Anyone that thinks they paid 7.5 billion dollars to help Sony sell systems is out of their mind. These games will be Xbox and pc only with the occasional switch port here and there for smaller games. Unless Sony allows game pass on their system there’s no way that’s happening. People keep referencing Minecraft it’s not the same that’s a franchise that’s kid heavy and it would have been a bad PR move to lock kids out. This not so much lots of these games are rated M.
Yeah, your assumption has as much authority as my assumption, which is none. I "think" they are going to start testing the waters in a 3rd party capacity. Not all franchises, but most.

The Xbox advantage will be day one gamepass.

Okay, but TES 6 not on Ps5 - I buy a Series X.

TES 6 on Ps5 - I don’t.

LIke many have been saying here you are looking at it from the console war mentality. No matter what, Microsoft gets your money in this scenario. Theres more to this than the dick measuring of consoles sold.

Me as a PC player rn watching MS & Sony try to dick each other with exclusives that end up on PC anyway because they need the extra revenue:

Is Doom a billion dollar IP? Is Elder Scrolls worth a billion dollar? Or Fallout? I don't think so.

I don't know what a "billion dollar IP" is, but TES and Fallout are definitely 2 of the biggest in AAA gaming. Then you're buying a successful MMO, and the talent and infrastructure of the studios, and many other smaller IPs like Wolfenstein, Rage, Prey, Quake, Dishonored, etc.

MS spent $2.5B on Minecraft in 2014. Based on that, this seems like a reasonable price for a company of the size and success of Zenimax.

Now that's one way to mental gymnastics around this.

It’s really simple:

1: every manufacturer wants to provide the most value to entice people to their console/service. One tactic is power wars and TFLOP dick measuring, another is exclusive content. Everyone does it. Don’t hate the player hate the game.

2: Given everyone has their exclusives, the fact that Microsoft does it but also has changed to releasing their content same day (or in the case of something like Flight Sim, months in advance) on PC too is a decidedly pro-consumer in contrast to Nintendo and Sony’s approaches. They’re absolutely winning in this aspect of being pro-consumer if you’re comparing them to the other major players. This acquisition doesn’t change that because it may exclude PS5 only players.

3: Personally, even with the intention of buying a PS5 (for Sony exclusives), I don’t know who wants to play these games on a gamepad anyway and I would be getting them on PC over either console. So now they’re (likely) included on my platform of choice at no extra cost to what I pay for gamepass.

Maybe it’s not a win for everyone’s particular situation, but it’s looking fine to someone like me

It's a bit funny to see people so riled up lol. As if the next fallout will not come out on PS or the next elder scrolls.
If you're talking about new IP then sure, you might have a point.

Established franchises? You're delusional. Or a fanboy. Pick one.

Well damn, if the next Elder Scrolls, Doom, and Fallout is Xbox exclusive, guess I need to get one of those suckers as well.

They get a lot less money...

Fuck me, I want a reason to buy a Series X. Thought this was it!

Microsoft money backed Rare. We all know how that turned out. From a developer on par with Nintendo to gamepass filler.

Lets not forget the 500 million poured into Halo infinite.
15 year old example is 15 years old. Hits and misses, that's how the game is played when building/acquiring a new studio. You want to give your team's the best advantage possible but they don't always pan out. Coalition has been doing a great job. So has playground games. We also got a bunch that we haven't got to see their fruits of labor yet. 343 does seem too be on shaky ground though.

Well, better hope MS does better this time than its done in the past, cos if not, and the upper management at MS changes direction, its going to be a bloodbath.

Big move though, lets see how it works out for them. Sadly I fear Sony is going to pull some tit-for-tat moves and we're going to get even more consolidation and resulting balkanization. Personally, I've never been a fan of Bethesda/Zenimax output so I can't say I care if they go full Xbox only, which to be honest I'm not sure they will do.

I loved both but been a person that plays most of the old shooter dayly I felt that Eternal tried to add stuff to make it feel fresh while Domm 2016 was just a perfect old style shooter. Both are great in my opinion.

I quoted you cause you sounded like someone trying to downplay the quality (or influence might be the better word for it) of Bethesda games, you can like whatever game you want :)
Totally! Def didnt want to knock Bethesda (or Doom E), just thinking about how it will impact me personally with my tastes. And Doom E was a "you can never go home" type feel on my end after enjoying Doom 2016. Elder Scrolls though will hurt bad if the next one is exclusive. (Gonna assume PC is coming too so i will survive).

Also can we enjoy this as gamers after Sony and Activison wanted to gouge us for every new release, maybe they wanted us to get two jobs to buy their games?

Game pass is what the Xbox platform is going to morph into in the next 10 years, will be the future of AAA games as well I reckon

We as gamers win, let's all celebrate, also dont some pre orders go up for some console in a few hours as well??

If it really is simple, one would not need a thesis to describe what's "simple."

I personally don't care, it impacts me none as a PC gamer, I just find corporate double speak and the sycophants that flip flop for their favorite brands... amusing.

Pretty insane but I could see this coming. Personally for me Fallout has not been good since New Vegas and Obsidian already went to MS, Doom reboot was amazing, haven't played Doom eternal yet but I am sure it is brilliant as well.

Loved skyrim back in the day and if any of these titles become console exclusive and go back to the old quality of Fallout 3/Skyrim with next gen visuals and game-play then this is a huge get by MS.

Crazy money though, suppose time will tell if this is a good purchase, can they deliver the same first party quality of PS Studios?

Think it's good news either way for gamers as a whole as it will keep Sony on their toes and stop them getting overconfident.
