There is a latch you have to lift on the diesel pump to stop people putting diesel fuel in an unleaded car. But nothing to stop you from putting unleaded fuel into a diesel car.

Is it the same nozzle? In the US the diesel nozzles are on a separate hose and almost always green.

Also don't worry OP I've known a couple people that have done this IRL. Both of them are women but that's a minor detail

Depending on the servo you go to the pumps can be different colours.

I've only driven unleaded cars for the last 15 years so when I went to fill up my fiancees car I just went into my normal habit of grabbing the unleaded pump.

I think I read on the internet that if you put sugar in the gas tank it will soak up the unleaded. But I haven't tried it so can't vouch.

Nahh unleaded in diesel isn't too bad, the other way around is a nightmare.

Crack open your fuel filter or disconnect the pipe on your tank and drain some out. 30% unleaded in a diesel will still run.

I think it is very bad for the high pressure fuel pump (if this car has one). The diesel is supposed to act as a lubricant in such a pump. I would drain it all.

Pour a bag of sugar into the tank, it will dissolve the bad fuel.
