PlayStation 5 Pre-Orders Starting TOMORROW (Sep 17) (Some may be TODAY)

I was lucky enough to refresh at the right time on Best Buy Canada. I texted my friends about it, waited until I received my confirmation, then told you guys

You know, like any normal person 😜

Had Sony clearly communicated during the stream that pre-orders were to only start the next day, people would be aware that retailers are breaking the date.

No, it was never available through the page. Someone posted a link that let us add it to our shopping carts and order.

This was the craziest thing. It reallyfelt like it must've been some link for internal use that got leaked. But in the end IGN was tweeting it out so basically anyone on Twitter could get it before the console was really out on Amazon at all.

I was on flu medication last night and was sleepy as hell. Thank God I battled to stay awake, because I felt that they'd be available at noon, and could ordered mine.
 
After the way Sony fucked a lot of people opening pre orders a day early they may have lost my business. Pretty unprofessional to do people dirty like that after explicitly saying they wouldn't just drop it on people without notice. And the retailers who allowed links to buy up all the stock before it was public are fucking dirtbags too. I know Amazon did for a fact.

is it sony though or just retailers taking matters into their own hands ? The orginal tweet was for tomorrow and then retailers just started taking pre orders one by one at random times.

not defending them just genuinely curious. The GameStop's here are only taking them today it's separate from the online preorders

Sony controls the stock. Without stock there's nothing to pre-order so yeah Sony is to blame imo. If it was one or two retailers that did it I'd believe it's an honest mistake but the fact they all did it is a coincidence I don't believe. Again Sony explicitly said they wouldn't do this to people.


Edit: What's more believable. Sony allowed it to happen or every retailer said fuck it and went rogue early?

I managed to grab one from Amazon last night. But this whole thing was a mess. Sony communication department for next gen is not looking good if they continue like this. I feel bad for those that will probably have no choice but to grab a PS5 from those scalpers at Ebay.

I tried on Target (doesn't ship to my location), Best Buy never worked for me, Gamestop for whatever reason doesn't want to ship to my area and Walmart were already sold out. Thankfully Wario64 Amazon link solved it for me.

It's a continuation of the Sony fuckery with PS5 communication so it's not surprising.
 
I sat on Amazon refreshing the page for an hour. It never once came up to pre-order and then all the sudden they were unavailable out of stock. The fact they allowed people to buy it through a link before their own app is enough to make me stop doing business with Amazon too. I went through 4 customer service reps asking why the fuck I pay for shit like prime when they let people order off a fucking link before their own app. They knew it was dirty but they DGAF they kept passing me around like a whore at a frat party until they admitted people bought up the stock through the link while normal people got fucked.

Sony can't control the retailers. you think Sony is going to tell amazon "sorry, you broke the rules no ps5 for you?" Amazon was actually the last place to go live, Walmart, target and Best Buy all were before amazon. Amazon was the closest to midnight.

places will restock before launch. I just Cancelled my target order and I know a lot of people will be canceling from Walmart and target

Guess no new consoles for me this year. Everything sold out and when Xbox Preorder starts i will be at work for many hours.
Well 80eu for games is a ripoff anyway

Yeah I don't buy that shit at all. Like I said I find it more likely that Sony allowed it to happen than I do every retailer broke the pre-order date in concert without Sony knowing. If you want to believe it go ahead.

Walmart even tweeted out saying they werent going to make people wait until tomorrow...
 
Fellas, give Sam's Club a try. Just preordered from there no problem and none of the big twitter have linked it yet.

They do charge and extra $50 "handling fee" to non-members but I'm willing to pay it at this point.

I really wanted to order through Best Buy to use rewards $ in the U.S. I live on the East Coast and it was about 8:15ish at night when they started pre orders here. I tried to stay up and get an order, but, I was about to give up anyway.. figured.. maybe I'll remove from cart and re-add. That was all the stock. Gone. Couldn't re-add.
Luckily, I'd done a Target order as protection against not being to get a BB order. Ridiculous. Hopefully BB restocks.
 
I had it in my cart at Best Buy but was unable to checkout! Eventually, I got the message that it was sold out after constantly hitting the checkout button for two hours.
 
In my history working at GameStop, my guess is there will be more allocated in waves for different times.

If you won last night, see you at launch. Next batch...maybe launch or a week later, so on and so forth. Times will vary. That's just my guess on having done prior launches for stuff when I was there.
 
Got mine today on Amazon Mexico....lets see if they deliver November 12. It seems they have a batch of consoles for Mexico an probably will be sold out today.
 
SONY has PS5 in a great position they're trying to release during a pandemic and this will possibly give retailers an opportunity to rebound.

Yeah I was told my local gamestop is doing preorders today when they open up but we'll see.

This always happens, but there's a global pandemic affecting supply this time at least.

I want one and can drop the price up front right now if I find a preorder up, but if not I can wait a few months or whatever.
 
I'm completely flabbergasted at how fast this keeps selling out (still no luck for me). I figured forum dwellers would have pick of the liter so to speak, just because how stealthy the pre-orders started up. Seems the divide between casuals and enthusiasts on following video game news isn't what it once was.

Also, I think the day Series S/X goes on sale will give us a good inkling about the likely market share for the two companies next gen. They'll both likely sell out of pre-orders, but can MS match Sony's feat of successfully crashing major (console selling) retailers websites? Last night was crazy.

Same situation with the 500M edition PS Pro.. Never saw anything like it until last night... Literally goes from not available to sold out on the refresh...
I ended up getting the $900 Gamestop Bundle on the Pro because scalpers hit those last.

I was told back then it was guys with bots... Where do I get one of these bots as it sounds like we may need it going forward?
