Bomba: Godfall fails to make the UK's Top 49 in Launch Week

I wasted 70 bucks. Bought it at launch. Reviews went live literally minutes after my order had shipped so couldn't cancel. I have played the game once, for about two hours, and feel like I already have seen everything.

its decent combat and looks great but the 70 dollar price tag along with no matchmaking have killed this already.

When they include matchmaking for co op and the game gets added to PS+Freebies it might get jump started

I take no solace in games bombing. especially for new IPs.

I just dont think the game did anything special. it looked ok graphically despite being a next gen only game. it had no story, no real incentive to play aside from loot, and unlike Nioh and dark souls, it didnt seem to have a great gameplay loop.

instead of copying destiny, they shouldve copied borderlands.

I saw the trailer then went for a shit. Cannot remember anything about it at all. Also, they can get bent if they even think I'm paying 70 for any fuckin game yet alone this bag of balls.

Was gonna bash Gearbox for not doing anything good in the last 10 years besides borderlands. But then i realized they were only publishing this thing.

Any idea whether the price was Counterplay's or Gearbox descision?

Looked bad when revealed, looked bad in the released footage before launch, got mediocre reviews.

Didn't see that one bombing! What a shocking twist.

oh a next-gen only game, who would have thought that it would fail so hard. I thought everyone wants only next-gen only games? Why are the best selling PS5 games cross-gen games?

The argument is about Cross-Gen holding back quality, not (first day) sales.

(And before you respond saying those Cross-Gen games are better quality than Godfall. Yes they are. Different developers produce different results. Insomniac will produce better results than Miles Morales though when they can focus on PS5 only for example)

On PS5 it faced multiple 80+ rated games like Demon's Souls (90+ actually this one), Miles Morales, Sackboy... It was bound to fail.

It would have been more successful on Series X with the lack of competition.

Too bad. It would be nice to see more companies take chances on new IPs, and the battle mechanics look fun. However, the reviews all pointing out the repetitive nature of the game really turned me off. I would have preferred a better, perhaps more linear, story with the ability to co-op. They have expansion packs planned, but I don't know what they intend to add with those, and I don't know now it there's any way for those packs to save the game.

There's a world of difference between simply bombing and not even charting in a list of 49 games.

No surprise that it flopped but I can't even remember the last time a AAA release didn't even chart.

No wonder Destruction AllStars got put on PS+.

Bare in mind they had an exclusivity deal with Sony, which most likely still paid off anyway. Besides, once people are done with MM and AC:V they'll look for something new, and the game might gain some more traction.

I thought it looked pretty good but way to repetitive. There's basically only 4 maps.

I mean, the game looked derivative and boring from the first time they showed it. Visuals look shiny and nice, but every time gameplay was shown, it was like... that's it? It's the opposite of next gen - walking in corridors and fighting generic enemies in walled off arenas.

At least Anthem had cool flying and Avengers had, well, the Avengers. This is garbage bin material.

Pretty complicated situation for this game: $70, next-gen only, similar gameplay to two big current releases (Valhalla and DeS), unappealing design...

It'll be a PS+ game in no time

I thought that this actually looked pretty good.

I will still pick this up next year when it releases on the series x if it ain't full price.

The game was a wet fart from the moment it was shown.

100%. It only got attention by being next-gen exclusive and having flashy effects. Looked like some Chinese f2p MMO or something right from the beginning.

We don't even know how many PS5s there are to sell software on, but its not much yet

Damn that sucks. I really like this dev (loved Duelyst) so was hoping they would find some success with a 'big' game. Maybe they can turn it around.

I honestly think NOT going F2P with microtransactions (think Warframe) was the mistake here. This game could've carved out a niche like Warframe did and then grow from there.

Would have been #1 on xbox list, only next gen game.

They only thing that was interesting to me about this games was it's story. All the reviews I've seen say the story is average at best. So not interested and disappointed. I wasn't waiting a gem, but at least a cool lore.

God aw-Fall sales?

Game never looked interesting to me. Always looked way generic and even more generic looking' than Destiny.

I didn't wish for it to fail though, that's too bad.

I was almost in the same boat as you my friend. Most of GAF said I was crazy for not picking Demon's Souls though, and I listened to them. Turned out good at least this once.

If any of you expected anything good out of Gearbox and especially Randy Pitchford then... you should be ashamed of yourselfs :P Remember Alien Colonial Marines?

To me the icing on the cake is that DF made a sponsored video of this PoS

I remember borderlands 2 which to this day is the last good game they've published. (BL3 was ok. But nowhere near as good as 2)

Eh I'll probably still pick it up if it dips down into the $20 range. Sounds like it should be there in a few weeks.

How many people even own a ps5 Britain lol?
Where is Spiderman in the UK charts? I bet it isn't even top 10 as well.

Damn Sony wasted money buying timed exclusive for this bad game it look like a gamepass filler game hopefully it come to gamepass for pc there ill play it but i won't buyt it not even for 5 bucks.

Ever since I first saw it..I always thought it should have been a free to play game they pump with content and try for the next gen opposition/competition to Warframe.
