Sekiro will run at 60fps on PS5 via a Patch Update

We'll see :) using Xbox as a reference point for a game which has wavering FPS on both PS4 and Xbox One is perfectly justified IMO. The machines aren't that different considering the hardware involved.

Still, it would be amazing if Sony would deliver a better, more optimized version of BC compared to Xbox. I'm rooting for ya, since I'm getting a PS5 (not a Series X at launch) and would love to play Sekiro 100% steady. But.. chances are VERY slim I think.

Thats not really true, MS have said it used all the GPU 12 TF if you google it.

What XSX is not using is any RDNA2 new OPTIONAL features like VRS or mesh shaders or SFS for blending in pop in (but it will have PRT+ as thats a current gen feature writeback).

Statistically though, how many people succeded to finish Bayonetta, and how many, to finish Sekiro?

Somehow, i agree with you on the Sekiro's parry time window but also being generous, is a fact that 30 fps and the bad frame pacing, are a big minus in a game of this kind and they just ruine the party...

You're right, my bad I'll correct the post. Still think the boost on PS5 will probably improve games a lot assuming the code can handle it.

How do you know that? The game does not run at locked 60fps on XSX through BC, that we have seen. On the flip, we have seen nothing of PS5 BC. As for the patches, I like that most ps4 games are being patched. Look at all these PS4 games that are getting enhancements on the last gen console, so PS4 owners benefit too and the BC on PS5 can be even more enhanced. So I'm sure Sekiro got a patch that does more than just 60fps, but also increases loadtimes significantly, improves textures and texture filtering and improves resolution.

Well Bayonetta has multiple difficulty but that game's Climax difficulty is much tougher than Sekiro.

But I was mostly talking about parry system. In Sekiro is one button but in Bayonetta you have to move your analog stick towards the enemy when they are about to land a hit which to me its tougher to pull off consistently.

There are people in this thread absolutely delighting in the fact that Sekiro has some framerate drops on an unpatched Series X version. "ah, best throw in the towel Microsoft". It's pathetic.

Especially when compared to a theoretical maximum on a patched PS5 version.

Some of you never learn. Every little win, no matter how imagined, needs to be turned up to 11. Because, ya know, it seems unlikely a performance patch will be PS5 exclusive, if it does more than the Series X can unpatched.

Isn't it enough that Sekiro runs and runs well on these devices?
 
So many people concerned about a game getting enhanced through a patch......Do you know a developer can do more to enhance a game through a patch than whatever happens through BC.....Removing framerate caps easy, enhancing textures and filtering easy, providing the ultimate settings on games easy, increasing the resolution, maybe removing checkerboard rendering, improving the dynamic resolution range or allowing 1440p 60fps locked and 4k 60fps with slight dips. They can do much more and do it much faster than MS's BC team.


As for boosting. PS5 can boost Sekiro to 60fps easily, it was already a much steadier game on PRO than XBONEX. The thing is in some titles Sony wants to give you more based on the popularity and standing of a particular game......You will find that most of the big gun games will get a patch for even better enhancements than BC can provide.......

Both versions (PS4/XBO) of sekiro will be updated, why wouldn't it? Makes no sense to just release an update to one console. Unless sony paid for it obviously.

Thats what I'm saying. If the patch locks it at 60, that same patch is coming to Xbox.

Come comment on AMD when we see what RDNA2 is, should be fun. You can use your up to word then.

The game already ran up to 60 on PS4 PRO. The only news on that tweet is about the saves, which no one knew if those were supported since it's decided by the developers themselves.

Back on topic, what have you got to contribute to the thread about ps5 patch for Sekiro at 60 FPS ?

My XSX reference was in reply to a poster who brought up XSX, I did not.

As I have not played Sekiro yet, due to the poor last gen performance for this type of game that really benefits from 60 FPS, its up there for me as a buy. I look forward to see how it runs on ps5 for sure.

Almost nothing of PS5 BC has been confirmed other than "99% of PS4 games will be compatible"

The original tweet by Lance specified PS5 will use a patch to reach 60fps in Sekiro, but XsX will reach this without a patch.
The clear implication here is that PS5 isn't hitting this target, despite emulating lower resolution targets, through brute force alone.

That's not, obviously, because PS5 isn't strong enough but because it's BC is clearly attempting to emulate PS4Pro hardware rather than throwing it's full GPU power at the game as XsX does.

As someone noted earlier, however, this is conjecture/speculation. But that's all anyone really has until PS5 BC can be tested unpatched.

I have noticed you keep constantly talking about this AMD show thing, often in responce to someone talking in a positive way about XSX. Is there something we will find out today or something?, something console related, PS5 but not XSX related?.
I'm a bit confused on this.

We will all find out what PC RDNA2 is, and how that differs for consoles. PC will have some things neither console has.

Big L2 cache, Shared L1 cache, IPC gains from caches, how you need little memory bandwidth for 20 TF, how they get to 2.5 Ghz. the big hitters for RDNA2 performance.

Its interesting to see what consioles managed to get out of that. RDNA2 performance is not about mesh shaders and VRS or Geometry engines thats just back end stuff.

This is the shader performance discusison, the meat and potatoes, it will be interesting, and AMD have kept a tight ship nobody knows the details. Should be fun and the power discssions will be allot more interesting. :messenger_beaming:

Post history is self explanatory. Only Ps5 will reap the benefits of everything amd does. And remember Ps5 is equal to a 3080.

As for the boost mode topic. Its ridiculous how there's only one road to ps5 video and like 30 different takes on what it all means.

Boost patches being required are not something im excited about considered games like bloodborne never got a pro patch.

Its nota defense mechanism, its a simple fact I believe this will be the new topic of discssion for the next week on all performance and power discussions.

I have my own theories, but they are mine as I am interpretuing leaks so will be claimed as FUD anyway.

For sure PC vs XSX will be easier comparison, ps5 is more a mystery all we know is the gPU clock and some cache optimisations....... Not long now anyway.

As far as I know the game doent offer an unlocked framerate mode on ps4/pro

I respect your point of view but to be fair, i remember finishing Bayonetta on my 360 several years ago and it was a walk in the park.

Sekiro instead, also reading people's comments, seems a real tour de force to complete.

I am not even sure if you are serious when comparing 2 games that despite being action oriented, are so different from each other in many ways...

In my initial comment, i just wanted to express my happyness for the upcoming patch and underline, how a game like Sekiro has been created and should be played at 60 fps (at least), to be fully appreciated.

They dont have to talk about consoles, just reveal all the PC specs and details, we have enough information already to compare.

And NDA will drop soon after I suspect, followed by RDNA2 white paper. I will not post my speculation, its close enough anyway. I have listed some things in the speculation thread, where it should be discussed.

Are you suggesting the PS5 isn't powerful enough to run some PS4 games at 120FPs?

You do know that for that to happen developers have to patch it into their games. It's not an automatic process.

Truth is you have to wait until the announcements are made to see which games will be patched upgrades.

He knows very well Gears 5 at 120 FPS is a native XSX game. Halo MCC is probably too or it will get a patch, they're 360 games anyway.

Also it seems this thread is based on a bunch of nothing - according to the guy that made the tweets, lance, the info is not correct. The users that have been speculating PS5 needing patches to have boost mode look real silly now.
