wtf it's out?!?! I purchased the most spency one, where's my link?

F This.... torrent time.

Also.... lol at all the 'it's shit' calls right now after half a listen. Let's see in 1 year what people think. Like this with every radiohead release.
Did you check the order status on the website?

Everyone hated Kid A after going through Pablo Honey, OKC, Bends... they'll come around they always do. It's part of what makes Radiohead, Radiohead.

<3

Wow, the ending of the album is really really strong. I think it's the kind of change that will help recontextualise it on later listens.

First listen score - 7/10.

Feral is pretty awesome, I only wish I could actually hear the bass through my shitty headphones :D

Little by little is the most interesting song so far.

It's been a few years and I still think In Rainbows was a low point for them. Still amazing, but not by Radiohead standards.
Up until about two weeks ago I agreed. Then I put In Rainbows on in the car, turned it up ridiculously loud and really paid attention to everything going on in there and had one of those rare "oh my fucking god" pin drop moments, and now I'm absolutely in love with the damn thing.

It's a really easy album to not digest that album even after a couple of playthroughs if you're either not paying attention fully or not listening to it on an appropriate output, but man is the pay-off worth it.

my least favourite songs on the first listen are the dense ones with choppy percussion, so it'll be interesting how i feel after 20 listens. it's good, intimate in scope but with less of the warmth of in rainbows and more of the range of sounds and experimentation on amnesiac. some of the early songs do sound like they are cut from the eraser on first glance with less band influence, but the songwriting is still better than what thom does alone i think. i agree that it finishes really hard, just wish it started as strong. favourite tracks are the warm, though melancholy, codex with its lovely piano and the slower paced seperator with that guitar. of course everything i've said will probably change in a few listens but that's my initial impression.

Depends how much she likes Radiohead I guess
if she loves them she'll most likely tell you to fuck off because she's busy lmao

Impressions so far - this really is pretty different, almost Kid A like. Sounds more like Thom's solo stuff than normal Radiohead.
sounds awesome. Will buy.

Has any band in history ever been so obviously averse to doing what they are actually good at?

Newsflash, Thom: you do not have the chops, never have had the chops, never will, to make good electronic music.

The drums on this are embarrassing. Codex/Give Up the Ghost are good because they actually sound like what Radiohead are capable of.

Interesting, it seems to be more laid-back than even In Rainbows.

I like it, though, and as everyone says, it'll be interesting to see how repeat listens change things. And to see what the deal with the newspaper album is.

Outside of trying that 01-10 playlist thing, I've not really listened to it for a while so I'll give it another go maybe I'll get it.

just listened to bloom, am up to the magpie one.

Bloom sounded cool. Really liked the intro lyric. Open your mouth wide. heh.

Mr Magpie is great so far.

I almost feel like my opinion of this will be entirely dictated by when they release their next album. If it's not for another three years then ehhhhhh

omg dis album did not fufil my expectations of being the next ok computer/kid a i must moan about that instead of appreciating the album for what it is

Pretty good so far, I don't see this reaching the upper echelon of radiohead albums. But we'll see, shame i won't be able to listen to it in full again until tomorrow night.

i actually love shorter albums, but it's a little disappointing that three years led to only 37 mins of new music. hopefully there's more to release as b-sides or a second disc or something.

Each of their albums has been more disappointing than the last for almost a decade now. People need to start calling them on it.

what if people disagree with you? I think amnesiac was the low point.

Seriously, calm down give it a few listens thennnn give a judgement.

This always happens. People are so quick to jump the gun. The best albums are the ones that require multiple listens to grow on you.

Man, Kid A took me at least 5 or 6 listens before I could dig it.

Edit: I loved HTTT on my first listen and it remains my favourite Radiohead album. I am not ashamed to admit this.

Just finished my first listen. Now on the second.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING AND ANYONE WHO DISAGREES NOW WILL UNDERSTAND AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE.

The last line on the album is:
"If you think this is over then you're wrong'

and the song name is "Seperator".

Combined with the short length of the album I'm guessing it won't be to long until we see the next album.

I'm on my third listen through now, still need more listens until I can form a proper opinion though.

In Rainbows is clearly a more thoughtful, cohesive whole than HTTT. And I'm definitely digging this current album even more on second listen than the first.
