Seems like Witcher has this one in the bag. Congrats 👏

It's too bad Bloodborne didn't come to PC so more people could have tried it. For anyone who has played BB, but not the amazing DLC, it is exceptionally good and half priced right now:

The Old Hunters

Time again to rejoin the hunt?

There's still over three days left in the vote, and the margin is only within about 4%, it could still turn around

Go Witcher!

I looked back and this poll had the most votes of any that I looked at so I'm guessing not a lot of people have held out.

It doesn't really matter since everyone seems to be too entrenched in their personal views to be swayed one way or the other, plus both of these games are good.

Some of us have seen more though...

Hard to say, maybe God of War. But none of the final 4 would make it in my top 5. I get that people love these games though, it's just disappointing when they're not among my favorites.
Not my pick, but God of War was still a really good game. I hope Ragnarok improves on it mechanically, because there's a lot of potential in what they built.

Can I just reiterate that i'm a total Sony fanboy but I voted for Witcher 3? It's just the better game, indeed the best game OAT in my opinion, and I only ever played it on PC¬

At the very least, Gwent in the Witcher 3 was incredibly easy to exploit.
Gwent IN Witcher 3 was a total victim to cards that could summon.. so like nilfgaard [sic] were epic...

... But only dolts talk about Gwent in the context of Witcher 3... The spin off title was the whole point~

Didn't really care for it the main game so never tried the stand alone. I think my strategy was to throw the first round but make the AI use as many cards as possible so they couldn't compete in rounds two or three. The whole reason there was a spin off is people liked Gwent in the main game.

I'm just saying that when you use anecdotes as evidence, you don't leave much room for ACTUAL evidence because you are so sure that your personal experience is THE definitive experience.

Whether one is better than the other is subjective to each individual. What is NOT subjective is sales figures, Witcher 3 being one of the best selling games of the generation, on top of being single player, from a studio that I'm sure many had never even heard of. It's a hell of an accomplishment from a small Polish studio that turned itself into a juggernaut with the release of 1 game.

From Software has been around for 30+ years and have put out some bangers in that time, Armored Core 2, Adventures of Cookies and Cream, Otogi 1 + 2, etc....they've been doing it for a long time and I'm a huge fan of them.

But if I compare individual games, I think Witcher 3 takes the cake. What people complain about the most, is combat, and I've only ever really spent time playing it modded on PC and have enjoyed the hell out of it so that complaint doesn't resonate with me. I've played through Bloodborne twice and gun to my Momma's head and I couldn't tell you what it's about...A virus got released in a victorian like england place and Cthulu Monsters come?!?

One has to watch Vaatividya lore videos to understand it. And while I think it's interesting, it's not THAT interesting that I care enough to put the effort into piecing it all together bit by bit. It's fucking boring.

So basically anecdotes are bad, but here is an anecdote for you?

Yeah that was probably my strategy too :)

I see that you're trying to resolve the point with your final sentence there, but i don't quite get that point, so yeah.. i really enjoyed gwent in the main game and tried really hard to get good cards.. and a fair while after completing Witcher 3 i saw Gwent in my gog account and got it.. and swiftly failed, schooled by faceless strangers, quickly moving on to less stressful games~ and that's the story of my relationship with gwent.

It's over. The casuals won.

More truth to that than you probably think. I've talked with my mate extensively about why he can't get into any From title of which he tried DS3 and Bloodborne. The answer he ultimately gave me was tied to the barrier of entry.

He can't enjoy a game where the challenge is too great, as it becomes not a game anymore. And he can't allow for patience, because a toddler uses it all up.

My missus, for example, gave Sekiro a really good try, falling short of the first general you meet in Ashina castle. She gave it a try because "seeing me deflect and attack seemed really enjoyable", and it was, until she couldn't get passed one boss for a couple of days.

Soulslikes are an exclusive experience. Imagine you being able to nut and trying to explain the experience of an orgasm to someone who can't achieve it. It is more mean than it is futile.

Not everyone can join the hunt.

Wait so BB got obliterated by FALLOUT 4 and these crazy fanboys not only keep lying to themselves but even trying to convince others that BB is a top 10 game this gen. :messenger_grinning_squinting:

Absolutely despicable.
Aren't we laying on the "appeal to authority" pretty hard here? You said it yourself: Falllout 4 got more GotYs. Clearly the rads in the water were higher than normal that year.

This is how I see it.

Both are some of the best titles released this past gen, made by two of the most talented developers in the industry today.
Both titles have made it onto many personal top 5 lists.

Bloodborne, despite being currently available only on a single platform, managed to come this far.
Going head to head with The Witcher 3, another successful game that is currently available on PC, PS4, XB1, & Switch.

Just saying lol

Bloodborne followed a straight pattern from the smash hits of Dark Souls 1+2. Both games being on ALL platforms sans Nintendo.

Witcher 3. A game from a Polish studio that 97% of console players have NEVER heard of until Witcher 2, which came out on one platform at the end of that platforms life cycle, from a character mostly popular in Polish culture by a studio with not nearly the experience or credentials of it's competition. Witcher 3 single handedly literally made it's developers the most successful thing to ever come out of Poland.

This is Witcher 1's E3 2004 booth:

From it's E3 debut with a small group of devs to it's 2007 release after massive changes to story, structure, tech they finally release a buggy ass Witcher 1.

FS released like 15 games in that small 4 year time period.
I'd say CDPR accomplished more. But you are right, both are incredible.

I wasn't declaring that one developer is more accomplished than the other, I was more so comparing the critical & commercial success of both titles directly.
As I've acknowledged, CDPR are one of the most talented developers in the industry today, so I'm not taking anything away form their accomplishments.
Witcher 2 was fairly well received at the time of its release, which set things up for CDPR to knock it out of the park with their follow up in TW3.

You make it sound like CDPR were complete uknowns before TW3. I still remember when Assassins of Kings was released, people were praising CDPR for pushing PC gaming.
So I'd argued TW2 is what put them on the map, where as TW3 made them one of the most celebrated developers currently in the industry.
To be honest there's not exactly a lot of 'AAA' studios coming out of Poland relative to other countries, so there's that.

Didn't Horizon Zero Dawn beat out Divinity: Original Sin 2?

It almost feels like Witcher 3 is avenging Divinity... go Witcher!

(It's past 1 am here and I'm very nerdy... excuse me)

Quality of the game is not important as long as it's associated with a certain platform.

I'm assuming this is a PlayStation diss, but by that logic would Witcher 3 be winning?

Or are you disparaging PC gamers? Or are you saying people aren't allowed to like a game if you personally don't think it is "quality"?

I had more fun with F4 than I ever did with the Witcher series myself ngl. For one it played better, the quests were far worse and the characters were just as unlikable though. Although to be fair I'm sure that was done purposely.
