New System of a Down Music

We as System Of A Down have just released new music for the first time in 15 years. The time to do this is now, as together, the four of us have something extremely important to say as a unified voice. These two songs, "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" both speak of a dire and serious war being perpetrated upon our cultural homelands of Artsakh and Armenia.

More about the cause they're trying to get eye on at the link.

I like it. It's nothing ground breaking but more of that classic SOAD sound 🤘🏻

Edit: Also available on Spotify.

Definitely more of the same, but cool. Maybe they'll explore new directions after getting into a groove.

I had no idea they were making new music as I'd heard that there was a lot of internal fighting between band members due to stupid political differences?

I'm glad to see that they've apparently worked through that. Hopefully we get a full album in the future.

Ahh the band most of us moved onto when we realised limp biscuit were actually pretty shit...hopefully we get more
Serj Tankian solo stuff is fucking awesome as well

Yeah the last I read was creative differences and Serj was going to do 'Elasticity'. Good to see them working together again though.

Glad to see the band back together. SOAD was my childhood.

However, you know the world is fked when SOAD releases new music. Their political commentary is always on point and relevant. Something needs to change or we'll get a full length album too! 😋

TBH I love the new 2 tracks and I hope this isn't just a one and done thing. I'd also like to hear more from Serj in 2021. Hopefully the members can see past their differences and are on good terms at least.

I think these were quickly recorded because of the whole Artsakh/Armenia/Azerbaijan/Turkey conflict to raise money. They don't feel like the SOAD I remember.

Boring and forgettable

These songs sound like they havent released anything in 15 years lmao
I feel like SOAD and Rage Against The Machine stopped too early. Green Day fizzled the fuck out, and Rise Against is a band kinda feels a bit too generic in terms of their lyrics while being a good rock band.

SOAD fuck them by the constant infighting, and RATM equally disbanded when ego dismanteled the entire concept. Kinda shame.

if they did then people would say "i miss the old SOAD"

Appreciated but nothing special for them. A few days in the making as opposed to 15 years but it's elevated by merely existing. I wanted more and now I need it.

yep

i love it. they sound even better than they used to. energy, great melodies, engaging chord structure that is interesting and doesnt stay in the same key. SOAD just me;t my face everytime and to hear them come back as old farts and still face melt is a real treat. i always appreciated that they were passionate about the message behind their music as well. also, part of me just feels like the world needs system of a down rn. there is angst in their sound that taps into things going on in world, and often times they are heavy events like war. as crazy as the world is rn, it helps to have some music to transfer that energy into. their message can usually be transposed to some of the same issues other countries are going through.

i feel like a lot of republican gaf would resonate with these lyrics rn...

"The enemy of man is his own decay,
If they're evil now then evil they will stay,
They will try to push you far away,
Would you stay and take a stand,
Would you stay with gun in hand,
They protect the land"

2 track is better, can't say it'll end up on my playlist though.

Sounds like it was recorded on a USB interface, just sounds cheap.

I can't see myself ever wanting to relisten to Protect the Land again. Genocidal Humanoidz is more of the classic sound, but still doesn't nail it for me.
