new boxes, they're letting you decide when you upgrade. Immediately? Great. In 2 years when your hardware is finally too weak to run the new games properly? Also great. They're just removing the illusion of choice that you have when you try to run software on massively outdated hardware to a reasonable standard. As long as you're in the ecosystem and paying for Game Pass / Gold, they're happy. It's also the reason they're emphasising BC so much, again, your new flashy box is just a decent spec PC that can run old games even better than before.
Just wait for the Xbox Series X Elite or whatever in about 3-4 years.

Yeah so am guessing there will be some Gen 9 exclusive content and some cross gen. Ideally they will show the difference between them but more than likely just give out buzzwords like fps, resolution, optmised for series X etc

Really hard to tell where Microsoft is right now with their games. This tweet is a bit weird given that Microsoft said all first party games are cross gen for the first couple of years so all games we see tonight (unless it is third party exclusively developing for the PS5 and XSX) are going to be Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X and PC if I am not mistaken?
In a way that is a good thing though (for me). If XSX were to go all out and give games the Naughty Dog treatment of making the impossible possible then surely my PC wouldn't be able to run those XSX games well, but for the next 2 years~ I should be fine.
Still from a progress and curiosity standpoint I would prefer if Phil Spencer came on stage and dropkicked the Xbox One X out off existence, made an L sign with his hand over his head facing a picture of Don Mattrick and screams "NEXT GENS BEGINS THIS YEAR FUCK THE PAST" and reveals everything they said so far has been a hoax.

What could they possibly talk about that is XBone focussed? Sony didn't even talk about TLOU2 or Ghosts in their event.

I think he's setting expectations low intentionally, I think the show will be dominated by Series X snd people will be surprised. Why would they concentrate on old gen when they've just cancelled Series S and XB1X?

honestly people shouldn't feel disappointed. Microsoft's showcase is all about games, they've already said there won't be exclusives for Series X for the next two years. Today they are having a phenomenal event showcasing games, games and more games. Why does it matter if it's Series X or Xbox One?

Xbox doesn't have a camera or Kinect this time around, not even a port for it. I think they were scarred enough by it not to ever touch it on console ever again. It's the VR cameras that you'll need to worry about next, full body tracking ect.

Yeah we expect always the first showings to be a mixed back but more next Gen showcase. Three or four solid next Gen showings and I'll be happy enough. With Microsoft I don't think thyll one up Sony buttttt if they can at least be on par or show they have some really good goodies then thy did their job. Again most of this shit is subjective. E. G. I could care less for Halo but I know some ppl love it, I'm looking out for Fable today

If they actually opened with GTA VI i would laugh my ass off... sorry not to fanboy here too hard but if Sony showed a trailer for GTA V and then MS turns around and gets GTA VI that would be insane and the entire internet would EXPLODE.
But since Sony appears to have marketing rights with GTA at the moment i'm expecting them to drop a GTA VI trailer in August which would also be awesome.
